I have access to hundreds of transformers and various coils that are just going to be thrown away. I also have a lot of experience using ATmel microcontrollers. I also have plenty of large capacitors at my disposal. Where do I get more information on how to build this?

Please forgive my skepticism, but me personally I would like to see more tests, more tweaking, more results. This is HUGE and deserves development and public disclosure. This toroidal transformer relates to Steven Mark's TPU isn't it?

Just a silly question: What would happen if you replace the battery with a 5000 microfarad electrolitic capacitor. Initial charging of the capacitor to 13V would be done via a switch connected to a battery/power supply. Then try and see the voltage (I hope it goes up). Also check Mr. Steven Mark's TPU... ;) Thanks for inspiring us.

A friend of mine does exactly that with his setup, and it still charges back that cap as well.. He uses supercaps..
