The eclipse is the same car as a eagles talon and the dodge stealth... So in effect this car is half american. I uaed to buy only american too and wanted to try something new... I love my 99 gs. Its a great car.

all american products are the same, once they hit 200k, youre fucked and forced to spend a lot of money. Granted i'll pick GM over Ford all day, but i've had 2 accords, one with 285k on it and the one im drivin now with 210k on it. My eclipse with 175k on it, guess what? i have to rebuild. why? has a Chrysler motor. Had a Firebird with 185 on it, and it started to knock even with regular oil and fluid changes. -_- I'll take the longetivity and dependability of an import over American any day.

@MrTrapMan Odd. I have a Ford Expedition with +300k miles on it, rough miles that is. It's only had about 3 oil changes in the past 11 years I've owned it. Runs fine, just keep adding oil, change spark plugs and every year or two change the coil packs. Oil leaks into them. Other than that, she runs perfect. Alternator belt is a little rattly.

I'm positive that had the US started taxing imported cars as much as other countries tax us to export then foreign companies would have stopped sending cars here and American companies wouldn't have left. That alone would have cut the entire nations unemployment rate down a lot.

can anyone tell me is MY eclipse is rice? its custom painted green with a black hood. it has a PS3 and 2 TVs, its got a rocker sound system, and an aftermarket radio with an AUX port for my ipod. however, the exhaust is quiet, its modded-to get 50MPG in the city. it has all of the options in 95-cruise control, power sun, power lock, power steering, power windows, everything.

all american products are the same, once they hit 200k, youre fucked and forced to spend a lot of money. Granted i'll pick GM over Ford all day, but i've had 2 accords, one with 285k on it and the one im drivin now with 210k on it. My eclipse with 175k on it, guess what? i have to rebuild. why? has a Chrysler motor. Had a Firebird with 185 on it, and it started to knock even with regular oil and fluid changes. -_- I'll take the longetivity and dependability of an import over American any day.

@MrTrapMan Odd. I have a Ford Expedition with +300k miles on it, rough miles that is. It's only had about 3 oil changes in the past 11 years I've owned it. Runs fine, just keep adding oil, change spark plugs and every year or two change the coil packs. Oil leaks into them. Other than that, she runs perfect. Alternator belt is a little rattly.

@BASSCHAMP101 I completely agree. The 95' through 99' Eclipse is simply the sexiest car ever conceived of. I love my 96' Spyder. I can't take my eyes off of her!!

@dudeman13bt i LOVE eclipse but i would take a old school muscle car any day camaro mustang charger roadrunner anything like that in the 50-70 model i would take over a eclipse
