  • 3:51 The Edge enjoying some music.

  • awesomeawesome

  • who are dancing at 3:17 ????

the clothes made me think of Pink Floyd in the late sixties but one of them has no instrument and the floyds didn't dance so lOl, but the psychedelic t-shirt reminded me of Barrett.

  • Who is the first one they show? Oh, why it is Frank Zappa and that is because he was the most musically inclinded out all of them. # 8 is David Bryne of the Talking Heads. YEAH, got love those choices not to mention Led Zeppelin!

  • 2:38 is Bonham.

  • 2:51 Plant.

  • 3.30, is that Bono with the sunnies in the middle of the crowd????

  • Is 2:20 Win Butler from Arcade Fire beating the crap out of the cymbal?

  • I believe it is.

  • Absolutely awesome video! A tribute to music as we all know it

  • I love how they portray each style of music in this video! Ray Charles & Johnny Cash to Karen O & Jack White to Beck & Elton John! Such a beautiful outlook on music and love! 5 Stars for sure!!

  • Gorgeous wee kids at the end, especially the second one in the blue hoodie! :)

Stupendo!

  • That's one of the sweetest music videos I've ever seen. The song is great too. :]

  • is that Paul McCartney at 1:34?

  • It is messed up that U2 changed there money to Amsterdam so they can sav emoney feom Africa!!!!

  • awesome

  • o melhor dos melhores adoro

  • There is a window in the sky & u2 knows for they are angels & I am the holy spirit whom they witnessed the miracles! Miracle of the Rose Prophecy censored & silenced but guides them with essence of grace toward Rebirth & Excellence!

  • U2 always are consistently making great songs. They are amazing to still be relevant at their age.

  • What are the crowd shots from near the end with Edge and Bono in the middle?

  • my guess is it is staged specifically for this video

  • every time i see this video, i get a huge smile on my face....love love love it.

  • I love this vid <3

  • the best song!

  • R4d10h34d!!!! :DDD

  • Yeah, they WERE good, but NOW, they suck.

And even if you like Oasis, you should be able to admit that they're not even in the same league as U2, or most of the artists in the above video.

  • jesus, you make it hard for me to hate you sometimes, Bono

  • the very end is awesome!

  • CAtso!

  • the best part is when appears kurt and nirvana..... absolutelly marvelous!

  • they should put some images of Guns and Roses, Oasis, Alice in Chains, metalica etc....

  • is it maybe only there influences but yea they cudda done more clips of other great bands

  • GnR and Oasis suck, and furthermore, why would they put those two completely random bands in there?

  • finalmente encontrei, essa música é perfeita!

  • Can anyone tell me what's the name of the old man at 2:55

  • could it be Vladimir Horowitz??

  • Thanks for the info! Yeah, he is the one..

  • 2:41 The Who

  • What most people don't know about this video is that it isn't the original version. a lot of scenes got cut due to copyright infringement, then were replaced with random scenes from a hayfield. The original had scenes like Hendrix burning his guitar...(it was a lot better that way, lol)

  • u got a link of the original?:)

  • There are so many strands to this. It just grows and grows - the sound, Bono's voice - and yet stays surprisingly intimate. It curls around you and has you inside before you realize it.

Only quibble about video: the absence of Springsteen, the Doors and two other Irish greats notable in their absence or obscurity, Rory Gallagher and Van Morrison.

Surprisingly, it Beyonce's perfectly timed sexy stride I like most

  • The best voice is his imitation of Robert Plant - very subtle.

  • The video obviously rocks. The song also rocks.

  • best video ever made. amazing. makes me cry even

  • this video rocks!!!!!

  • I don't know who made it, but it's INSANELY well done. U2 should adopt it, if they haven't already, and create a master version of it. I'd buy it HD in a heartbeat. One of the best editing jobs I've ever seen. An incredible amount of work.

  • its theirs.

  • Just stunning. Frank at the end gives me goosebumps...shame a few record companies refused to mlet their artists be shown (Bruce etc)

  • Radiohead at 1:33 excellent!

  • Radiohead rules!

  • beautiful! thank you for that!

  • Really a very very good video. Its a great work. But, ¿is it made by U2? or it is a fan made video?

  • what a legendary and and a legendary video

    well good

  • that was a reply to mobsta8890

  • U2- the only band worthy of giving such a tribute to some of the greatest musicians ever.

  • lovely video¡¡¡

  • If this is a glimpse of whats going to be in the new album. Then were in for a great album.

  • one of the most beautiful songs and videos ever...

  • Cool. Frank Zappa 0:14

  • incrivel...

  • there is bono in the crowd at 2:14 / 4:19

  • Delicious....

  • Love this video

  • U2>Coldplay...

  • Are you serious? Come on man..you can't deny the influence that U2 has obviously had on Coldplay. I'm a hip hop fan(real hip hop that is, not this shit they play on the radio), but I love Chris Martins lyrics. The band has obviously been influenced by U2 though...and perhaps Radiohead...

  • Radiohead for sure. Especially the song 42. Coldplay are influenced by a lot of bands. Listen to rain day on the new ep. Sounds like Beck. X & Y was U2 influenced you can tell. I like both bands. I bet even Coldplay inspires U2 a bit.

  • I absolutely agree with you...

  • No way.

    Coldplay pretty much sucksss.

    U2 <3

  • 3:30 you can see bono in the crowd

  • 2:13

  • U.U it's fantasti Paul McCartney at 2.22

  • thats george harrison

  • Keith Richards

  • george harrison!

  • Not George Harrison, common look at his right arm look at the guitar and the background. Look at the suit ! i'm not sure if this is Keith Richards but definetly not Harrison:)

even the hair is a bit different not curly enough...

  • thats Keith Richards, the Beatles don't appears in this version

  • thats weird he looks just like george harrison

  • It's cool how they pay homage to great artists that came after them. You can see Nirvana, Radiohead, The White Stripes and Jay-Z

  • kurttttttttttt

  • who is the guy at 0:40?

  • If you mean the drummer,it is Dennis Thompson,

he was the drummer of a great and hopefully not forgotten band called Mc5. Members of the band are also in the video at 3:17.

  • No not drummer, i thaught the first guy that they show was Charly Garcia, but is Frank Zappa a composer, they just happen to look alike, but chaly looks more like Chaplin

  • what a dope video

  • ok i just read a few of these comments, so i dont really know what's going on...but who the hell compared miley cyrus with freddie mercury???? please tell me i just read something out of context or something....please tell me thats the case...

  • yeah, djjiles made that comparison, but said he was only joking.

  • is 137-138 the chili peppers

  • thanks i was pretty sure of that just checking

  • Probably the greatest music video. Should of won an award.

  • Should HAVE won an award....

You certainly won't be winning any English awards ;)

  • Oops my bad. I meant should have. :/

  • Its obviously an honest mistake. As long as you understand the gist of it, then who cares.

  • only u2 can do this

  • exactly. great band great ideas big thinking

  • I love ALL those artists. Every single one.

  • sencillamente... inspirador

  • is 1:15-1:17 nirvana or beck?

  • Nirvana man ;)

  • Colossal!!!!!!!!............Its Juz Gr8!!!!!

  • wow...

  • Phenomenal. Simply phenomenal.

  • Best music video of all time, thanks .

  • I wish they would of included Eminem, he is the decades biggest artist!

  • You are the decades biggest lame.

  • ha ha no im not the decades biggest lame and either is eminem, he has sold half of what U2 has sold in a matter of 8 years you idiot! Go watch Sisterhood of the travelling pants 2. Wanker!!

  • Fool, eminem is a shock novelty act. His fall was as big as his rise. As far as MUSIC is concerned, he doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as U2.

  • Eminem didnt fall, his last album sold 11 million and that was considered low sales for him.. His next album is called Relapse and i cannot wait for its arrival.. Eminem is the highest grossing artist of this decade and a legend with his play on words...

  • relapse. im not surprised they chose that word to be the title of his next album. Will he ever make a successful song that doesnt involve lyrics about his jacked up life? Seems all his music is about "babe mama", "sorry (my daughter) for the way yo mama and i behave around you" and "mom's was a careless bitch when I was growing up". Even his movie was the same old trite story. At first I thought he was decent but his stories got old very soon. He cant even measure up to P-Ditty, much less U2.

  • Do you know that Eminem was voted the #1 rapper alive? hmm whats wrong with the title "Relapse"... Its a play on words with Dr Dre's 9 year in the making album called "Detox" you moron... Oh and Eminem raps about truth and puts a comical view on things... P. Diddy licks ballz compared to Eminem... Oh and yeah U2 are Legends and deserve everything.... C'mon man, you were a fan of Eminem in 2000! who wasnt... his last album sold 10 million.... that was considered poor!! Buddy give ur head a shake!

  • No i was never a fan of his. I've never been into white rappers for that matter. I was into rap but like eminem's lyrics to each new song he makes, it's all the same old tired story and I grew up and out of all the bitch this, bitch that, nigger this, poe-poe that. One thing I have to give him props is he's a rapper but didnt follow the crowd coming up with lyrics trashing women, police and talking about how big a shit he is....

  • On the other hand, will he ever make any music that's not about his disfuncional family?

  • wow the best part of this video is the end with sinatra.

  • Good point. Could you imagine hanging out with him and dean!
