It's amazing that here at the very beginning of their career they could sing such intricate and beautiful harmonies. The way that the voices weave in and out is hypnotic. I don't think anybody else has ever come close to doing it this well.
I have always been a fan of the three b's......beatles,beach boys and byrds! harmonies at their finest. (also the mamas and the papas.....even if their name dosen't begin with b)
@bassmanjoe And it's getting worse. But it'll get better. I'll do what I can, and hopefully other musicians will remember it was supposed to be about the music, not the money. I urge all of you to do what you can. If you're even a decent songwriter, and not a completely loathesome person like a lot of musicians nowadays seem to be, please submit it your music somewhere. Do what you can and make music that's a labour of love and effort. Those who aren't musicians, well, share this song.

really mature sound for a debut album yeah, a brilliant song, brilliant band and a brilliant album, so fluid so rich yet so well build and ovewhelming at the same time,
"Here Without You" is an example of the sophisticated harmonies that the five original members of The Byrds were singing from the very start of their time together. No other musical group was doing anything even close to what The Byrds were doing at this time. A beautiful and tender love song.
Totally agree. There are other wonderful groups with good vocal harmonies (to mention Beach Boys, Sandpipers, Ivy league), but no one else has done it so naturally attractive. Their material is very sophisticated and each voice really has equally important role - that beautiful singing + great melodies and 12 strings have made them immortal. Truly genious.

this is simply beautiful. There are not many bands that harmonize as the Byrds.

One of my favorite ballads by The Byrds. The harmony and the
distinct minor to major chord change reminds me of the one
group that I wished had covered this song: Alice In Chains.

I love the way the melody lines get passed back and forth between the parts. A precursor of CSN.
