@dfktrex Van was a Gay Faggot in real life ; he also says this was 'filmed in Strawberry Fields' which is of course bullshit, as it was filmed nowhere near it ; it was Sevenoaks, Kent
The Brazilian Beatles Forever LP was issued in other countries as Por Siempre Beatles, which means the same thing. The Brazilian LP has an unusual song edit: the words "in Summer" are missing from the middle of "Penny Lane." Sure wish I could find this version.
@happybunny52354 One is able to hear the similarity in general arrangement to 'God Only Knows' if one slows Penny Lane down ; the general rhythum, piano & bass and 'clean' sound which Paul alluded to when saying he wanted it to sound like the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds
I can remember watching this program to see the Beatles perform and they show up this video...at the time I was thinking we were getting ripped off..where is the performance and what we were witnessing was the first music videos....what had happened was that the Beatles were not performing live anymore all they were doing was making records and we all wanted to see these guys they had not done a movie since Help and they were missed so this is what they came up with..MTV was 14 years away.....

"Penny Lane" never got to #1 in UK because of the awful Engelbert Humperdink with "Release Me". PLEASE BEATLES FANS GO TO THE Mazxxx50 "Release Me" to bash this horrible ditty.
at the end of the day its the peoples choice, the people decide. i fucking love the beatles, so what penny lane didnt get num1, who cares if it never made the charts??? all that matters is that you call sit and listen to it and really enjoy it as it is one of the best songs in history, simple but powerful!! f the charts, love your own music!
this just seems bizarre, teenage screaming about music which is so out there and experimental. Its like teenagers of today screaming about someone like Radiohead
Even though they had done some video clips to promo their singles before, these to me were the the first true music videos, conceptual, story telling and artistic. And all this in 1966. Wow, talk about being roughly 15 or more years ahead of their time...
it's amazing how the Beatles could change there style with the mustache's and everything, and the girls would still be crazy for them. Wish they'd scream for me like that :)
Strawberry Fields is my favourite. it was like a little play are or somewthing that John went to when he was a boy. my trumpet teacher knows the man who played the trumpet in Penny Lane
Recuerden que estas canciones y el video fueron hechos sinla ayuda de una computadora o equipos modernos de grabacion..solo talento..cosa que casi no hay hoy
Too funny! those screaming 13 year olds weren't quite ready for trippy, experimental music. They got really quiet when the Beatles started walking backwards and disappearing...
What a rip-off! If I was sitting in the audience that had advertised the Beatles and I got a crummy video instead, I would've been, "what a bummer, man." or, "smoke some crawdad's, jethro?" or, "peace, love, dope." or... XD
the 'canned' applause indicates to me it that there probably wasn't even an audience present when the 'video' was shown, and Van Johnson's intro is too hilarious for words. What an inglorious end for a fairly decent actor. Such is life.
The four lads did well, didn't they? Liverpool is a rough city and a difficult place to aspire to anything special -- there is a 'last laugh' quality to these vids. Also, the straight guy in the tux with nonexpanded consciousness is a pretty good sport for that era.
What's wrong with you people? The beatles are the greatest band in history! Their music still changes people's lives' to this day. Half of them are still alive, and the only reason the other half aren't is because of health issues due to old age and a terrible hate crime.
First video's. This started this whole crazy video age, right here. We have them to thank (blame) for all this. and now YouTube is a billion dollar industry. Amazing.
the beatles were a great studio band but i have heard many rumors about them purposely "rushing through shows as fast as we can, trying to beat the fastest time" that is serious fucking bullshit if thats true man
A lot of their live shows were a sham! You couldn't hear the music because of all noise and sceaaming! Most audience just wanted to see them! The Beatles realized this and soon got tired of playing to crowds that weren't really listening! So after a thousand gigs or so like that you can't blame them for going through their set quickly. So they can get out of there!
Actually I think that the screaming girls are a tape that was added by the TV studio. A crass comentary about the establishment's attitude toward the Beatles at the time. The real audience seemed to applaud and take the films very seriously. Just a guess but it sounds like the same peaks in screaming over and over.
All that plays for me is the website name and then that jackoff show host doing his fake female Beatle shrill and the bullshit freezes dead cold. Hello?!!?

Very interesting stuff. Great video!!! Very different from most others on The Beatles, and certainly rare. That's important: Showing a video that is from a source others haven't done yet. Keep up the good work!!! Greatly enjoyed by us here!!!
