  • In regards to the muzzle loader, how accurate do think the muzzle loader is compare to the slug barrel ? Dispite the action getting dirty as you mention. I have 20ga now, but I'm giving that to my son and buying the 12ga for myself with the extra barrels for the same reason

  • @moiecol I haven't had any experience with the Mossberg muzzleloader barrel. I don't thin kit has fiber optic sights (unless they've upgraded them recently). However, for the same price you can get a separate dedicated rifle that will likely perform at least as well as the extra barrel. My muzzleloader cost less than $100. Having said that, I still like the idea of multiple interchangeable barrels. If you remember, I'd be curious to hear what you decide.

  • Say-Bo

  • also the mossberg is so cheap...........you can be out hunting and drop them in the mud and keep hunting... with a nicer shotgun the hunt stops and you clean the gun

  • I've got two of these a 20 and a 12. Plan on getting a 3rd

  • @gmaster45612374 They're solid.

  • @GunsKnivesSurvival have you had any problems putting winchester shells through you're 500? I've had winchester game and target loads jam in my 535 multiple times. But I've never had any problems with remington or federal shot shells.

  • @daleboyrdm I've never had any jams, but I can't remember the ammo types I've gone through.

  • @daleboyrdm Hey man I have a 535 and have never had jams with the winchester shells. I shoot anything I can get my hands on and don't have a problem. The 535 is a 500 action with a different barrel to shot the 3 1/2 shells. I am interested to know if you still have this problem.

  • cool vid man u totaly did the 500 justice did u know they make a muzzleloader barrel for this shotgun?!!!

  • @hopecamel Thanks! Yes and I was very close to buying one.The only reason I didn't is that I was told it gets the action REALLY dirty. I ended up getting a separate $99 muzzleloader instead.

  • I love my mossberg 500.

Sabot is pronounced sah-boo. It's a French word meaning shoe.

  • fuck i just subscribed so hard.

  • it's pronounced SA---BOT....the T isn't silent

  • Thanks for this video, I found it very useful. I'm currently on my 10 day waiting period (thats right im from California) for this firearm. Its currently configured with an 18.5 and im looking into getting a 28 for shooting clay pigeons

  • @MonsterHorrorBoy No problem! Thanks for watching!

  • Do you know if in the synthetic combo big 5 sells the 28 in ribbed barrel comes with a modified choke?

  • @SuperFanny12345 I'm sorry, I'm not sure about that one...

  • @SuperFanny12345 i think it does look on mossbergs websit

  • @SuperFanny12345 Mine came with a full a modified and an improved cylinder

  • what did you pay for the extra barrels?

  • @good2you1128 I forget exactly. The 28 inch barrel came with the shotgun. I think the scoped rifled barrel and the smoothbore with rifle sights barrel were each about $110 on Gunbroker. I got the 18 inch barrel several years ago at Cabelas for around 75 bucks.

  • is there any risk of barrel damage shooting slugs though it? my dad told me not to but i havent been able to find evidence to support him

  • @garrettzkool63 It depends on the type of slugs and the type of barrel. Rifled slugs out of a smoth cylinder barrel (straight, no choke) is fine; Sabot slugs out of a rifled barrel is fine. If you used a choked barrel, don't use slugs.

  • they look great, thanks

  • what brand are your magnetic fiber optic sights? i love them

  • @spartan2 I think these are Tru-Glo, but I can't remember and there's no markings on them.

  • Some people still say the remington is higher quality, but my mossberg goes bang everytime I pull the trigger and the action works easily. That's all the quality I care about.

  • nice rifle, hey do u know if its safe to shoot sabot slugs thru a smooth non rifled barrel?

  • @MrAzcabowabo I'm not sure about safety, but I think you would lose some accuracy. I'm no expert but I'd reserve sabots for rifled barrels and rifled slugs for smooth barrels.

  • @MrAzcabowabo

It would be ill-advised to waste expensive sabot slugs on a smooth barrel. Use the expensive slugs in a rifled barrel, and the cheap slugs in the smooth barrel.

  • They are pronouinced "say-bo" but nice vid, and great overview.

  • i love the video

    i love the gun.

    thanks

  • Great video, I am just getting one going based on the same concept on the 870. It wont be as good as yours. You have lots of good editing and you are very thorough. Very Good Job!!

  • @UtahGunSmith Wow! Thanks for the nice comments. I really appreciate it.

  • Where can I get those fiber optic sights? Would you recommend them?

  • @xxMIK1989xx I got mine at Cabelas. I got them in case I want to shoot turkey, but I haven't had the chance to shoot with them yet. I'll give you a shout when I do.

  • Where can I get those fiber optic sights? Would you recommend them?

  • good advice... thanks ! ....best lesson on mosie 500...

  • I did something similar with my Mossberg Maverick 88. It came with a 24 inch ribed barrel, full choke. That is great for most hunting, especially for bird. It normaly wears a 18.5 inch barrel though, for home defence. For all the Maverick users out there, your Mavrick will accept Mossberg 500 barrels just fine. In fact, many things are interchangable between the two.

  • It's hard to beat the ol Mossberg 500 for the price that's for sure! And If I a could only have one gun it would be a 12 gauge pump. It would take care of everything I would need a gun for really.
