  • Best male vocalists: Luther Vandross, Steve Perry and Michael Bolton.

  • Arguably the best male vocalist of all time

  • Anyone knows songs from 2:44 (F4) and 5:16 (Bb4)?

  • Ma non sapete di cosa state parlando.

  • That's what I like to see >>> NO DISLIKES!

  • That's what I like to see >>> NO DISLIKES!

  • hey, what is the song at 0.37?

  • Luther and John Legend are my favorite baritones ever.....And hes definitely a baritone it doesn't matter what note he can reach the pitch of Luther's voice resonates on the baritone pitch, although he was talented enough to reach a tenor range.

  • Anyone know song at 0:24?

  • @Sinnerxxs4385

A House Is Not A Home

  • @IloveArethaFranklin Thank you :D

  • What is the song at 4:30

  • @Astronomical117

    Impossible Dream

  • R.I.P. Luther Vandross! He was one of the coolest singers ever!

  • This man has the kind of voice to be envious of! His phrasings, virtuosity, interpretive style, and timbre is unmatched! You can feel his passion when he sings!

  • This man is what singers today strive to sound like! One of the real 'greats'. Your videos are awesome IloveArethaFranklin! :)

  • Although some say he was a baritone he was a tenor who simply had an extension at the bottom of his vocal range and because of the exceptional control he had over his voice he was able to easily mix his head voice and chest voice throughout his entire vocal range, which allowed him to sing through all his vocal registers with no audible break, this ability can also be attributed to some of his flute like falsetto notes that he was also famous for executing on recordings and live performances.

  • What are the songs called at F4 and A4 at upper chest voice?

  • Great video but Luther wasn't a Baritone. He's a true Tenor and one of the best Tenors too!

Soul singers Lou Rawls and Jerry Butlers are examples of Baritones.

  • I really hate the ignorance on here being a baritone doesn't make you a bad singer its just the voice that god gave. You just like belting high doesn't make u a good singer isn't range both your high and low notes.

  • You know baritone's can't sing that high without mixing vocal registers right? He's definitely a tenor.

  • @IloveArethaFranklin Excellent video. thank you a million times! been waiting for this video for way too long! All the other mediocre male singers of today cannot compare to Luther yet there are vocal range videos of them (ewww) lol now you should just make a video of peabo bryson who is also great.

  • Could you please tell me what the song is for the 3rd (G2) I would greatly appreaciate it!!!!

  • @IloveArethaFranklin, Can you please do a vocal range video for Brian McKnight! His has to be done because he has such a great voice!

  • No, no, no, no way is Luther Vandross a baritone! Are you absolutely insane! Most of the low notes barely count as singing and those that do are so weak! HE IS A TENOR! Without a shadow of a doubt! And no baritone could belt up to B4 with as much chest voice as Luther. Do you actually know a thing about the real human voices! The last CHEST note on here is a C5 that is the top of a tenor and no real baritone could even think about that note!

  • @HildaMcFumble i see what you mean..most baritones can barely sing A4, but most tenors have trouble singing a low G as well.

  • @HildaMcFumble I would call him a tenor with a lower extension(and you're right now are actually workable notes) His voice pop out out the top and he has a GREAT middle voice. But, I can understand why people would call him a baritone, even though he isn't.

  • @HildaMcFumble Also, Baritones can sing that high, they just don't do it publicly to often, and Luther isn't singing that C5 with chest it's mixed voice, which is another reason why people may consider him a baritone as a gifted baritone with an upper extension could sing that high if he mixed well to extend his range, the timbre would be different but he'd still be able to sing those notes.

  • @HildaMcFumble

check out Xavier Naidoo songs..he's a bass german singer hitting C5 easely live ..so it's possible

  • @HildaMcFumble By your logic then, Luther would also be a Bass . . . because Tenors could never reach the low notes that he does consistently. You cant determine a person's fach by just range alone. Luther is most comfortable in the mid baritone range, and belts the high notes. A tenor should be able to hit these higher notes without belting as soon as Luther does. That said, some people just have voices that are amazing and defy category. Luther would be one of them.

  • amazing.

  • I have been waiting for this video for years!!! Thank you so much for making this video. How about Tom Jones?

  • A-M-A-Z-I-N-G Voice!

  • Great video.

Can't believe he went so low, just amazing. He beats out the current generation of male singers on vocals and pure emotion. Could you do a video for Barry White?

Its just I believe his vocal ability is ussually overlooked..

  • Great Video!

  • Luther better SING.

  • The amount of babies that were made because of that lower register...

  • @EmbracetheButterfly

    LOL!!!!!!!!!

    (Fanboys)

  • What a vocalist...He is like the male version of Mariah or Whitney. Great phrasing, brilliant lower range, great belting and quite clear all the way through to C5 and up, was there no D/E5's?

  • @Dam112

He belted that one D5 and nothing between that and F5........

  • @Dam112

Luther actually reminds me more of Whitney.

    Stevie reminds me of Mariah.

  • @KyoHanjin really? Oh I dont think Stevie is a Mariah at all

  • @Dam112

Yeah cause Stevie is the musician over Luther just like how Mariah is a greater musician than Whitney.

I think I'm just being lame lol.

  • @KyoHanjin Oh okay, yeah i agree with that.

  • @KyoHanjin Luther had incredible musicianship also lol. maybe not on Stevie's level but he's still up there.

  • @TheCmelmoneyman

    Oh yes definitely....

    I also loved Luther's interpretive ability ^^.

  • @KyoHanjin i'd compare him more to Aretha.

  • @TheCmelmoneyman

You'd compare Luther to Aretha? In what way?

  • @KyoHanjin they both have the smoothest voices in soul music...and Luther was too much involved in the production of his music to be compared to Whitney. Ree is also very involved in the production of her music.

  • @TheCmelmoneyman

    Yes very true.....

Lol I was just comparing Luther to Stevie......and them to Whitney and Mariah hahahaha because they always seemed like male-female counterparts of each other hahaha. Plus they all sang with each other at one point.

Whitney: Duetted with Stevie on We Didn't Know, sang with him with Dionne and Luther on That's What Friend Are For

Mariah: Duetted with Luther on Endless Love, sang with Stevie with others at Obama inauguration

  • @TheCmelmoneyman if there was any male singer i'll compare to Aretha Franklin it'll be one guy to come in mind Donny Hathaway very underrated

  • @Funkredible yeah i've never heard of any baritone belting Bb4 that well.

  • quite possibly my favorite male comercial singer of all time

  • @agators212

    Pick...Luther Vandross VS David Phelps.....

  • @KyoHanjin thats hard to choose because they are both two different styles. if i wanted to here a cover of "a change is gonna come" luther. if i wanted to hear a cover of "bring him home" from les miserables then david phelps. two really great singers

  • Comment removed

  • @Funkredible

    Yep, he is a baritone.

  • This Guy is wonderful

  • His vocal range is insane!

  • thanks for making this video. i love luther

  • This man is the greatest soul crooner to ever sing a note! I LOVE so many of his songs! He was the ultimate when it came to singing ballads. Great range. Rest in peace Luther and know that you are very missed.

  • B1? What the hell? He got a crazy lower register!!! =D

  • YES! YES! YES! YES!
