I decided to do the opposite and tell them I'm straight, oddly enough. Most wonderful part was bringing home my first girlfriend, seeing the joyful look on my mothers face, brought a tear to my eye. Not an experience I expect you've had - studies have shown that people who show homophobic attitudes and call others gay as an insult, are probably just covering for latent feelings towards the same sex.
