Yes the 3.0L Fusions are fast, I have an 07 Fusion that will carry the mail pretty good. I've had it up to 140mph, laughed my ass off few days ago when a pile of shit Gen 2 Toyota MR2 decided to race me and got owned....these damned ricers think their shit is faster than anything
@jsnevels2 yes really....at some point I'll get some vid posted, just got a new 1080p camera, so when I get a chance I'll up load the vid...takes less time than you'd think to get to the 140mph.....I dont know how much more I'd get out of it, but the rate of decrease makes me guess that absolute top speed would be in the area of 145mph until I do some more mods to car, like custom RamAir intake, and full custom exhaust and a more aggressive tune, current tune is mild, with 249mph limiter...lol
@jsnevels2 also I'm trying to find a reasonably close airstrip that has open run days when they let people pony up a bit of cash to make top speed runs.....getting busted at 150mph on public roads isnt something you ever want to happen...
good car, i drive my buddy's v6 sel sometimes. comfortable, roomy, and the interior is pretty nice. its a bit on the heavier side because of the awd system, so as far as speed goes its not as quick as i had hoped, my 96 i30 was faster. all in all, ford did a good job with this car.
Absolutely love my '06 SEL V-6. Just rolled 90,000 this morning! Still totally gets out with no problems. Had to spin 'em twice today pulling out in the Chicago traffic. Still runs like off the showroom floor in '06!

I think they limit the speed on the fusions after 2006. Cause my 2006 sel v6 fusion, will sink the needle a little past 120 mph. I think the 07, 08, 09's are governed at 113 My question for any body is why did they limit the speed on the 07-09's and not the 06 fusion v6?
i think its something ford is starting to do. the 2010 taurus sho with the 365hp engine is limited at 131mph. even though the car could do 180mph. i guess its to help the driver from being stupid.
Test drove one the other day. Stomped it down and before I knew it, she was past 70 and still climbing fast. Would not be surprised if it could go over 150.

the car isn't limited to the speedo .. it's limited to the tires and what they are rated for.
for example, i have an 09 fusion I4 now. it's governed at 113 because the tires are only rated for 115. that was at 5000 rpm and redline is 6500 rpm ..
idk, i just assumed that the ford engineers wouldn't be dumb enough to allow the speedo go past where it was intended to read. But i could be wrong. 335 miles today, want at least 500 before i really get on it. 100 mph passes are just too hard to do more than two...
Well don't underestimate it.. lol. once you hit 80 they just wants to keep going. I myself in the v6 fusion notice more hp at higher speeds. Fusions are weak when it comes to 0- 60 starting out. But when you get them going at 60 or 70. Them fuckers will rock!!!!
people talk a lot of shit about Ford, but i had one of these for a rental, a V6 version....my favorite car now! i didnt wanna give it back :) i never used to like Ford cars, only their trucks, but this car is the shit! love the style and theres ass-loads of room for any seat you sit in. not to mention, as you see here, theyre QUICK!
@Motorfordtoyota Camry is so soulless it does not deserve mention. The Accord may have power but at this point it's a fat pig and I HIGHLY doubt that it would be able to keep up with a Fusion down the same road as it's tuned to be soft and comforting rather than good handling.
The Malibu... The engines sound like they're already dying, the interior is the worst mix of horrifying plastics known to man, and it does absolutely nothing as well as its rivals. Not even the beige brothers.
@RotaryJunkie Umm, My dad drives an accord, it handles very good, and is very comfortable, not to mention fast. I like the Camrys, The only reason we bought the accord is because the Camry was new and we could get an 18,900 dollar brand new camry. We looked at a fusion, and the interior was so horrifyingly plastic, and the seats were so bad that my dad didnt even test drive it. And we didnt look at a Malibu, I think that they werent out at that price in 2007.
@Motorfordtoyota The current Accord seems to be screwed together worse than the current Fusion at least in terms of the interior, it's fat and bloated, etc etc. In 2007 the Accord was completely different to what it is now and the Fusion is quite a bit different to the car it was in 2007. Malibu was the previous generation as well.
The '07 body style of Accord is FAR less pitiful than the latest restyle; it seems that aside from the Fusion, each midsize sedan has gone downhill from circa '05.

@studpuppy69 shifts too early? The trans in the Fusion is actually pretty smart and if u give it the right amount of throttle you can control the shift timing decently. Or you do the smart thing and, oh i dont know, buy a manual! I had a 09 fusion and now i have a 10 with a manual trans and both would blow away the sonata and accord.
@Gerberbaby922 LOL, good luck with that show a video of you racing a Sonata. Stock our V6's speedo goes to 160, of course top speed with a couple mods is around 150, stock expect 140-145. Our 4th gear goes to just past 140. New turbo Sonata 274 HP. So good luck to you on that.
@Gerberbaby922 Partially correct, if your talking about the regular 2.4 liter 4 cylinder. If your talking about the prior V6, it does it around 7 seconds. The 2.0T in the new Sonata does it in 6.5 seconds. Only real world side by side will prevail, in real life 1 second goes by in the blink of an eye.
a turboed version from Ford Fusion will get around 300+ hp....Ford Fusion Sport is at 260 hp....come on, and Hyunday has no racing history like FORD so get that POS Sonata out of here
@PuroPincheSinaloa09 Sorry, the Sonata is 10X the car the Fusion is that's why I bought it instead. I'd buy a Toyota or Honda sedan before I bought a Ford. Ford does not have that great a line up of cars, they failed with the FWD Taurus.
@studpuppy69 Sorry but Motortrend placed the Fusion in front of the Sonata in a comparison. Hyundai cannot make a good ride/handling balance. The Sonata has the least steering feel ever. Also the rear head room isnt so great. The Sonata isnt the best and the Fusion is a better car.

he probably has a v6 or just took the electronic limiter off. i dont know which one. i do know that the 4cyl is electronicly limited at 112. my brother has one and i seen it.
if you have a v6 then you should be able to reach about 115 ish maybe a little shy of it. but the way that you can take it to 120 is taking the governer (limiter) off.
this driver in the video didnt shift his car into low gear L and then switch back to drive when he hits 70. this reaises the rpm and get you maybe 3 seconds shaved off of getting from 60-120

Its got the 3.0DOHC thats has been around for years plus that dam engine was made to run hard.DOHC were made to rev higher. SOHC dont rev high theyre max is in the mid ranger.

The new civics with only a 1.8 litre engine and 140 will do over 125 and if you drive them normally will give super gas mileage. Great combo, and they handle very well.
I've driven a 95 Windstar with the 3.8 and had it going 120. I also drove a 91 Caravan short wheel base with the 3.0 engine and had it going 120. I don't know why ford limits the Fusion and the Mustang with the 4.0 to such a low speed.
The Fusions are 100% governed to 112 mph. Not sure how this guy got his going 120 unless it's video editing or he was going down a steep hill and the momentum kept him going past the limiter.
1998 Tauruses would not do 120 mph but the the 24 valve 200 hp would come close to a limited 118 mph. The 3.0 Vulcan V6 with 150 hp would only do 110.
Obviously this Fusion is not 100% governed to 112. The most likely solution is he has bought himself a tuner and removed the governor limit. As for your suspicion that a Taurus will only come close to the 118mph limit, that is totally bogus. You've never tried for yourself if you really believe that. I've smacked the limiter silly in a '00 and '01 Taurus (both with the 24V engine). As further empirical evidence I'd like to submit that a 2006 Civic LX with 140HP will smack 126 with time.
Those 3.0, 24 valve V6 engines will haul ass. I have had my fusion up to 130mph, but it won't push anymore stock unless I throw a turbo charger in it.
Buy a simple On/Off switch from auto store or even walmart, cut the governor wire, connect one end to one side of switch, the other the the other side. Voila!

I had a 06 Fusion 5 speed. It was quick for a 4 cylinder in that size of a car. Then in Feb. I trade it in like a dumbass on an F-150, now I'm about ready to get another fusion cuz who thought gas was going to go to almost 4 dollars a fucking gallon in 3 fucking months.
How did you by pass the speed limiter? Ford caps the Fusion at 112 mph and you achieved an indicated 120 mph. Were you coasting down hill?

I have a friend with a Sonata V6 and that puppy will do over 140 mph! I've seen 15 year old Corolla's go faster than 112. For needs to up the speed limiter.
I have a Ford ZX2, there is a limit-switch gizmo-dont know the propper name for it. But its located under the console. You disconect it and wooptie. There you go. The Fusion is probably similar.
But really, you dont need to be going no 120. Thats just insane.
wait until 2009-2010 , the new turbocharged direct injection motors will be out. The inline four alone puts out 270hp+ , and the V6 variant makes 340hp. with that said , the camry and the accord will have the doors blown off of them . Also , a huge increase in fuel mileage, and 20% less emissions because of the new technology.
don't get me wrong, I love my Fusion and American cars in general. But you MUST realize that the Asian manufacturers are going to have their own versions of the DITC engines, along with DI Diesels.. they are not going to let up. sucks, eh ?

Technically, ford does own mazda, a 34%share anyway which equates to the same thing. Yes, every Mazda6 uses a slightly modified version of the Duratec V6 ford has built since like '96. It's still not that powerful, but thats where the mazda engineering makes up for it. Now when the Fusion finally gets the Duratec 35, accord and camry will be sweatin it I guarantee. At that point, all three cars will be equal mechanicals, yet the Fusion is so much better looking.....

I have an SEL V6 AWD 2007 Fusion (6-speed auto) and it is electronically governed though judging by the final drive ratio I assume with governer removed it would top out at approx. 135MPH. I seriously doubt it could get to 140MPH or higher without a different transmission.
ford does not "pwn" mazda, nor do they really own it. ford invested into 30% of mazda. really theyre just pulling ideas from each other. with out the rev limiter mayb you could hit 140 with the stock tranny just would probably take a hell of a long time to get to that speed...

my 08 v6 Fusion hits the limiter at about a buck 12, no more :( I had an 06 Sonata v6 and never found the limiter, i ran out of road at 140 though.

@studpuppy69 shifts too early? The trans in the Fusion is actually pretty smart and if u give it the right amount of throttle you can control the shift timing decently. Or you do the smart thing and, oh i dont know, buy a manual! I had a 09 fusion and now i have a 10 with a manual trans and both would blow away the sonata and accord.

@Gerberbaby922 LOL, good luck with that show a video of you racing a Sonata. Stock our V6's speedo goes to 160, of course top speed with a couple mods is around 150, stock expect 140-145. Our 4th gear goes to just past 140. New turbo Sonata 274 HP. So good luck to you on that.

@Gerberbaby922 Partially correct, if your talking about the regular 2.4 liter 4 cylinder. If your talking about the prior V6, it does it around 7 seconds. The 2.0T in the new Sonata does it in 6.5 seconds. Only real world side by side will prevail, in real life 1 second goes by in the blink of an eye.

@PuroPincheSinaloa09 Sorry, the Sonata is 10X the car the Fusion is that's why I bought it instead. I'd buy a Toyota or Honda sedan before I bought a Ford. Ford does not have that great a line up of cars, they failed with the FWD Taurus.

@studpuppy69 Sorry but Motortrend placed the Fusion in front of the Sonata in a comparison. Hyundai cannot make a good ride/handling balance. The Sonata has the least steering feel ever. Also the rear head room isnt so great. The Sonata isnt the best and the Fusion is a better car.

if you have a v6 then you should be able to reach about 115 ish maybe a little shy of it. but the way that you can take it to 120 is taking the governer (limiter) off.
this driver in the video didnt shift his car into low gear L and then switch back to drive when he hits 70. this reaises the rpm and get you maybe 3 seconds shaved off of getting from 60-120

no not really. my brother has a 4cyl and he beats the living shit out of it every day like goes top speed and floors it.
no problems. before he had a 2001 king ranch f150. beat the shit out of that too. no problems. of course your gonna have minor problems but they werent bad. but it also had 180,000 miles on it when he traded it. are family had nothing but good luck with ford. had them for a loooong time. have you even tried any fords? youll find the right one for you. theres lots of them.

The new civics with only a 1.8 litre engine and 140 will do over 125 and if you drive them normally will give super gas mileage. Great combo, and they handle very well.

My 1995 Windstar 3.8 liter woiuld do 120, and so will my 1999 Taurus 3.0 liter. I did drive a Ford Escape 3.0 and it governed at 105.

I've driven a 95 Windstar with the 3.8 and had it going 120. I also drove a 91 Caravan short wheel base with the 3.0 engine and had it going 120. I don't know why ford limits the Fusion and the Mustang with the 4.0 to such a low speed.

The Fusions are 100% governed to 112 mph. Not sure how this guy got his going 120 unless it's video editing or he was going down a steep hill and the momentum kept him going past the limiter.
1998 Tauruses would not do 120 mph but the the 24 valve 200 hp would come close to a limited 118 mph. The 3.0 Vulcan V6 with 150 hp would only do 110.

Obviously this Fusion is not 100% governed to 112. The most likely solution is he has bought himself a tuner and removed the governor limit. As for your suspicion that a Taurus will only come close to the 118mph limit, that is totally bogus. You've never tried for yourself if you really believe that. I've smacked the limiter silly in a '00 and '01 Taurus (both with the 24V engine). As further empirical evidence I'd like to submit that a 2006 Civic LX with 140HP will smack 126 with time.

I had a 06 Fusion 5 speed. It was quick for a 4 cylinder in that size of a car. Then in Feb. I trade it in like a dumbass on an F-150, now I'm about ready to get another fusion cuz who thought gas was going to go to almost 4 dollars a fucking gallon in 3 fucking months.

How did you by pass the speed limiter? Ford caps the Fusion at 112 mph and you achieved an indicated 120 mph. Were you coasting down hill?
I have a 2006 SEL V6 and it's very quick but I hate that they top out so low.
I have a friend with a Sonata V6 and that puppy will do over 140 mph! I've seen 15 year old Corolla's go faster than 112. For needs to up the speed limiter.

I have a Ford ZX2, there is a limit-switch gizmo-dont know the propper name for it. But its located under the console. You disconect it and wooptie. There you go. The Fusion is probably similar.

wait until 2009-2010 , the new turbocharged direct injection motors will be out. The inline four alone puts out 270hp+ , and the V6 variant makes 340hp. with that said , the camry and the accord will have the doors blown off of them . Also , a huge increase in fuel mileage, and 20% less emissions because of the new technology.

Technically, ford does own mazda, a 34%share anyway which equates to the same thing. Yes, every Mazda6 uses a slightly modified version of the Duratec V6 ford has built since like '96. It's still not that powerful, but thats where the mazda engineering makes up for it. Now when the Fusion finally gets the Duratec 35, accord and camry will be sweatin it I guarantee. At that point, all three cars will be equal mechanicals, yet the Fusion is so much better looking.....

I have an SEL V6 AWD 2007 Fusion (6-speed auto) and it is electronically governed though judging by the final drive ratio I assume with governer removed it would top out at approx. 135MPH. I seriously doubt it could get to 140MPH or higher without a different transmission.

ford does not "pwn" mazda, nor do they really own it. ford invested into 30% of mazda. really theyre just pulling ideas from each other. with out the rev limiter mayb you could hit 140 with the stock tranny just would probably take a hell of a long time to get to that speed...
