FFX was alright, but this is completly different, RG's Sci-Fi and an action rpg meaning you don't sit around waiting for your atb gauge to fill up for your turn. This is more like star ocean, or maybe dark cloud 2 with party battles, but other than the similar desert setting at the start this is nothing like FFX.

But there are some things I really liked about this game, The scenery is beautiful, the character design is pretty good, The insectron minigame is kinda fun and the weapon mixing is amazing (btw, weapon design is pretty good, and the fact that you can see the weapon u're wearing is really cool too)
I mean, it was really cool at first, good graphics, nice gameplay... But the soundtrack is horrible, the plot is REALLY lame, and a lot of characters are really obscure (for example, Zegram) ... And the battles just suck from the 2nd half of the game until the end, I mean... just spam Supernova and...battle finished.
I began to play this game and I like it too much, but then my PS2 (slim) stop reading the dvd. I don' t if it is the copy or my PS2. Because with my copy of God of War 2 (dual layer) I had the same problem, I began to play and then it didn' t work anymore... if someone knows a solution please tellme.
i had the same problem just open up your ps2 and clean the laser lens and disk spinner with rubbing alcohol and get the dust out. i did that yesterday to mine it only took me 10 minutes then the game worked and the dvd z started playing again you can find tutorial on here if you dont know how

But gameplay is treated like the PLAYABILITY by the big corporations of reviews (like ign and gamespot). So, I wasn't giving my idea of gameplay. I was giving the "official" idea of gameplay. In that case, refers to the scope of what the game offers in terms of game (NOT ONLY MOVEMENTS, NOT ONLY COMBAT...).
You talk without arg. By only have the insectron it adds a whole different way to play the game. What about KH? You just keep doing the same staff...
And you said that to use skills you have to stop the game. Thats exactly the strategy part, but the whole fight is not based on the skills, so you got ACTION and STRATEGY at the same time. What about FF? Could you consider it more action than RG? FF is turn based if you noticed...

i played AND beated it, and seriously, the plot sucks, im OK whit the graphic desing, its the biggest work i ever seen, the few worlds you visit are terribly large whit a lot of areas to explore
but in RPG games, people ussualy looks for a good history, graphics are 2nd, there are games made whit 16bit technology that i loved bcuz the plot was good, good enough to make you forget about the graphics and keep playing just to know what happens next

Rogue Galaxy is a mix of Devil May Cry (swords and guns) with Onimusha 4 (team based battle) with FF (real action/turn based) with some strategy and puzzles, and smash the right button at the right momment, and polished graphics manga style, and yugi-oh collectble cards style at the insectron, and a hunter "assassin's creed" style when going for reawards of specifical enemies at the galaxy corporation... And the list just don't stop...

By the way, Rogue Galaxy DO NOT focus on the graphics. It focuses on the GAMEPLAY. They couldn't make solid graphics like Metal Gear 3 or God of War with that huge scope of various staff. So they sacrificed that using manga style graphics, which is economical, but yet not ugly at all.

I've been looking for the best ps2 game for a long time, and finally found it. Buy FF and KH and you're buying 2 games. Buy Rogue Galaxy and you're buying 15 games...
Rogue galaxy is a good game but its history isnt half as good as KH, and if you would have beaten at least the 2nd boss in the game you would know that its a serious game, even if it has children toons involved.

i did main history, sidequests, Phantom ship, phantom ship EXTREME, the aqua planet, the item crafting sidequest, and the insect arena battles. i did almost everything there is to do in rogue galaxy, kingdom hearts 1, 2, CoM, 2+FINAL MIX, and FFs from 1 to 12 (skipping 4, 6, 11 and NDS ones)
SO, im saying this FOR EXPERIENCE, KH HAS BETTER HISTORY AND GAMEPLAY THAN ROGUE GALAXY
and again, rogue galaxy is still a fun game i would recomend to anyone who has already played Kingdom Hearts

I'm surprised it's taken people so long to realize Square is crap. FFIX was the last Final Fantasy game I played. Since then it's all been crap. They are the kings of old school, today though they only appeal to n00bish weaboos.
I agree ffX is way overrated, great game i loved it, one of the better rpgs out there, but it is no where near one of the top 5 of all time or so. For one, the world in FFX is very small, and exploration is very limited as compared to FFIX or FFVII or say FFXII.
yeah, exactly, the game also basically holds your hand throughout cause come on lets be honest, part ten wasn't exactly a hard game to complete, it's probably the easiest final fantasy.

I completed FFX and never completed much of FFX-2 when i got it. I played some of the new final fantasy game 11 or 12? the one with the main character Vaan and the complicated storyline.
maybe it's just me, the game didn't have that wow factor that FFVII-X had. and leveling up here is annoying. Cid was annoying as hell. and WTF is up with Vaan's character model? those weird Skeletal Abs creep me out.
I have Chrono Trigger for psx, that game is amazing especially for coming out on the Super Nintendo, beautiful graphics in that game, also Chrono Cross was a good game.
I have Vagrant Story, and Xenogears. Found em' at a place called "Gamers". I haven't gotten around to Xenogears yet, Vagrant Story has a combat system similar to FFXII's, just a bit slower.
The battles were the main thing I didn`t like about the game. It´s just button smashing. I prefer turn-based RPGs, because of these reasons:
1. You have to think. You need a strategy to beat enemies (at least bosses).
2. You can watch your enemy as long as you want. (I like to look at enemies and see: there is an eye, there is his tail and the one next to him has three eyes and really great-looking wings ...and so on.)
3. You can put in some really wonderful special attacks where you just sit and watch how our hero (or the enemy) slashes with such an elegant way or cast magic that just makes you think WOW.
But the graphics in this game are great.
The music is okay.
And the story is... well it`s too funny and not serious enough.
Kingdom hearts just gets it's fame from real games like final fantasy and mickey mouse. You are a idiot man. Your some loser thats all like kingdom hearts wow. It's battle system is bullshit man. You can beat majority of the game just mashing one button. I know I did it. NOt only that you don't even have to look at the screen. I know ive tried it. As long as your mashing that button you can beat the game. And you call that good? A game you don't even have to look at to beat. Your a dick.

The one thing that dissapointed me about this game was teh ending, it had a great story all teh way through but the ending was maybe a bit to unepic. Sort of like Dragon Quest VIII. Awsome story bad ending. I guess tahts what after wuests are for though..
what they mean about 100 hours of gameplay is that if you do exactly EVERYTHING in the game, it can take up to 100 hours to complete it, a story that takes 100 hours is kinda rare

But there are some things I really liked about this game, The scenery is beautiful, the character design is pretty good, The insectron minigame is kinda fun and the weapon mixing is amazing (btw, weapon design is pretty good, and the fact that you can see the weapon u're wearing is really cool too)

This game sucks so much...
I mean, it was really cool at first, good graphics, nice gameplay... But the soundtrack is horrible, the plot is REALLY lame, and a lot of characters are really obscure (for example, Zegram) ... And the battles just suck from the 2nd half of the game until the end, I mean... just spam Supernova and...battle finished.

to be honest, I loved this game at first, the amount of customisation etc. (fan of both Dark Clouds)
But I quickly got bored because of how repetitive it was.
I want to like playing it, but I just can't.
I'm hoping for Dark Cloud 3 to secretly be in the works, that would be amazing on the ps3 (more space for content).

I began to play this game and I like it too much, but then my PS2 (slim) stop reading the dvd. I don' t if it is the copy or my PS2. Because with my copy of God of War 2 (dual layer) I had the same problem, I began to play and then it didn' t work anymore... if someone knows a solution please tellme.

i had the same problem just open up your ps2 and clean the laser lens and disk spinner with rubbing alcohol and get the dust out. i did that yesterday to mine it only took me 10 minutes then the game worked and the dvd z started playing again you can find tutorial on here if you dont know how

And bro, I didn't say the same thing with different words. According to you gamplay is the scope of movements of the game. DMC have a HUGE gamapley in that case.
But gameplay is treated like the PLAYABILITY by the big corporations of reviews (like ign and gamespot). So, I wasn't giving my idea of gameplay. I was giving the "official" idea of gameplay. In that case, refers to the scope of what the game offers in terms of game (NOT ONLY MOVEMENTS, NOT ONLY COMBAT...).

And you said that to use skills you have to stop the game. Thats exactly the strategy part, but the whole fight is not based on the skills, so you got ACTION and STRATEGY at the same time. What about FF? Could you consider it more action than RG? FF is turn based if you noticed...

i played AND beated it, and seriously, the plot sucks, im OK whit the graphic desing, its the biggest work i ever seen, the few worlds you visit are terribly large whit a lot of areas to explore
but in RPG games, people ussualy looks for a good history, graphics are 2nd, there are games made whit 16bit technology that i loved bcuz the plot was good, good enough to make you forget about the graphics and keep playing just to know what happens next

Rogue Galaxy is a mix of Devil May Cry (swords and guns) with Onimusha 4 (team based battle) with FF (real action/turn based) with some strategy and puzzles, and smash the right button at the right momment, and polished graphics manga style, and yugi-oh collectble cards style at the insectron, and a hunter "assassin's creed" style when going for reawards of specifical enemies at the galaxy corporation... And the list just don't stop...

By the way, Rogue Galaxy DO NOT focus on the graphics. It focuses on the GAMEPLAY. They couldn't make solid graphics like Metal Gear 3 or God of War with that huge scope of various staff. So they sacrificed that using manga style graphics, which is economical, but yet not ugly at all.

In fact, Mickey mouse and Dysney staff only contribute to make KH look "for children". Rogue Galaxy is perfect in every point, including history. I've been looking for the best ps2 game for a long time, and finally found it. Buy FF and KH and you're buying 2 games. Buy Rogue Galaxy and you're buying 15 games...

Rogue galaxy is a good game but its history isnt half as good as KH, and if you would have beaten at least the 2nd boss in the game you would know that its a serious game, even if it has children toons involved.

i did main history, sidequests, Phantom ship, phantom ship EXTREME, the aqua planet, the item crafting sidequest, and the insect arena battles. i did almost everything there is to do in rogue galaxy, kingdom hearts 1, 2, CoM, 2+FINAL MIX, and FFs from 1 to 12 (skipping 4, 6, 11 and NDS ones)
SO, im saying this FOR EXPERIENCE, KH HAS BETTER HISTORY AND GAMEPLAY THAN ROGUE GALAXY
and again, rogue galaxy is still a fun game i would recomend to anyone who has already played Kingdom Hearts

what do you exactly mean by GAMEPLAY? when i talk about that i mean the characters mobility and possibility of multiple attacks, RG is a good game but you only have main weapon, second weapon, and magic skills that stop the action to do a mid-grade-graphical animation about the attack you re going to launch....
and btw, the only thing on rogue galaxy in where you have to press the buttons at the right time, is FIRE STRIKE, nothing else requires precision at pushing buttons....

I agree ffX is way overrated, great game i loved it, one of the better rpgs out there, but it is no where near one of the top 5 of all time or so. For one, the world in FFX is very small, and exploration is very limited as compared to FFIX or FFVII or say FFXII.

The battles were the main thing I didn`t like about the game. It´s just button smashing. I prefer turn-based RPGs, because of these reasons:
1. You have to think. You need a strategy to beat enemies (at least bosses).
2. You can watch your enemy as long as you want. (I like to look at enemies and see: there is an eye, there is his tail and the one next to him has three eyes and really great-looking wings ...and so on.)

i just dont know kingdom hearts and rogue galaxy are the same but i vote for rogue galaxy i just love the quarry boss hunts and comedy
