I have a 97 Yamaha Virago 750. After I cleaned carbs I noticed that it did not have a fuel filter. I installed inline fuel filter with no fuel pump and it run for a while but then it started to cut off due to lack of fuel. I checked filter that had no fuel in it. I disconected the line and pressurized fuel started to pour out. So I just figured out that tank already has pressure in it. I thought it was gravetiy fed but it wasn't. Most bikes have fuel pressured already no need for a pump.
hi m8 i have a vf500f2 and i havent got a pump u will need bigger filters or fast flow filters because wen u wind them up it will suffer from petrol starvation ive 2 larrge filters on myn and it still happens now and again(cuts out)
I have a gravity feed system on mine. It runs fine. The 84/85 were known to run great without a fuel pump.
