As turks invaded Asia Minor some turks settled in Iran. Over years Iranians and turks mixed which made up Atropatene or Aturpatakan. The oldest kingdom known in azerbaijan is that of the Mannea who ruled a region southeast of Lake Urmia centered around modern Saqqez. The Manneans were a confederation of Iranian blood. azerbaijan never existed.
