  • There were already 13 editions of the bible in German translation provided for by the Catholic church for the Germans years BEFORE Luther was born. Yet the narrator said that Luther translated the bible in German, "something that had never been done before."

The people who made this video are either dumb, didn't do their reaseach or just flat out a bunch of liars out to mislead people.

  • Christ alone, faith alone, the scriptures alone. Thank God for Luther and the Protestant reformation. It brought the world out of the dark ages of superstition. The King James Bible is a light to the World. As for the Pope-he is a usurper who has set himself up as God. Jesus is the sole head of the church-not popes or bishops.Today's world needs a new reformation.

  • Where In The Bible does it say that THE Bible, The Scriptures alone are enough to save one?

    It doesnt, you Hellbound Heretic.

King James was a Sodomite Queer, and Luthers KJ Version has over 50 Miistranslations in it. Google KJ Mistranslations.

The Church asked for 10% Tithe and Is still today the World Largest Charity Organization.

Compare that to the Jew Fed Reserve and our 45% Taxes..Fool

Protest-ants = 35,0000 competing Sects, None can agree on anything

  • If I fail my test, I'm gonna come back and give a thumbs down.

    ...

  • so am i going too hell since i dont believe the pope is a higher authority? Wasent the pope Human arent we human so who has a right to say he is greater then anybody else he's not perfect no one is. He sins like anyother man the only perfect person was and is Jesus and by him dying on the cross for our sins were forgiven. God bless you

  • KÆÆÆÆÆÆÆÆÆÆÆÆÆÆÆÆÆÆÆÆÆÆÆÆÆÆÆÆÆÆÆFT DUI ER SYG

  • Evangelicals r Evil!

  • @lippertism catholics are evil. they know nothing about bible. otherwise they would not believe in relics, idols and saints as its against bible. and the pope is embodiment of satan as he leds his followers strightly to the hell.

  • I am currently a Christian leaving protestantism for Eastern Orthodoxy (I go to a conservative Lutheran church). Luther's (and all reformationists) entire theology revolve around sola scriptura and their interpretation of the bible (which is why there are 33,000 protestant churches). Sola scriptura is the most debunkable protestant belief and he made it up himself. It never existed before the 1600's and 2 Thessalonians 2:15 and John 21:25 disprove it. Luther was also a supporter of polygamy.

  • @bob21294 --Why Eastern Orthodox?

  • @WorldBibleUnion454 The Bishop of Rome separated from the other four patriarchs of Constantinople, Alexandria, Jerusalem, and Antioch in 1054. The RCC is not the original church and made theological and doctrinal developments to the faith mostly between the years 500-1100 AD such as the immaculate conception, filioque, papal supremacy, etc. The Eastern Orthodox Church made not such developments and kept the faith clean.

  • @bob21294 --Jesus said to no-one but Peter, "You are rock..." and "Feed my sheep"; there is to be one head over all Christianity just as there was one head over all the Jews. And if Mary had a sinful nature, how did she pass on her human nature to Jesus? Mary had to have a pure human nature to pass on to Jesus.

  • @WorldBibleUnion454 That does not make Peter above the other apostles. St. Paul writes in his Epistles about how he had to rebuke St. Peter. If you look at the role of the Bishop of Rome historically he was like a big brother rather than a dictator due to Rome being the center of the Roman Empire and having large sums of money. He often acted as an intercessor between churches, however, he was NOT above the other patriarchs. The Orthodox Church looked to him as a "first among equals."

  • @bob21294 --One Church Father said the Roman Church held "The Presidency"; The Orthodox believe Peter held a primacy of honor and not authority, but "the keys" mean that he was given authority from Christ just as God gave Eliakim authority over Judah and Jurusalem via "the key" on his shoulder in Isaia.

  • I respect the catholics but i don't understand the pope.. Why should he be closer to God than us? It doesnt seem like that friendly God I know.

  • @PYDDZIExTHECRAFTER --God made certain promises to whoever holds that office first held by Peter: If a question of the faith arises, the Pope will be guided by the Holy Spirit in giving a correct answer. He is invested with the authority of God in order to shepherd the Church.

  • I hear all this "We should all be under the Catholic church and not divided!"

When Luther made his criticisms the Catholic church tried to stamp him out (and others), they made no effort to reform until the revolt was well underway. The Catholic church abused the responsibility and power God had given them.

It's by their own hands they divided Christianity up, by refusing to mend their mistakes. What choice did people have but to protest and stand for the word of God, not merely the papacy?

  • @Sasimura Agreed....Luther did not originally intend to divide the Catholic church....his appeals for a general council were denied by Pope Leo X.

  • @Sasimura The Church was in the process of reformation well before Luther.

  • It's funny watching people argue over the right faith. Having none I can sit back

and laugh till the cows come home. Also this is a great video I'm learning a lot about the history of the world here.

  • It is a lie that calvinistic view supports fatalism. Its fully determinsm not fatalism.

  • We should all be Catholic, Marten Luther id an ass hole for inventing

  • I hear so much anger and judgement. Pray for the Holy Spirit to fill you with Love., Attend a Catholic Mass. Learn more about the Catholic teachings. And above all Love one another as Christ has asked us to do. John 13:34 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. Praise be to you Lord Jesus Christ. Glory Be to The Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

I pray the Holy Spirit blesses you with the Love of Christ. Amen.

  • @7209ann1222 i was raised catholic and my family is catholic but i believe the pope is an anti-christ not the vicar of christ and i dont believe in praying to saints making images and statues and bowing to them and praying before them praying to mary the beloved mother of christ either also if i was in another time i could be killed for believing this. Jesus taught love your enemies not burn them at the stake God bless you fellow Christian.

  • @VMP604 liar!!..you are not catholic! stop claiming because you obviously do not know your faith and the teaching of the church...you merely believe what you hear from the anticatholics.

  • @VMP604 I do not know why you would leave the rcc because the rcc is fully biblical and is founded by Jesus Christ. Come back to the church.

  • @VMP604 Brother im so glad your eyes have been opened. Looking forward to meeting you in heaven friend.

  • There has been corruption in the protestant church too at one time all another, the differences are that there are so many denomanations and just one Catholic Church, also I have never and I repeat never heard undkindness and judgement made by the catholic church or any true catholics I know about Protestants. Jesus asked that we all love one another not condem or argue. Where is the Love of Christ in all your anger! Mat 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. Pls, try loving and not so angry.

  • je sus . was a jew .jews were persecuted by the roman catholic church. which was invented in turkey.3 40 years after rome executed jesus.the vatican was the main escape rout e .for hitlers anti semetic killers who also persecuted jews jesus is the son of god what have the vatican child molesters got to say about that

  • The Bible is the only rule for faith and practice (2 Timothy 3:15-17, Acts 17:11, 2 Peter 3:1-2, 1 Thessalonians 2:13)

All believers are priests before God (1 Peter 2:9, Hebrews 10:19-20)

Jesus says in Matthew 11:28, "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. " He is talking about all who labor and heavy laden from trying to be saved or right with God by good works. We are saved by grace through faith alone. Come find rest for your souls by faith in Christ alone

  • All believers are saints (Eph 1:1 and pretty much every other intro to epistles calls all the believers saints)

There is one mediator between God and man. Not a priest, not Mary, and not dead people (1 Timothy 2:5-6)

The Bible tells us the truth, it is God's Word. It says these things. May the Lord open our eyes to the truth and have mercy on us, for His great name's sake!

  • And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers. 1 Thes. 2:13

But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. Galatians 1:8

If they say you cannot be saved by faith alone like the Bible does then they are antichrists- the catholic church

  • For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8,9 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. 1 Timothy 2:5,6

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints who are in Ephesus, and are faithful in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 1:1

  • EASTERN ORTHODOX IS BEFORE CHATOLIC CHURCH!!!!

  • @Babanghans Idiot.

  • This all should STOP! GOD IS PURE LOVE AND PROCLAIMED ONE CHURCH FOR ALL UNITED IN HIM. Fighting and arguing among each other is WRONG and if you know the HEART OF GOD you would know this DISPLEASES HIM. Instead of going against one another we should love one another and be united. Study do research, The only thing is true is that King Henry viii wanted a divorce and this was the only way for him to get what he wanted. check out catholic tv .com or ewtn.Blessings to you all.

  • @7209ann1222 GOD IS PURE LOVE AND PROCLAIMED ONE CHURCH FOR ALL UNITED IN HIM"

Then maybe God should have done something about the corruption in the catholic church

  • @badpanda84 WHO TYPED THE LAST COMMENT!!!! IT WASN'T 7209ann1222 someone is using it and I want it to stop! I never sent that reply. I DONT BELIEVE THAT THE POPE IS THE ANTI CHRIST I NEVER SAID ANY OF THOSE THINGS NOR DO I BELIEVE IT. I WILL NO LONGER COMMENT ON THIS IT IS A REAL SHAME AND VERY UN-CHRISTIAN THAT THIS HAS BEEN DONE

  • more "religions are being created than people"? .. good! people are entitled to whatever they beleive, religion as an official establishment, was only created in order to control people, if religion didnt happen, then humanity would probably have colonised other planest by now and found other species in the universe, we could of potentially found cures for cancer aids etc etc, religion stops growth

  • "What I mean is this: One of you says, "I follow Paul" ; another, "I follow Apollos" ; another, "I follow Cephas" : still another, "I follow Christ." Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul?"

    ~1 Corinthians 1:12-13

  • As i've watched part 1 and part 2 of this video all i see is man doing what man wants and not man doing what Jesus Christ wants.

  • @bigboyburnsy What do you mean?

  • @Bycoon What i'm trying to point out is that we should not be following men because all men are imperfect, we should be following the perfect Christ Jesus.

  • @bigboyburnsy Ok I was just wondering lol cause I wasn't what ur point was

  • he translated the bible BUT changed words and removed books. His disciples changed his mind so that James and Revelation would come back to Holy Scripture.

On his death bed, Luther says, more religions are being created than people.

  • The diet of worms. Lower case changes it all!

  • bueller? ......bueller?

  • Calvinism makes life pointless.

  • good enough documentary ive seen better

  • Has anyone ever heard of a denomination that imposes a salary cap on its members? Couldn't help but to wonder after watching the two parts to this...

  • Most Protestants today have fell back into Roman Catholicism by becoming Arminians,of course they just leave off all the rituals, but the do believe like Rome, that man can control God,when the Bible teaches just the opposite. They refuse to believe in Election and predestination as the Bible teaches.

  • Not a very accurate description of Calvinistic thought.

  • I am protestant by doctrine, but the antagonism between the 2 sides shows me that they were as evil as each other. Luther and co had the sounder doctrine but given their foul tempers etc it was worthless to them.

I am no catholic but I reject the Reformation as a disgrace, a work of the flesh, and , being loveless, totally worthless

  • @Strefanash Well, I'm a Catholic, and I don't think the Reformation was a disgrace. It is something that just had to happen. That Luther had a point - well 95 of them - was given credence by the Catholic church's own reformation, which got rid of some of the canonical deadwood. I got into a lot of trouble at school for saying that the reunification of Christianity was not a good idea; and for saying that the Pope was infallible is ridiculous.

  • Thank you for posting this. It's a hug help for my Church History course. Thank you!

  • In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. John 14:2

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14:3.

Obviously those who are Christ's are with Christ in the Heaven of God.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. Rom 6:8

    READ Phil 1:23 WITH CHRIST

  • @glizag I affirm, as I pointed out in my last comment, that all go to be in the presence of God, "WITH CHRIST" as you say.

  • @DopoNotte THEN WHERE ARE THE WICKED DEAD ~ its an easy question ~ they have to be somewhere ~ all will not go to heaven book of Rev describes a Lake of Fire ETERNAL, this is Hell proper.

But you must answer where are the wicked death at this point today.

I have to go out now ~ chat later if you wish

  • God knows where the wicked are, God knows who the wicked are. Why do you ask the question "where are the wicked dead," if you are unable to know who the wicked are in the first place? And as I have stated, Heaven is in the presence of God and so is Hell being in the presence of God. So I guess my answer would "the wicked dead are in the presence of God."

  • This video is bogus when it starts talking about the Orthodox. First, Catholics split from the Orthodox. Second it happened in 1054, NOT the 5th century lol. In fact it wasn't until 1204 that the last Catholic was received for communion in Antioch. Much later than the 5th century.

  • ..I'm not sure why people would call Calvin a Refomer, as he believed in force of consience. His methodology mimiced precisely the very thing that kindled the Reformation in the first place. Calvin was Catholic trained, and this ruse he put on of being a Protestant was more than likely concocted by the Jesuit Order.

  • Good video.

  • This is a great tool for students to use since it is about HISTORY of religions. Students can then compare and contrast the likenesses and differences with other religions. May I say, I am the worst as well. I do comment about things on videos in reflection of my faith. What I failed to realize is that "children" view these videos. We need to observant of the defamation of others that we due in the name of religion. Please be wise and listen from within.

  • did Luther hate jews?

  • I think the Protestant reformation was one of the worst things to ever happen to Christianity. It was from the Reformation that we have thousands upon thousands of denominations of Christianity, each sharding further away from each other because of everyones own interpretations. The Protestants turned the Bible from a deeply spiritual and metaphorical book into nothing but a dry legalistic document with no substance and concerned almost exclusively with law which was to be taken literally.

  • While not relgion Maritn Luther was responsible for getting soceity our of the dark ages. Society progressed once the catholic church lost power

  • The description on the calvinistic doctrine of predestination- given is this video- is not accurate. It states that (a) God knows those who will go to hell or heaven before they are even born and (b) a person may end up in hell, even if he leads a moral life.

To the first point. God SOVERIGNLY DECREES those who are saved, appart from human will or merit. To the second point. God seals those whom He has chosen for all eternity according to His preserving grace.

  • This person obviously does not understand the doctrine of election. Too lengthy to explain here, but we should look at the doctrine not the actions of men.

  • there is no true religion. as long as you serve and fear the creator then thats all that matters. its people who make up their own ways to serve the lord. isnt it funny how many religions are similar? simply love each other, yourselves, and god's creation and you'll live a happier life

  • Now they say England is on a path to become Muslim.

  • Of course Luther removed a number of books from the Old Testament, including Ruth. While seven were removed, Ruth for one ended up staying. Another was James, which Luther described as the "book of straw". It went against his theories of good works. It ended up surviving. Another is Revelation, which is the most influential book for the modern Protestant. Funny that.

  • When you think about it logically ~~ these braindead Catholic Apologists are always crowing that Luther removed the Apocrypha from the Bible.

The funny thing is that they have the Apocrypha in their Catholic bibles still TODAY.

I have my bible without the Apocrypha and I'm very happy with it, I dont need those books.

And Catholics have the 7 books in their bible , so what are they moaning about, they have their books, we have our books.

I think its just a way to keep jabbing at reformers

  • Can I ask you what community Matthew is writing for? You are obviously well endorsed in Christian understanding, so I am assuming you will know the answer to this question.

  • Matthew intends to prove to the Jews that Jesus Christ is the promised Messiah. More than any other gospel, Matthew quotes the Old Testament to show how Jesus fulfilled the words of the Jewish prophets. Matthew describes in detail the lineage of Jesus from David, and uses many forms of speech that Jews would have been comfortable with.

  • @glizag

No. Luther removed the deuterocanonicals from the OT canon and placed them between the OT and NT, calling these the Apocrypha. Simply put, he changed the OT canon by this act. In the last 150 years or so, Protestant Bibles no longer include the deuteros and are therefore lacking books that were considered canon for 1500 years before Luther came onto the scene. You might ask yourself why he did this....

  • @pseudorandom331 Jerome was against adding the Apocrypha to scripture as he was doubtful about the Inspiration of those writings, but the were added by the RCC anyway after his death.

There are so many problems within the Apocrypha, that it wouldn't take a rocket scientist very long to realize that the Apocrypha could not be inspired, the only reason RCC added the Apocrypha was because it appeared to support some of their doctrines, otherwise no one outside of RCC would consider it scripture.

  • @glizag Jerome appears to have rejected most of the deuterocanonical parts of Scripture. But he did accept portions and included all seven books in his Latin translation of Scripture - the Vulgate.

Early Christians read the Greek translation of the Old Testament, the Septuagint. It included the seven deuterocanonical books. The New Testament authors quoted freely from the Septuagint—over 300 times. So your argument that the RCC added the "Apocrypha" to the OT is fallacious twaddle!

    Pax!

  • @pseudorandom331 The Vulgate is another load of garbage, compare its translation to any other, and its a joke

  • @pseudorandom331 The Apocrypha talks about using magic in Tobias6:5-7 it talks about Salvation by works in Tobias 4:11, & 12:9 it talks about offering money for the sins of the dead in 2nd Mac 12:43 it even has wrong historical facts Judith 1:5, & Baruch 6:2, Baruch 6:2 says the Jews would serve in Babylon for 7generations where Jer. 25:11 says it was for 70 years

THESE WRITINGS ARE FAR FROM INSPIRED yet the RCC accept the whole lot errors & all

Who in their right mind could accept this rubbish

  • @glizag I see. So Luther, being himself "inspired", decided that he knew better than the Catholic Church that set the canon of the New Testament that you yourself use.

You say that the deuteros are "far from inspired." So by what divine authority do you make such a ridiculous statement? Oh wait - it's by the same authority that Luther claimed - by his own. There is your rubbish!

  • @pseudorandom331 If you cannot understand what I posted so be it I shall have to conclude that you believe in giving money for the sins of the dead & you have to go with Salvation by works & you are not against practicing magic as these things are taught in the Apocrypha lastly how can they be inspired when they cannot even get the historical facts right

if you want to accept all this as inspired be my guest ~ its a mish mash of error

Do you believe what the Apocrypha teaches? I guess you do WOW

  • @glizag Do you know that Jewish tradition taught and still teaches intercessory prayer for the dead? Who do you think it was that wrote these books? Look - you are simply wrong from both a theological and historical standpoint. Do some honest investigation on the subject - and Jimmy Swagart doesn't count! ;)

  • @pseudorandom331 No Jew will accept the Apocrypha as inspired NONE, so what are you crowing about?

The Apocrypha is a bad joke ~ anyone that compares its teaching to scripture can see this, the bible O/T forbids communication with the dead ie, those that are passed on

  • @glizag Why would you care what the Jews think about the OT canon? They don't even consider the New Testament as inspired.

So, the bible forbids communication with the dead, hmmm? Read about the transfiguration. Jesus was communicating with the dead - specifically Moses and Elijah. Wrong again!

  • @pseudorandom331 Jews dont accept the Messiah either, Unto the Jews were the Oracles of God committed.

Jesus did not pray to Moses & Elijah, LIKE RCs pray to physically dead people.

Jesus was God in flesh and certainly has power to do whatever he wishes, but he has forbidden people to practice Necromancy (trying to communicate with the Dead)

RCs will try anything to prop up their Pope, keep their idols, and continue to practice outlandish things

I suggest that you examine exactly what U believe

  • @glizag

I just caught you in a flat out falsehood about scriptures forbidding communicating with the dead and you respond with more false accusations? Sweet...

The bottom line is that you are either seriously ignorant about history or you are intellectually dishonest. To deny the facts is to let bias overcome reason. Deal with it!

  • @pseudorandom331 Man you sound angry do you practice communication with the dead ~ those who have physically died I guess you do !!

What did I say that was dishonest I SAID watch now ~ Jesus did not pray to Moses & Elijah ~ but RCs pray to dead people ~ in essence ~ that means that they are practicing a form of Necromancy ~ which is FORBIDDEN IN THE O/T

    Are you unaware of this?

So I suggest you get a bible and find all your RCC doctrines within it ~ I promise you that you will have a hard time

  • @glizag Oh lordy... on top of everything else, you don't even know the deffinition of the word Necromancy:

(pronounced /ˈnɛkrɵmænsi/; Greek νεκρομαντεία nekromantía, via Latin necromantia) is a form of magic in which the practitioner seeks to summon the spirit of a deceased person, either as an apparition or ghost, or to raise them bodily, for the purpose of divination.

That has NOTHING to do with your accusations against praying to the saints.

  • @pseudorandom331 I know very well what the term means ~ I ask why do you try communicate with the dead ~ in PRAYER Simple Q.

How do you know RCC saints are actually in heaven? ~ let me guess because some Pope told you so Wow.

Why do you need to pray to dead saints ~ since there is only ONE MEDIATOR between God and Man the Man Christ Jesus.

    I need no other Mediators.

RCs do because mother church tells them they are a good thing ~ that is funny stuff from such a CORRUPT SYSTEM WOW INDEED

  • @glizag If you want to check out intercessory prayer read Luke 7:1-10. There are three layers of intercessory prayer. First the Jews intercess on behave of the Centurion. Then the centurion intercesses on behalf of his servant. Then the allegory of military intercession, that you have power b/c you give respect to those above you. Lk 7:8"And I say to one, 'Go' and he goes; or I say to one 'Come' and he comes."

  • @DopoNotte No where does scripture recommend that you pray to those passed on ~ NOWHERE ~ it's simply an RCC invention ~ it really amounts to necromancy, or communication with the dead.

I again repeat One Mediator between God and Man ~ the man Christ Jesus, no where does it say that there are a load of SUB mediators, thats like saying, sure there is only ONE GOD, but there are thousands of sub gods too, does that sound logical/

Why go to inferior beings when you can go DIRECTLY to CHRIST I ask?

  • @glizag If you notice in the Gospel accounts all those who went directly to Christ left ashamed; the lawyer, the rich man, the Pharisee, just to name a few. By contrast all those who were honored by Christ went through indirect means, either climbing a tree, or tearing a roof off, or a random meeting at a well. To ask others for mediation, the centurion asking the Jews (Luke 7:1-10) or Mary mediating for the wedding (John 2:3) shows humility which is a great virtue.

  • @DopoNotte Jesus said COME UNTO Me all ye that are heavy laden and I WILL GIVE YOU REST, he never told anyone to go to someone else in order to be a SUB MEDIATOR on their behalf its illogical, unbiblical, & worthless

If I am need to confess sins committed to God I do go to Mary to confess through her I go to the Father through Jesus Christ, the same applies when making intercessory prayers for myself I dont seek out some person passed on to pray for me how do you know they are even in heaven?

  • @glizag And again about prayers to the "dead." Do you pray for sick family members? Why are you playing for the dead. You think b/c someone dies from this life means they die? No. Saints are those who are alive in Christ. They are more alive then you and I are right now. If you pray for your family members and the peace of the whole world, you do more "necromancy" work then those who pray to Saints for Jesus says "let the DEAD bury their own dead."

  • @glizag Let me remind you that at the end of the centurion story, Luke 7:1-10, after the centurion states that he has power b/c he respects those above him who gives it to him (intercessory prayer) that Christ says "I have not found so much faith in all of Israel." The centurion, asking Jesus to heal his servant, finds his servant healed. It wasn't the personal faith of the servant, it wasn't b/c the servant went DIRECTLY to Christ, but b/c of the intercession of the centurion!

  • @DopoNotte We are talking here about LIVING BREATHING PEOPLE in those passages not dead people & you so immersed in this obsession with communicating with the dead that you cannot go directly to Christ?

How do you know the people who are passed on even HEAR YOU? how do you know they are even in heaven?

I think those in heaven would be caught up in the pure worship of God rather than having to listen to people down here WHO DONT HAVE THE PERSONAL FAITH TO GO TO CHRIST ALONE, That is the problem

  • @glizag "We are talking about LIVING BREATHING PEOPLE." The unfortunate thing is the people around you, including yourself, are not living. Until you realize that you're dead and that you must continually die unto yourself, you're no where NEAR the Cross. We know they hear us b/c of two stories; the feast of the Transfiguration where Moses and Elijah appeared to Peter, James and John; and when Father Abraham spoke to the greedy rich man who ignored Lazarus.

  • @DopoNotte All are dead in trespass and sin until they are Regenerated by the Holy Spirit, which is called the New Birth, you dont bark to become a dog, you bark because you are a dog, my point is this, taking up your cross every day without the New Birth is pointless, & of no value, because you are trying to please God with self righteous efforts this is useless Isaiah 64:6

As regards Moses & Elijah, not one on that Mount prayed to them.

Rich man spoke to Abraham, but his prayer went unanswered

  • @glizag I completely disagree that the rich man's prayers went unanswered. And as stated by Evagrius of Pontus in the 6th century, the eschatological certainty (whether or not the rich man is STILL in hell) is unknown. You are right that none of the Apostles prayed to Moses and Elijah, I am simply pointing out that we know of people who are in heaven to answer your earlier question. I also disagree about the cross. Picking it up and carrying it leads us to our new birth.

  • @DopoNotte The rich man went to HADES, and he is still there to this day, his opportunity is now gone forever, hades is just a holding place until the Great White Throne Judgment, when the unsaved dead will be formally sentenced, & then cast into the Lake of Fire

WHY would you believe that the rich man is no longer in Hades? that is a strange remark, there is no escape from Hell once you get there, he asked for water, he didn't get it, he asked for someone to go to his brothers, it was REJECTED

  • @glizag Since Christ holds the keys of hades and death (Rev. 1:18). I do not pretend to be judge what Christ will do with those keys. You believe that if you repent you will be forgiven. The rich man repented, he showed compassion for others; thus God, who is full of compassion and mercy, can accept his repentance. His pray is answered b/c Christ was there in his brother's midst and in fact it is Abraham, not Christ, who answers it!

  • @glizag Christ went to Hades to free those who are there; this includes the rich man in the parable.

  • @DopoNotte Christ went to Hades HELL to proclaim that Redemption was completed, he never freed one person in Hades, what are you talking about those in Hades are classed as the wicked, they are now doomed forever at Christ's Ascension he took a group of Righteous people to heaven with him the rich man did not qualify, because he was already condemned to Hell, no one gets out of Hell, if it was so ~ then Hell would not be eternal.

Christ freed no one from Hades, that is now their eternal portion

  • @glizag Please cite a source from Scripture to support your claims about Hades.

  • @DopoNotte Lots and lots Matt 5:29, Luke 12:5, Luke 16:26, Acts 2:31, 2nd Peter 2 : 4, Rev 20:13, Rev 20:10, Rev 20:14, Rev 20:15, 1st Peter 3:19 etc etc etc.

Hell is eternal ~ there is no getting out of that horrible place if you die and unregenerate, unsaved, sinner.

  • Matt 5:29, Luke 12:5 do not say forever; Luke 16:26 is before Christ broke the doors to Hades and death; Acts 2:31 proves my point "that His soul was not left in Hades." 2 Peter 2:4 does not say forever, Rev 20:10 shows the devil is forever but not us. Rev 20:13 proves my point that we do not stay in Hades forever; for after Judgment we can be received into the Kingdom. Rev 20:14 shows that Hades and Death are not even forever! So how is it we can be there forever when itself is not eternal

  • @DopoNotteWatch again, Hades was the place of the wicked dead, a holding place until the Great White Throne Judgment, then the LAKE OF FIRE.

Where do you think the wicked dead are today?

Christ was not left in Hades, because he only went there to proclaim the Redemption accomplished, he TOOK NO ONE OUT OF HADES, NO ONE.

They are there until their final sentence, dont you understand this.

Hell is eternal, and the Lake of fire is HELL PROPER, no escape.

Again I ask where are the wicked dead.

  • @glizag How do you know Christ took no one out of Hades? Were you there? Maybe the preacher who taught you how to read the Bible was there? I do not know where the wicked dead are b/c I'm not God. I do not know all things. Why do you think that those who are current in Hades will be judged to eternal punishment? Rev 20:10 simply says their works will be judged. How do you know this = eternal punishment? You assume a lot of things.

  • @DopoNotte That is funny stuff ~ since the RCC have only infallibly interpreted 7 verses of the N/T altogether, and the rest to them & RCs is unchartered waters.

Tell me anyone who got out of Hades ~ I know no one?

Tell me where the dead are if not in Hades? ~ I'd like your answer.

if they are not in hades, or in the lake of fire as yet ~ they must be somewhere ~ where it is horrible under God's judgment.

  • I'm not Catholic I can not answer for infallibility or what they claim. I do not know of people released from Hades for I do not know those who are there. What I do know is that through the Resurrection Christ broke the doors to Hades and freed those who are there. Orthodox profess that Heaven and Hell are actually the same place. We all go to be with God; if we are filled with Christ then we will see kinship with God and know that we are Sons of God, or it will be torment being in His presence

  • @DopoNotte So you have not really proved that Living people should pray to those gone from this life at all we are to pray DIRECTLY to God through Jesus Christ why are you not understanding this?

Jesus told the disciples how to pray & it started OUR FATHER WHICH ART IN HEAVEN, it did not start hail mary or any other such gibberish, & I think I would rather go with the words of Jesus than some Pope in a dress, dont you.

You cannot give me on example of someone in scripture praying to dead people

  • @glizag Actually I have. The centurion in Luke 7:1-10 does not go DIRECTLY to Jesus but asks Jews to plead on his behalf. It is not even the centurion who is sick, but he asks the Jews to go on the behalf of his own servant! Then Jesus comes and upon hearing the faith of the centurion, vs 8, heals the centurions servant. So it wasn't the faith of the servant but the faith of the centurion that healed the servant.

  • @glizag As I have said before about "praying to dead people." Saints are not dead - they are in fact more alive than you and I am. So no I don't pray to dead people; I pray to those who are alive in Christ, those who in their Love for God are no longer sons of men but Sons of God, and by trusting in their intercessions I trust in the powers of heaven, in the Living God Himself.

  • @DopoNotte again we are talking abot living people praying for living people ~ dont you believe in Jesus Words, PRAY THUS, OUR FATHER, you dont know who is in Heaven, lots of so called RC saints might be in hades, ~ in Scripture ~ believers are called SAINTS, LIVING BELIEVERS, are we to pray to living saints?

    That makes no sense.

RCs will do anything to keep their dogmas of praying to dead departed people, that you haven't a clue where they actually are, not a clue, unless you believe some Pope

  • @glizag Living people? Let the dead bury their own dead. How many times must I say this - YOU ARE DEAD. When it matters you are not living. When it matters Mary, Peter, Paul, James, John etc are more ALIVE and LIVING than you are. Figure this out!

  • @glizag I want to point out that you make the argument that we do not know who is in heaven, regarding saints, yet you make the argument that the rich man is FOREVER in Hades, even though Christ later went to Hades after His death to rescue those there. Double-minded much? (James 1:6-8)

  • @glizag Regarding "Living people" as it is written in Luke's Gospel the thief is rewarded paradise. But the actual Greek wording is this "Today you will be with me in the Garden," meaning Eden. We have all reason to believe that the thief is in the flesh in the Garden of Eden much like Adam and Eve before the fall; meaning he is more alive than anyone on earth.

  • @DopoNotte Pardise is where the repentant thief went he went there because the Resurrection had not happened yet, he was declared righteous, he today is in heaven while the Rich man is still in Hades, get a bible and read it, it explains the whole thing to you, no one that is CONDEMNED TO HELL ever gets out dont you get it yet, HELL IS ETERNAL, there is no hope after death if you die CONDEMNED, no amount of masses or prayers to dead people ever got one person out of Hell, BECAUSE HELL IS FOREVER

  • @glizag Quote Scripture to support your claims that either paradise (the Garden) is different from heaven, and that Hades = Hell = eternal, condemned forever. Please cite Scripture. Otherwise your claims are idle and traditions of men preached by false prophets.

  • @glizag As I have stated "paradise" actually means "the Garden" meaning Garden of Eden, meaning there are people there, in the flesh, "breathing" and more "alive" and "living" than anyone on earth. Meaning we don't pray to "dead" people. And since they are Sons of God filled entirely with Christ, for it is Christ who lives in them, praying to them is praying to God Himself.

  • @DopoNotte Paradise was where the righteous dead went before the Resurrection, why was Abraham in Paradise, because the Resurrection hadn't happened yet.

Sure its a word for garden, but its a place of peace, and tranquility, after the Resurrection, Christ took all those in Paradise to the 3rd Heaven or Heaven of God, it's simple theology.

Do you think Lazarus is still in Paradise ~ what is he doing in Paradise, when his Saviour is in heaven, wow !!

  • @glizag Paradise = the Garden = Heaven = the Kingdom of God. Heaven is simply being in God's presence; as Adam and Eve were in the Garden, hence why Jesus says Lule 21:17, "the Kingdom of God is within you," some say "is in your midst." I do not see a distinction made ANYWHERE in Scripture to say heaven is different than the Kingdom of God is different from paradise. Please show me where it says this.

  • @DopoNotte St Paul went to Paradise 2nd Cor 12:4.

How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. Rev 2:7

This is where the Dying thief is today.

  • @glizag As I have stated the righteous are in paradise, the garden, where the tree of Life is. The question is why do you think this place is different then heaven and the Kingdom of God? If they are partaking of the tree of life then they have flesh, and are breathing, meaning they are fully alive and LIVING!

  • @glizag Actually Paul isn't talking about himself in 2nd Cor 12:4; also look what he states "whether bin the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know -God knows." Fascinating the humility we see in St. Paul. So he comes out and says he doesn't know but God knows, and here you are writing comments saying you know these things. Curious.......It's also interesting that you reference him as "St." Paul.

  • @DopoNotte YES HE IS ~ Read on the chapter ~ how he was given a thorn in the flesh to stop him getting proud ~ Paul was talking about himself.

If you think he wasnt then who was he talking about?

It was himself ~ he had either a vision, or was taken directly to the heaven of God, its easy to understand if you read the whole chapter.

  • @glizag Okay if I'm wrong I'm wrong; if it's the Apostle then it's the Apostle.

  • @glizag Regarding prayer to the dead: You ask your friends and family, maybe your pastor to pray for you when you need it right? Then why do YOU ask the dead to pray for you? Do not be double-minded! Jesus says "Let the dead bury their own dead." I believe you will agree that we are all dead in our sin. This is why Jesus says "let the dead bury their own dead." Therefore those who are alive in Christ are alive, in fact more alive than you or I are right now.

  • @glizag You say there is one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus. Yet you do not notice how many mediators there are between us and the man Christ Jesus! John 2:1-12 shows the intercession of the Theotokos (Mary) with Christ. It is not the wedding guests nor the bride and groom who approach Christ to say they have no wine, but it is Mary, the Mother of God (John 2:3). Of course Christ knew it and knew what He must do, hence vs 4, but that takes nothing away from what Mary did.

  • @glizag said " know very well what the term means ~ I ask why do you try communicate with the dead ~ in PRAYER Simple Q"

No -because those in heaven are ALIVE - Got it? Good!

  • @pseudorandom331 RCC so called saints are simply made saints by some guy in a fancy dress that sits on a throne proclaiming himself to be Christ's vicar

We are never encouraged in bible to pray to those who are passed from this life 1st because they cannot hear or answer prayers 2nd it cannot be verified that those the Pope declared saints are actual saints in heaven

Bible talks about living saints & all believers are referred to as saints in bible

Why pray to the inferior when Jesus is Mediator

  • @glizag:

    1) Do you know what the word "vicar" means?

    2) Saints are declared as those who are saintly enough on Earth to be in heaven - that doesn't mean that they are and the Church never says such.

3)Those in heaven can hear and answer us if God allows it; they don't cease to be members of the body of Christ when they get to heaven.

4)The prayers of a righteous man (or woamn) availeth mush - so, who's more righteous than those in heaven?

You obviously know nothing about Catholic doctrine.

  • Wrong Protest-ant Heretic

Do the saints pray in heaven? Revelation tells us:

    Rev 5:8

'And when he had taken the book, the 4 beasts and 4 [and] 20 elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the PRAYERS OF SAINTS'

Rev 8:3 'And another angel came and stood at the altar, that he should offer with THE PRAYERS OF ALL SAINTS upon the golden altar which was before the throne'

James 5:16 'Those In Heaven are perfectly righteous'

  • And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. Rev 5:8

Personal prayers of the saints I ask which saints those in heaven or those on earth as all believers are called saints how do you know all those RC so called saints are actually in heaven is it because the Pope says so?

In heaven these saints were not praying on behalf of human petitions

  • Hebrews 12:22

But YE ARE COME UNTO the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, and to God the Judge of all, AND TO THE SPIRITS OF JUST MEN MADE PERFECT'

GOT IT Heretic? Its simple..Spirits, Angels, Those in Heaven

    Revelation 5:8 'PRAYERS OF SAINTS'

James 5:16 “” Those in heaven are perfectly righteous, their prayers are efficacious.'

Peter was the First Pope-Told to FEED MY LAMBS 3 Times

Given the 'KEYS TO THE KINGDOM To Loose & To BIND'

  • @StSimonMartyr you think the saints in heaven are making petitions to God on behalf of the living on earth it never even hints at this all believers living or dead are called saints

If that is so we can also petition the saints on the earth to be mediators I asked you which saints are U talking about & where does it hint in Rev 5:8 that they are making intercessory prayer for anyone NOWHERE

Abraham was a righteous man, & believers are declared righteous by God WHO ARE THESE SAINTS U petition

  • YES

The Great Saints-Joseph, St Michael, St Anthony, St Stephen killed by Jews, St Paul, St Peter..

Scripture says their prayers are 'efficacious.'

We Ask them to pray FOR us. TO GOD.

Scripture also says they are perfectly Righteous.

Look in the Catholic Tridentine Liturgy. Almost all of the prayers are to Jesus, to GOD.

  • @glizag I would also like to remind you that there are chronological problems in scripture - mainly because the writers of the books in question are not considered to have placed importance on time/historical facts, etc. Just a thought...

  • @glizag What are you talking about "they have their books, we have our books."It's not TWO different books!!!

The Bible started with the first Christians which is the Catholic Church. Without the Catholic Church we would have no Bible at all for everyone to take apart and use for their own agenda. Why all this division??? When God is LOVE and TRUTH the Catholic Bible is the COMPLETE BIBLE. Four over 1,000 years it was the ONLY BIBLE, until others caused division among all Christians.

  • The reformation and all the killing is in line while bible teaching. The Catholics said we teach love, follow our way or we will slaughter you. The Protests say the same. The bible teaches is to love Gods way, or you will suffer in hell and be eternally punished. So whats the difference.

  • @craggles

I agree but the key diffrence is

Catholic actually slaugtered and tortured people a few centuries ago ( in a ways that would make Jesus' cruficution look like a walk in the park.

Protests say you will suffer in hell but at least they let God take care of the punsihment and not do it themselves

  • Actually, have you not heard of the Calvinists? They were probably the most brutal of any group. What's more, the Protestants were just as bad as the Catholics, remembering of course most of the Protestants were Catholics, and their killing remained for a LONG time.

  • When people find out they have been scammed all there life ( ie the selling of indulgences scam) of course they are going to be pissed off.

But at least they didnt burn and torture people like the catholics did

  • A? Maybe can I suggest you go and learn a bit of history my friend, or are you only reading what you want to read?

  • I think everyone reads only what they want to read ( catholics included

But you got to admit the catholic dont exactly have a very "nice" ( for lack of a better word) history

  • @badpanda84 calvinists and other protestant sects burnt heretics as well. read ben kaplan's divided by faith

  • @badpanda84 During this reformation, all sides had blood on their hands. Sadly Calvinists murdered as did Lutherans and Catholics. I wish the CC would have reformed earlier and then we would never of had 30000 churches claiming they each have the truth but practice differently. Union? Only in the One True Church.

Don't leave Peter because of Judas.

  • @xukeith33 Of course the Catholic Church would never have reformed if it was for martin Luther...

  • @badpanda84 Are you kidding me? The prots also engaged in "witch burnings"

  • @leafkill9 OK to be fair all relgion is bad -

  • .

Remember Christians, the will of God is no Catholic, Protestant,Orthodox, Penticostal, Adventist, JW, Etc. NO DIVISION, Only Christians, holy, helping and sharing instead of buying and selling.

"That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me." (John 17:9-21)

    .

  • AND BLESSED WILLIAM TYNDAL == who persevered in getting a Bible into our hands that we could understand without the yoke orf Rome on our necks

  • Pope tried to keep the bible in latin ~ thank God the old goat failed.

John Wycliff gave us the bible in english, again he fooled the Pope that old goat on a throne in Rome.

Thank God for the Reformers, that brought the world out of the dark ages of papal tyranny/

  • Actually, the RCC regularly discussed translating the bible into English, but given Latin is an inflicted language, and is a far more accurate language to translate the ancient scriptures into, it was deem that it would distort the actual meaning of the bible. Which it has.

  • In reality,Peter never really founded the Catholic church. He was never the 1st pope as many mistakenly believe.Peter was sent to preach to the tribes of Israel only and the apostle Paul was sent to preach to the gentiles only.

The idea that Peter was the 1st pope is false and it has no proof in the Bible.Jesus' words to Peter mean something else and not really a pagan church that he was gonna build.False ideas and heresies entered the false Christian church earlier and still remains now.

  • What a total distortion of Christian history. Many facts were left out and we were pushed to believe the views of the film maker.

  • I think Christ made a mistake when he gave Peter the keys. I mean look at the Church he created, the whore of Babylon! After Peter laid hands on Linus (2nd Pope) everything went to hell, but yet the Catholic Church still blossoms1.3 billion to date. Im glad Martin Luther didnt reform the Church... but succeeded in deforming it.
