The needle is the traditional form of stimulation, but it is not necessarily the needle that is doing the work. Acupuncture is a principle, not a technique. There are many ways to stimulate energy -- needle, pressure, heat, electrical stimulation, light, thought -- and yes, the energy and intention from the acupuncturist is key. The needle has often been likened to an antenna -- just a vessel to conduct that energy.
There are many theories about how acupuncture works. It all about energy. No one can fully explain it in Western terms -- it just works. It has been healing people for over 5000 years. It works for babies and animals and people young and old. Acupuncture works.
so the idea of inserting needles is to relieve the body of excessive energy that is blocking the channels? or a build up of energy that for some reason has blocked a channel?
@CT2507 The needle is like a key that unlocks energy within the channel. It can act to unlock energy, or stimulate movement along the channel to promote a smooth flow of harmonious energy so the body can glow with good health and wellness.
@websmartvideos yea, i know that basic theory. but still i fail to understand what the needles are really doing. like, is it really the needles that are doing the work. or is it the acupuncturists energy that is working through the needles?
why is it good for the energy channels to have metal stuck into them? are the needles releasing a build-up in certain places that the body cant by itself?
cause all this talk about stimulating is too broad for me. everything stimulates. the tv stimulates.
@CT2507 This is my channel and I've been sending your questions to the acupuncturist so she can reply. Her last reply was too long for one comment, so I'm posting it as two separate comments. Thanks.

@websmartvideos i dont doubt that it works. im just trying to get my mind around the HOW and the WHY.
but as u say there are many theories, and probably no one really knows why the needles can heal. or help the body heal itself.
cheers.

...or are there more reasons for the needles?
