yeah the base S60 is just a 2.5 there is no turbo and since the car is 3700 pounds its not going to be that quick

the turbo in the 2.5T is only peak 8lb boost but the R series and the T5 S60 are peak 14 lb boost and that rly gets the car going

they are still rly close cars far beyond anything most people have.

as the r is the racing volvo the m3 is the racing bmw the T5 in this video is almost as good as the bmw but either way both cars rate almost exactly the same just the volvo is safer

BMW also makes turbo cars, so don't blame volvo for making a better one. The 2.5T in the volvo S60R makes almost the same power as a BMW 335i on 1 less cylinder, 1 liter less displacement and 1 less turbocharger. Also...you don't use a turbo when you are cruising, it's only in play with the engine is loaded. So your boost and autobahn statement=junk

@josevaldizan Pretty sure it was, considering the gauges on the cluster, but the Volvo did have a pretty decent jump on the M. Either way the S60 is pretty quick regardless. you are right tho, an M3 will most likely eat any volvo..

there is no T5r in the newer volvos... There is the S60R and V70R.

This is either the "old" 250hp 2,3l T5 or the newer 260hp 2,4l T5... the 2,4l T5 is technically same engine as S60/V70R (except that R engine has bigger bore, bigger fuel injectors and other software) everything else on the engine and intake is exactly the same.

The T5 2,3 and 2,4 is also more stable when going over 400hp because the 2,5R has weaker walls between the cylinders because of the bigger bore.

I just got myself a 2006 V70 T5 (260 hp stock)... same engine as the R has (just has other ECU software and 2.5 l instead of 2.4... that car goes like stink even stock.. i will do MTE Software Upgrade.... TME 3" Downpipe and TME 3" Catback Exhaust... it will do 350 hp and 500 nm.... I dont know if i will add bigger injectors and aquamist.... I bet MTE could push it close to 400 hp then... But over 400 isnt possible without having spend big money

my s60 turns into a big silver sledge on snow and ice. In the rain turn to sharp and you will be facing the opposite way looking at your back end. However i agree in the right circumstance it does handle well for ff.

Mine was fine through the ice last month.

I aquaplaned for the first time a few days ago in wet under heavy braking (mid corner - normaly do all my braking before a corner but this time i was in error) - the back end fish tailed for about half a second...it felt like it travel about a meter to the left and then either my steering inputs or the anti skid brought it back... it felt quite easy.

The volvo t5 probly has an ecu upgrade, which would put it around 320 torques and at like 280hp. Thats what the t5 gets with most of the ecu tunes for s60's ive seen. Maybe a dp or something too but it doesnt sound that modded. To be fair I bet the M3 is better around a track. But the i5 turbo sound is fantastic!
