This courtroom drama is top notch! I recently watched Puncture, a film about two lawyers who are fighting for justice within the health realm. Chris Evan's character has the same self-determination and dedication of Tom Cruise, so if you enjoyed this you should definitely check out Puncture Trailer- bit . ly/vMy1X6
@enternalrainbow Because of the violent content and the murder. There's serious speculation as to whether or not the story was taken from actual event that involved an assault and death of a Marine. The fella who made the claims it was his story after the movie came out, was murdered after. No one knows who the killer was still.
@Tilaktiwari93 because Cruise is the main actor in the film's billing playing the lead role. I think this will go down in cinema history as the best Cruise film ever. His true acting skill is so evident in this flick. Nicholson did an outstanding performance as well. Probably his best ever!
Tom Cruise may not be the most VERSATILE actor of his generation, but definitely has the most impressive RESUME of his generation. Thumbs up if you agree.
I'm not gonna lie - When I saw the first 5 minutes of this film, I thought I was gonna get myself involved in some load of boring bullcrap but boy did I wrong my fucking ass. Despite the film's simple theme, it's overall perfect cast; powerful and realistic acting; and it's intelligent and humorous conversations had to make me throw in 5 stars. Whether it was because this film was made in the 90's era or what, all I have to say is that the director is a genius.
@kesselster If you are looking for the song at the end of the trailer it is not on the soundtrack. It is a modified and extended version of "fire in a brooklyn theater' that is exceptionally difficult to find.
Also, this business of "Unit, Corp, God, Country", I feel is not how it would be. I am a Christian and would bet that there are Christians in the U.S. Marine Corp. Isn't it "God, Unit, Corp, Country"?
I don't get how Jessep is guilty of the most highness act yet the men accused of murder are sentenced to time already served and dishonorable discharge when it was the two guys accused who failed to understand Jessep's order. I believe the order was to give him a Code Red, not murder him. Shouldn't these 2 soldiers get convicted of manslaughter and Jessep get a fine for disobeying military policy? This made no sense to me.
@MrConservative608 that was the whole plot was that they were just trying to shave his head but because of his condition he died so because jessep called the code red he was mainly the one who killed him the others were just following orders
@MrConservative608 Your thoughts are interesting and you make a perfectly valid point regarding the trial in "A Few Good Men" . But you must pay attention to your spelling of "heinous". Perhaps you are not a natural English speaker - but I confess that your spelling made me smile. I agree with you regarding the behaviour of Jessop but it does inform us of the dangers of authority in the wrong hands! And someone who believes that they are above criticism.
Respond to this video...Why do all the contributors fail to notice the fine performance of Mr J T Walsh. He merited praise and all of your have overlooked him as an actor - now sadly no longer with us!
i love this movie trailer but i was disppointed when i bought the score until i found out Randy Edelman had wrote the final 45 seconds of the music on the trailer. its from come see the paradise-fire in a brooklyn theatre
tom cruise is a really great actor! i cant make this film out of my mind. but i didnt watch this movie from the beginning. and it makes me a bit confused. why kaffee(tom cruise) angry with demi moore(when he was drunk)? and then demi moore go away in the rain.
@marvolo21mz - I have seen this film several times as part of a study involving method actors like Mr Jack Nicolson and also regarding court room dramas as portrayed on the screen. What ever else Mr Tom Cruise is - he will never reach the heights of a great actor. His outbursts never give the impression of a mature man or actor only of a certain kind of out of control and foot stamping adolescent. Mr Nicolson gives us a wonderful example of mature playing of the highest order.
@mstq11 Clearly you know little, if anything, about acting or what a mature performance consists of. You are not critical enough or discerning. It is not a question of "unforgetable acting" which is a meaningless phrase. I would suggest, more succinctly, that Mr Tom Cruise is forgettable as an actor. As a human being the story is quite different!
@RishiiHunii The performance of Mr Tom Cruise pales into insignificance compared to that of Mr Jack Nicolson. Where are the real critics of this film as I am unable to find any?
@StanleyKu Well Sanley Ku - it seems to me that you must define "excellence". Just saying that a performance is "excellent" contains little critical comment.. Mr Jack Nicolson is undoubtedly a very fine actor and knows exactly how to phrase a line and when to pause effectively! Tom Cruise is the same in all his films and carries no real authority! If you desire to be critical then you must say more than just they are excellent in their roles - it tells me nothing about your critical faculties.
There is a scene in "A Few Good Men" this film that is entirely incongruous for my tastes. I refer to where Demi Moore and Tom Cruise have dinner together. The atmosphere has no reality and should have been cut entirely. The relationship that is built during this scene is phoney and therefore quite unbelievable. What was the point of such an excellent director as Ron Reiner including it?? Was there a need for a portion of the film to show some form of relationship between them?
@sweetlilchickie1985 Mr Cruise does not possess a broad enough nor mature character to be a good actor. What I did notice is that most of the actors are small in stature. I hasten to add this is an observation not a criticism. What did puzzle me is when the judge asks the defending counsel (Mr Tom Cruise's character) for his plea he answers "Yeah". I would have thought in any courtroom such familiar language was clearly out of place. There are many moments in the film of poor continuity!
i've watched this movie enough times to recognize that jack nicholson's "roll the dice and take your chances" monologue in this trailer is different from what's in the movie.
This is one of my favorite movies....after ORDINARY PEOPLE...ABSOLUTELY GREAT ACTING...I could take acting classes just to be remotely as good as Demi Moore or Tom Cruise in the fictional movie. Are we clear? ARE WE CLEAR?

@Lubis5 I personally blame the writers in Hollywood. Nowadays it's like you said all FX or remakes all over the place. No original thinking or creative storytelling. You can Lucas & Spielburg directing & producing, John Williams & the London Orch doing the music, Industral Light & Magic doing the SFX and the biggest stars in the movie---without a good story that movie will flop down like a dead duck.

it's fun to look back ... this is a terrible trailer for a great great movie... but then again, in the early nineties most trailers were bad and the movies were great..
Yeah...I think the earliest really good trailer I ever saw was for JFK, in 1991. And, considering Oliver Stone's style, the entire modern trailer format may have been lifted from the movie. LOL.

Does anybody know the name of the music, in the last minute or so of this trailer?

It's from the soundtrack to the film "Come See the Paradise" by Randy Edelman. The track is called "Fire in a Brooklyn Theater."

it's fun to look back ... this is a terrible trailer for a great great movie... but then again, in the early nineties most trailers were bad and the movies were great..

Yeah...I think the earliest really good trailer I ever saw was for JFK, in 1991. And, considering Oliver Stone's style, the entire modern trailer format may have been lifted from the movie. LOL.
