  • Jake E Lee ,was,is a an amazing guitarist what talent come back Jake e

  • RIP Buddy....what a kick ass song-

  • What connects Ray Gillen , Mike Starr and Layne Staley?

  • First heard Ray Gillen on Savatag'e Strange wings. Great singer. RIP.

  • I've been playing this album for weeks now. Suddenly just can't stop listening to it. This is THE SHIT. Tone, rhythm, melody. It's freaking perfect!!

  • I can't fucking stop coming back here.. this song kicks fuckin' ASS.

  • Sounds like david coverdale

  • como olvidar al gran Jake E Lee y a esta super banda !!

  • Fuck Yeah!!!!!

  • JAKE E LEE WAILS & CRANKS THE LED AND GIVES THE SAME LIVE CRUNCH POWER RAW SOUND AS HE DID WITH OZZY... THIS IS WHEN ROCK HAD A CONSCIOUS ! LOL

  • Badlands had too much talent to have disappeared as fast as they did. I suspect people weren't buying Jake not being with Ozzy.

  • its befor my generation and most people think its not that great but, idgaf i like this song :)

  • Gillen reminds me of an 80's version of Glen Hughs.

  • Damn I loved this band !!! I wish they lasted more than 2 albums!!!

  • @Danuch113ny They got 3 album...1st was Badlands feels so good to be so bad.. 2nd Voodoo Highway... the last one was Dusk...

  • @ismisa7270 Actually, Dusk is a demo that was released overseas. You can only get it as an import.

  • @Danuch113ny But did u guys manage to get it... it's was awesome..

  • @ismisa7270 I dont have a physical copy of it, but have heard all the songs right here on youtube.... I do love it!!

  • Lame.

  • We lost one of the greatest vocalists forever

  • Another song that totally kicks it from these guys man! I had so much early influence from this band! They were simply an amazing band, holy shut it's been a long time since my friends and I listened to this while doing fuckin keg stands and shots. Playin this style of musac was so much fun. If it wasn't for the old school stuff like this we wouldn't be where we are at with music today ! Everyone needs to remember that, long live rock n fuckin roll

  • oh, Jake, how I love you...RIP. Ray ;(

  • Fkn Class !!

  • Thinking about singer Ray Gillen today, May 12 on his heavenly birthday. 5/12/59 - 12/1/93

  • heard this song for the fist time in 1997 and this is the best everlasting rock and roll song!

  • fuckin awesome :-) that 1st album was amazing, the 2nd was almost as good

  • to bad Ray left us. The band was barely know. They could have been one of the top bands on the 80's.

  • Jake E. Lee is not only one of the best guitarists in history, but he also has one of the best rock guitarist's stances ever! Total bad ass! I was lucky enough to see him live with Ozzy. I really regret never seeing Badlands live!

  • stop deleteing my commets jackwagon by the way this band rocks!

  • me too, those were the days

  • dam i miss the big hair 80's

  • I remember being psyched when I heard Jake had a band and coming out with an album. Their first album was awesome, very Bad Company-ish classic rock. This and the opening tune "High Wire" was the sheeeeeyett...

  • There first album is amazing. Every song is great. Gillen had such a great voice.

  • jake's got the best damn sound ive ever heard... raw... real... marshall, mids.. awesome!!! is all i can say... love the sound to this day... cold chills every time!

  • Love this band. And never seen this video b4. Mint !

  • This Band was SO good it was criminal that they didn't get noticed! Jake was by FAR the best Guitarist since Randy died with Ozzy, and Badlands' songwriting is better than ANY hard rock band in the 80's, except maybe Zebra or Y&T. And that's not a put down, because all 3 of those bands knew how to write! Jake is a monster guitarist and deserves far more credit than he gets. I am lucky enough to have both Badlands cd's and will never part with them since they are long since out of print. Peace!

  • @borntorun1970 Don't forget Guns N' Roses , mate :)

    Peace

  • かっこ良いですな

  • RIP Ray Gillen

  • @MegaMUFDVR

Ray and Geoff Tate had the best voices in hair metal.

  • SO cool....

  • amazing band. Too bad that didn´t last too long.

  • HE SOUNDS NOTHING LIKE RONNIE JAMES DIO NO ONE DOES. GEE THE DRUMMER LOOKS FAMILIAR

  • @towtruck1986 it´s the best of the best drummers: ERIC SINGER.

  • @towtruck1986 it´s the greatest Eric Singer.

  • Badlands was such a fantastic band! .R.I.P. Ray Gillan!

  • This was too bluesy to get off the ground in the 80s but yes, Ray Gillen was an awesome singer

  • This guy had some serios pipes. Along with Jake E Lee and Eric Singer it was an undeniable force. They should have been bigger than all the hair bands. Truly great bluesy hard rock.

  • Jake, I love you. Please form another band, we all miss you!

  • Ray was great. Jake too (one of best guitar players ever). What more, i love Badlands.

  • the best part of this video is that asshole running down the stairs @ 2:22. xD Great song nonetheless.........

  • My favorite "hair band" hands down......an incredible quartet of energy! A debut album that I CAN NEVER get bored with....Still rock this as if it came out yesterday!....R.I.P. Ray Gillen

  • º¤ø„¸¸„ø¤º°¨¸„ø¤º°¨

  • If anyone's lookin for old boots of Badlands message me :)

  • This band kicked ass.

  • what a great band. mix of David Coverdale and Robert Plant. sounds like that is the influence here. loved them then and love them now!!

  • @puckdropper27

I PERSONALLY THINK THAT RAY HAD A WAY BETTER VOICE THAT PLANT AND COVERDALE BOTH ..

  • @bennyratt really.

  • Great vocals!

  • Badlands is great! If you like this check Red Rocket here on you tube..."I´ve got a date", "Concrete boots" or "All by myself"...

  • 祝!リマスター再発!

  • な、なつかしすぎて涙でるわ。なぜ売れなんだ。

  • ray is ray

    and david is david!

    nothin' more to say!

  • If I closed my eyes, I'd think that was David Coverdale singing.

  • I wanna write the next Badlands cd Darkness a.k.a. Badlands 4 and sing it!

  • Underated in any way .

  • Jake is great. Nice o thave seen him in both BL and Ozzys band.

Come youth, pick it up....put some soul into it.

Most of todays band are "FARTS IN THE WIND".......yup, you can qoute me.

  • last best thing jake did was w/ BADLANDS!

  • only the good die young... RIP Ray.

  • then why arent i dead?

  • @kengerin1974

    He wasn't so good....

  • JAKE E LEE!!!!

  • Outstanding, RIP Ray

  • This was GOOD rock, before that short lived grunge shit came out.

  • heard this band on XM radio Hairnation

we need more music like this RoCkIn from MiAmI

  • another great lost band..thank god you can still find this stuff on you tube. i wish there were bands like this around so damn much.

  • RIP Ray Gillan. Wicked band.

  • 0:05 Love the drumming

  • Awesome song, love the voice and Jake e.lee is awesome!

  • bad ass band ... don't make them like this anymore!!!

  • Hey IRON51...i´m turning the fuckin´ volume up of the loudspeakers to the MAX (100)!...many thanx for sharing this fuckin´ great song!

    Greetings from santiago, CHILE!

    Seb

  • I completely agree with the lovers.

Jake, "ARTISAN", He single handedly brought the artificial harmonic to the forfront of Rock

Guitar. plus he had cool hair, when coool hair was cool.

Too bad about Ray, but this band changed my life. I Wish Jake would come back with a project to put music back on course. Beethoven,Mozart,E.Lee

  • One of the most under-rated bands...a shame.

  • Yea, I found their third album "DUSK" that was never released and it rocked. It was a little more straight forward rock with not too much technical changes and Ray Gillen didn't seem to belt it out as he would normally have done but under the circumstances still sang his ass off. Found it on Jake E. Lee's website. Also bought some rare live concerts on DVD!

  • Awesome Song!!!

  • Ray/Jake .. they were Plant/Page of the 90's if you ask me

Too bad this band was so underrated

  • ya, its cuz they weren't mainstream. They didnt get the attention like bands like metallica or guns n roses. I like bands like Badlands because they have hidden skill. Its a shame though cuz they didnt have as many fans as other bands.

Another non mainstream rockin band is Dangerous Toys.

Check out Dangerous Toys - Scared. You might like it.

  • Great talent these boys. What a voice. guys like Gillen, coverdale and tony martin, who sang on black sabbath's eternol idol album, are in a league of their own. Raspy blues feel with awesome range. Gillen was supposed to sing on eternol idol but martin stepped in last minute for some reason. wonder what that would of sounded like? Great album never the less!

  • や~~~ん^^♪

  • Ray had a brief spell with Black Sabbath back in the day

  • Good shizzle! Works 4 me. Adding it to the list right now. Sorry to hear they're still not on the circuit.

  • JAKE E. LEE BITCHES!!!!!!

  • what a band. this singer was from another planet. damn they were just simply awsome

  • lol i just found this band - am not suprised i love it so - i love bls - but the singer he looks so familiar...dont tell me he is from helloween... where else is he from?

  • no he is not from Helloween, his name is Ray Gillen, he passed away in 1994 with aids. Real sad shit as this was a badass band!

  • Love this band. Loved them then and still love them now. Real talent.

  • Jake E has been written 90procent of Badlands songs on this record and If not their ''co-managers got his greasy little hands on..'' could this song -D.i.t-d. , High Wire, Winter's Call and Devil'sStomp be all big hits !

  • rest in peace ray gillen

  • .

this should have been a BIG HIT and even today it could be !!

    .

  • MY SWEET KATARINA :)

  • hehe... :) :) :) I love you!

  • The best hard rock song EVER!

(...after any Whitesnake song, of course! Lol!).

I love the Badlands first album!

  • 最高!

  • The drummer Eric Singer is the fucking man, Ray we love you and miss R.I.P.

  • Yeah, Eric Singer is a fantastic drummer, world class. Saw him with Alice Cooper last year, damn what a solo .. Nice to the fans as well ... Thumbs up Eric S.

  • I never checked these guys out . im not sure why but i like them

  • Amazing band x

  • Wow..the sound and picture quality is amazing. Thanks for posting. Beautiful man with the beautiful voice is sorely missed. Love love love this song.

  • I found this cd couple weeks ago at my local used record store for 6.00

  • lucky you, man!! All of the Badlands' recordings are highly collectible!

  • This band kicked all kinds of ass...Voodoo Highway was a great record, too.

  • classic song from classic album

  • Jake E. Lee is awesome. His guitar riffs are great, and so are his solos. I think he's better than randy rhodes.

  • Same Dude

  • Damn I wish I could find this CD and "Voodoo Highway" (their 2nd album) somewhere without having to pay an arm and a leg...this band kicked all ass!!

  • jake e lee is good did ozzy get zak wylde after????

  • ozzy made a big mistake to let jake lee go away!!!

  • people disliked him for taking randy's place so he was either fired or quit because of it, im not sure but thats what i heard.

  • Personally, I think Jake E. Lee was better than Rhoads. Randy was way to classical, while Jake E. Lee was more blues, rock, and pop with a touch of RnB mixed in for good messure that's why "Shot in the Dark" was such a hit because it had all of those elements mixed in, which made it groove.

  • well ozzy just went up and fired him who knows why then hired zakk which was totally stupid

  • zakk wilde is a great guitar player

  • he might be but hes nothing compared to jake e lee or rhoads

  • these guys rocked in concert

  • Classic!

  • ha ha I read that magazine too.

  • Jake has such a great tone. He & Satch have the best lead sound.

  • Satch is over rated he has no rhythm.

  • The truth shall remain...

    I'm a southern man...

This song makes me feel better...

I love this song and video...

  • what a great band!! saw them live in Colorado Springs at the Air Force Academy...they were one of the best bands of the 1980's....Ray was a amazing singer!!

  • The singer's voice almost reminds me of Ronnie James Dio's, this song kicks ass and Badlands should've gotten greater recognition.

  • Love Ray R.I.P and Jake is a God . Badlands rocked plain and simple.

  • total jake classic ozzy riffage @2;oo love that hook. I would expect nothing less. Sounds as if it coul've been on Bark at the moon. Jakes signature sound.

  • To BADLANDS,jake, ray, jeff and eric and the other bassists(forgot his name) Thanks for the memories, thank you for those years( 1988-1989).SHORELINE MT VIEW CA 1989. i remember the white smoke on stage while jake played the intro to WINTER'S CALL and RAY jst standing there in the dark... FUCK MAN

  • I've always been a fan of Jake. I saw him at a seminar in LA. and he is off the charts. I expected the same old riffs, the dude is complete and on a whole different playing field. In my opinion, after RR Jake was the best guitarist for Ozzy, in fact, I saw him in Long Beach in 1983, Ratt opened, but Jake stole the show. He sheads and maintains an awesome stage presence.

I read an article in Guitar Player magazine, yes I'm that old: Jake said, "it's the sound between the notes that count."

  • damn eric singer is an awsome drummer.....awsome song!

  • Awesome grooove. I wonder about the guitar solo. It is awesome, but it seems like it may have been written for a different song. It fits, but it is a complete departure from the entire groove theme they have going on.

  • Had Eric play on one of my songs. I played with Dan S of BLack Sabbath" Dream Evil and a couple other 1980s Post ozzy sabbath albums" I wasnt star struck. as a matter of fact the dipshi* took one of our tunes and sent it to Iommi saying it was his. pisswa**. ANyway its called PSYCHOMAN. Our version OR rather the ORIGINAL IS WAY BETTER and it grooves. POOR POOR IOMMI KNOWS NOTHING BOUT IT> He thinks The BEASTwrote it "Spitz" He looks like a beast these days tipping out at 300 pounds that ass wh**

  • jake kicks ass check out freedom and whiskey here on u tube cheers

  • perfection all around!

  • Ray Gillen rocks!! RIP!!!

  • This guy died from AIDS...groupies usually go from one band dude to another. So, how many others that sre still alive today are most likely HIV positive? Since a girl that slept with RG probably slept with many more after him. And that would be even before he knew he had it.

  • Thought I read somewhere that Jake, or some other of his bandmates were really pissed at Ray for running around nailing chicks even after he knew he had AIDS. hope thats just a rumor, cuz thats sad.

  • Ray Gillen still leaves me wondering why he is not as legendary as Hendrix. His passing truly took something special and unique. And from what I've read and heard, he was a really great person. Best vocals in rock music, and hardly anyone even remembers him.

  • not as legendary as Hendrix is going WAY too far Ray had a great voice I agree but he doesn't have any music left behind that could leave him thought as "legendary"

  • before I get lynched I would like to say I love Badlands they were great but I was attracted to the great guitar work of Jake E Lee and the great vocals were just a bonus TO ME

    RIP Ray Gillen

  • Yes, you are right, Gillen's legacy is not on par with Hendrix's, and it shouldn't be. I mis-spoke there. However, I do think he should be in a hall of fame or something, but instead, he's "forgotten" by all but a few. This song (Winter's Call), Devil's Stomp, High Wire, Dreams In The Dark, etc. Everything from that album is sooooo brilliant. Jake is also a great player, and great songwriter. I wonder what he's up to these days?

  • I've wondered that myself.Jake seems to have went into hiding. He's the least talked about of ex Ozzy guitarists. He deserves better.

  • I like Jeff's even earlier band, Surgical Steel, from Phoenix, AZ.

  • R.I.P. Ray Gillen

  • Ahhh this brings back a few memories!

  • I think Jeff Martin from Surgical Steel played drums for these guys....correct me if I'm wrong.

  • You are correct, sir. He joined after Eric Singer left to join Kiss. I like Jeff's "other" band with Paul Gilbert, Racer X, where he's the vocalist.

  • once upon a time there was this band with more talent and finese mix with guts , a blues based hard rock with a pin of metal in your face that sadly got pushed aside by a freaking nerd depressed threechord movement coming from seattle.

  • HA HA.YOU'RE SO RIGHT BRO.i discovered badlands in late 88 with that first album.i knew they were something.ray and jake are jimmy and robert.

  • ROTFLMFAO, I can;t imagine WHO you are reffering to there. ;-)

  • saw them forget when pier 34 dr. pepper

  • love these guys. eric singer is amazing. sucks that ray died =/

  • badland's vocalist's voice looks a lot with David Coverdale's. awesome song.

  • uh....what?

  • what a fuckin jam!!

  • Jake E.Lee is an awesome/extremelly talented guitarist!

  • This is very late 80s to 90s. I saw them play this live in Orange County somewhere between 1990 and 91 prior to the lead leaving. You really can't lump them into the 80s bands category. The Badlands album was recorded in 1989 and Voodoo Highway 1991. Voodoo Highway was already out when I saw them play.

  • Thak you so much for posting. Great band, Great talent. Ray has a crazy good voice. He actually sings not screams. Too bad he's gone.

  • Where did he go?

  • Ray died in '93 to symptoms of AIDS.

  • I never knew that. They were a great band.

  • Saw in 90' in Cleveland with Great White

  • THE BEST

  • Badlands is without a doubt the best band ever.i wish i was in the 80s so bad.Its just not fair.wasnt born till after the death of music.AKA:nirvana

  • YOUR SO RIGHT

  • fuck. grunge.

  • i wanna grow my hair again and wear tight jeans.then go to seven eleven and buy some marlboro.i miss the 80s.HEAVY METAL RULES FOREVERMORE........

  • I saw these guys way back in the day. Awesome show. The funny thing is that they were the opening act and I don't even remember who the headliner was...didn't really care. I was there to see badlands

  • I know what you mean. They were awesome.

I remember driving 200 miles just to see The Rollins Band support the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Went to the bar when RHCP came on.

  • Great song, great band, great talent! Badlands is very underrated and almost nobody nowadays even knows who they are/were. Ray Gillen was no doubt one of the best. Thanks for posting this to keep his music & memory alive.

  • It's weird on all the video sites that nobody seems to ever recorded the vid for Highwire.
