  • Was Faye Dunaway seated beside Al Pacino sporting a Serpico look? If I sat anywhere near those 2, I'd shit my pants and faint. Two legends there for ya.

  • anyone notice al pacino in the dark sunglasses sitting next to faye? they were quite a thing in the 70s.

  • this women look so normal...

  • they keep clapping at the wrong time!!!!!

  • @azula123321 HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA

  • @azula123321 Because at the telecast they showed a clip from the movies they were nominated for, but the clips were edited out of this video!

  • Faye was good but Sissy and Liv were better!

  • kelly shire's (?) reaction was priceless- pure hatred

  • Spacek was fantastic in Carrie but I doubt the "academy" would nominate such a performance from a that movie genre today.

  • Faye's most excited supporter that night was obviously Talia Shire........NOT

  • I always thought Liv Ullmann should have won this. I remember being shocked when she wasn't annouced as the winner.

  • FAYE DUNAWAY IS A STAR!!!!!! SHE'S PERFECT AND AMAZING IN EVERY SINGLE MOVIE SHE PLAYED...AND SHE'S SOOOOOOOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL!!!!

  • Nurse Ratched?

  • Faye Dunaway was so beautiful before she messed up her face.

  • She's got a very agreeable accent. Despite being American. How striking!

  • I remember hearing the Sissy Spacek's nomination for Carrie was a first if not ONLY nom EVER for a actor/actress in a horror film, not sure if Kathy Bates win for Misery counts as a horror movie?

  • Sissy Spacek should have one...her portrayal in Carrie was nothing short of PHENOMENAL!

  • my god she's beautiful

  • Marie Christine fell asleep and woke up by hearing her name

  • Faye deserved this for 'Network". She and that movie were awesome.

  • Faye was one of the very best of actresses. She portrayed Joan Crawford superbly as well in Mommie Dearest, but it did hurt her career. It really shouldn't have but it did.

  • LOL I love this. They all look mad/bored/over it... especially Talia Shire.

  • Lmao @ Talia Shire!

  • Don't forget Day of the Condor.

  • And LMAO marie barrault was staring at the ceiling/asleep LOL

  • [:42] Talia Shire

At least she didn't fake smile and mouth the words "oh how nice"

  • These are the most awkward close-up reactions in the history of the Oscars. Marie Christine Barrault was staring at the ceiling, Faye Dunaway looks away almost immediately, Halle Shire looks almost angry to be nominated, Liz Ullman looks almost troubled....and poor Sissy Spacek needs no explanation.

And then to top it off Dunaway says "I didn't expect this, not quite yet".....?

  • It's not being a poor sport, it's being honest. You cite Meryl Streep's reactions - THAT is acting. She's lying. How could someone with any sense of identity, the barest hint of ego (which someone must have simply to exist as anything but a saint or a monk), be completely happy about losing? I'll take Bill Murray every time - his obviously unhappy reaction to losing to Sean Penn was refreshing. Social niceties have their place, but not here. It's insulting to our intelligence to act happy.

  • She was also great in Mommie Dearest ,very underrated performance.

  • that rocky woman looks PISSED

  • @poseidon5100 haha if she really thought she was going to win -- I don't even know why she was nominated in the first place..

  • You can tell the real great actresses who r really great people also when they don't win the oscar. Sissy Spacek was the only nominated actress that smiled for Faye. Whenever Meryl Streep was nominated but didn't win, she always smiled and sometimes jumped up and clapped.

  • What an unenthusiastic group this is. Jeez..

  • Great beauty and great actress

  • I have never seen poorer sports in a reaction shot. Wow.

  • Her eyes are so piercing. She is the only one who could play Nurse Rachet.

  • every time I see "Network" I'm reminded of how little sense it makes for it not to have won Best Picture. Perfect from start to finish

  • @georgedrometer I couldn't have said it better. It is my fav film of all time. It was a masterpiece, and I also can't for the life of me figure the Academy votes sometimes.

  • @georgedrometer 1976 was a pretty vintage year for movies, but I agree NETWORK was 20 years ahead of its time. A good case for not giving the OSCARS for a few years after a film is released.

  • Sissy Spacek should have won.

  • I like how the actresses look great without all the styling they employ now.

  • she's so beautiful.

  • she was one of the most beautiful women and sha was so freaking natural, I admire her so much for so many diferent things, I think she is an angel.

  • I'd love to walk up to the stage to "The Howard Beale Show" tune, just like Faye Dunaway. Unforgettable performance, but having revisioned "Face To Face" I think Liv Ullmann deserved this one.

  • Ooooooooooh......Talia Shire gon' get you Faye!

  • @CathalBarry Ha ha! Yeh, she really was disappointed at that.

  • ADRIAN SHOULD HAVE WON!!!!!

  • My god! They all look flaming miserable!

  • I love how the first nominee is sleeping until her name is called.

  • I don't even recognize Faye Dunaway anymore, after ALL this plastic surgery she's had, omg.... It's another person!!

  • Sissi should have won .. She didn't play Carrie , she WAS Carrie.

  • Comment removed

  • louise fletcher stunning!!! and faye dunnaway hot!!! both awesone!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • oh wow, i would have thought Sissy would win for Carrie.

  • Talia looks pissed, when the nominations are being read, she looks like " i better fucking win" and when Faye wins shes like "Fuck this!!"

  • @asongforxx456 That's so funny, you're totrally right. Didn't the silly cow realize she had cameras on her, at least to fake that she was happy for Faye. Talia Shire wasn't even in the same league as Faye Dunnaway IMHHO. Love all of Faye's work.

  • @asongforxx456 Yeah, she does look like she has an attitude doesn't she? Keep it classy mami. But she couldn't hold a candle to Faye. I'd like to see her try that wire hanger scene.

  • @asongforxx456 tailia should have won! faye should have won yrs before for bonnie & clyde

  • Love her. Faye should have won for "Bonnie and Clyde" and "Chinatown". But this year, Sissy Spacek deserved the Oscar for the cult classic, "Carrie". And, how many Academy Awards have been given to actors for campy, horror films? This should have been the one.

  • Then Christian Bale jumped on stage and said, "What am I doing here? Me? I don't deserve this. Who am I?"

  • ullmann delivers one of those great performances in cinema, barrault so beautifully nuanced and totally subtle, spacek devastating in a legendary role. i like dunaway but she shouldn't have won.

  • Faye could have at least combed her hair that morning !

  • hm...

  • Hm...

  • Talia just looks disappointed and she don't hide it, that's all!!! And i give her credit for such an honest reaction! I mean, when you get nominated for an Oscar, of course you will win and of course you are disappointed when you here someone else's name, and Talia is not afraid to show that! All the others, they just pretend, that they are sooo happy when someone else win, but Talia is honest enough not to "act" this way!

Except for Meryl Streep, she seems to be really happy for other people!

  • And i don't think, anyone of them looks "pissed"...they all looks nervous, because of course they are! Who would not!!!!

  • Talia is disappointed and she don't hide this! I'll give her credit for that, because it's a very honest reaction of her's!!!

I mean, i'm sure everyone who is nominated for an Academy Award, want's to win, and is of corse disappointed when they hear someone elses name! And all of them just pretend, that they are very happy for the winner, but i bet they not!!

(Except for Meryl Streep, she seems really happy for others!)

So i like the fact, that Talia is dissapointed and not afraid to show this!!

  • 0:47 WAS ThAT A FART?!

  • 0:47 was that a fart?

  • @jkolness1994

    Nope. :| A Trumpet.

  • Sounds like she farts @ 0.47

  • Damn. look at Talia's reaction. lol.

  • Why do they all look so pissed? Looks like somebody told them the losers have to eat a raw turkey after the show or something.

  • @piscean95 In all fairness, only Talia Shire looks pissed. Everyone else is gracious.

  • What a cool speech. Great actress, great beauty.

  • Wow! what a tough category. She was competing with Sissy Spacek for "Carrie" and Talia Shire (Adrian from "Rocky").

Also, Oscar speeches weren't that long back then.

  • what is the name of the annoucette?

  • @Iamafreebillyboy Louise Fletcher who won the year before for "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest"

  • Poor Liv Ullman! She won several golden globe awards, several other awards National Board of review, etc... but could never win the oscar.

  • Yeah ! C'est trop bien que ce soit elle, même si Sissy Spacek le méritait trop aussi !

  • sissy spacek is such a strange looking woman.

  • All the nominated actresses, except foor Sissy, look like they all have something better to do, they all look so dissatisfied and unhappy

  • She's sitting next to Peter Wolfe of J.Geils Band.

  • "i didn't expect this to happen quite yet.. "

when you were expecting it to happen faye?

  • Liv Ullmann should've won for UNG FLUKT

  • Awww Sissy Spacek should've won. She nailed that role of Carrie!

  • What the hell was the first nominee doing before the camera turned to her?

  • Check out Jodie Foster and Scott Jacoby at 55

  • Sissy shouldve Won for Carrie!!!! Faye Dunaway old News!

  • Ironically, when asked during the 1970's who she hought the quality actors of the new Hollywood generation were, Joan Crawford largely dismissed all of them, but singled out Faye Dunaway as one of the few "REAL actresses" out there. Little did Joan know, lol.

    And Louise Fletcher looks breathtaking!

  • Talia Shire looks like a mean spirited, competitive bitch.

  • Talia Shire looks to happy for her

  • faye doesnt look like a anglo saxon.... more eastern europe. Shes got sexy eyes and bone structure youd find in any eastern european country.

  • look at talia shire's face! lol

  • strong year

  • I'm sorry but Sissy looks like a bit odd

  • Nice, short speech. Love it.

  • Anyone who had seen Liv Ullman's performance that year would know that was the best female performance, too bad the Academy are a bunch of morons uninterested in sitting through foreign films.

  • She is the Bette Davis of our time! She will always be around doing something, but hopefully not "SuperGirl II"! Sadly, she wont be remembered for this Oscar win, but rather for "no more wire hangers"!

  • Happy 70th Birthday, Ms. Dunaway!

  • She looks like kate Moss' mother

  • Faye was an AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL actress. She's simply a bitch in real life.

  • 1:16 nice heavy-breathing there lassie! .-)

  • who is the presenter??? Is that anne bancroft she look young if it is

  • @pekoe The previous year's Best Actress winner, Louise Fletcher

  • Talia Shire doesn't hold back.

  • Faye is AMAZING!!!!!!! She totally deserved the oscar for this performance, but to say she should have got it for Bonnie & Clyde is a *tough call*

The 1967 Oscars 'Best actress category' was the best in HISTORY!

= Audrey hepburn- wait until dark

    =Anne bancroft- The graduates

=Katherine Hepburn- Guess who's coming to dinner

    =Dame Edith evan- The whisperers

    Faye Dunaway- Bonnie and Clyde

    SO HARD!!!!!!!

  • Faye Dunaway and Sissy Spacek? What a star-studded showdown! Though Sissy Spacek wasn't quite the big star yet. Most movies are crap these days but when I see dedicated actors like Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, Leonardo DiCaprio, Colin Farrell, Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, maybe there is hope for the industry after all.

  • They actually used to nominate performances in horror films, wish they'd recognize them more often.

  • It would be so hard for me to pick between Dunaway and Liv Ullman that year. Two of the best performances ever given.

  • Faye deserved the oscar for Bonnie and Clyde too

  • @1994cordobes Don't forget 'Chinatown'.

  • Sissy Spacek and Faye Dunaway are two very underrated but respected actresses.

  • they all had such interesting faces back then, now they all look like masks surgury non withstanding.. I remember one year Ann Bancroft and Julie Christie had the same face lift by the same doctor no doubt.

  • Sissy Spacek always the sweetheart. She was the only one who looked gracious at losing while the others looked like bitches who took themselves too seriously. That's why I love Sissy!

  • Faye Dunaway was soooooooo fucking hot back then (mid-1970's). I only wish her tits had been at least one cup size larger. But, having said that....I still would have done her in a heartbeat back then! Absolutely! She was super sexy to be sure!

  • @unconventionalmeans Faye and Raquel in those camp Musketeers movies. HOT!

  • @unconventionalmeans such an assholey thing to say 'ooh shes gorgeous but her tits need to be bigger'

    fck off

  • Wernt people back then a bit more up tight...chill out, lighten up....u just won an oscar

  • sissy should have won god damnit!

  • Talia Shire didn't look to happy when Louise Fletcher announced Faye's name!

  • @rickram1961 Re: Talia Shire - She was SO nervous clearly and when they said Dunnaway to me she just looked relieved.

  • Never been a more natural beauty

  • I love Liv!

  • I like Louise Fletcher's dress, here. Which surprises me.

  • sissy spacek should've won.

and this is coming from someone whose favorite actress is liv ullmann.

  • @ooks Wrong. They got it right. Sissy should have won for what Sissy won for.

  • @hardrich2 oh okay, thanks for clearing that one up for me.

  • Dunaway deserved the oscar, she was great in the role and outdid her character. Spacek played a high school nerd in a movie that should nevr have been nominated.

  • @450984 "high school nerd". Way to simplify a complex character who has telekinetic powers, a nutjob mother and burns down her entire prom. Sissy Spacek's performance was not the usual performance that got nominated only because it was for a horror film, but her acting was so brilliant and believable I'm glad she got a nomination. Spacek gives one of the most convincing, sympathetic, and haunting peformances ever. Dunaway was just shrill. Liv Ullmann and Spacek were both better than her.

  • @Tigerlily21 Well said. I like FD okay, but really, she is almost always shrill. Sissy Spacek's performance in "Carrie" is the most sensitive, imaginative, unspoiled performance I've ever seen.

  • Lol Little Jodie Foster right there.

  • Faye Dunaway is one of Hollywood's true divas :)

  • I just watched Network last night for the first time. Maybe it's dated now, but I found Dunaway to be ridiculous and hammy. "We're going to be NUMBAH ONE! I'm tough as nails! Our ratings are going to go through the ROOF!"

Sissy Spacek definitely deserved to win.

  • @MilwaukeeIrishJoe agreed. I actually thought she was the weakest of the cast. She was just shrill and phony in her acting. Liv Ullmann and Sissy Spacek-now those were real performances. Dunaway was better in Chinatown.

  • It was gracious of her to thank William Holden... especially considering how they always bickered on set. This is when Dunaway was virtually on top of he world, anything she wanted was served to her on a gold platter. It's too bad that she chose an array of lesser quality projects... Mommie Dearest, Supergirl, Barfly, The Temp.

Such a talented woman - such inferior projects chosen.

  • Liv Ullmann in Face to Face. The best performance ever! She is so good it's scary! The movie is SO HARD TO FIND but if you do find it on ebay or something. GET IT! You willbe floored! She is a master in acting! Absolutely the best ever!

  • Faye Dunaway was great in Network. She deserved it!

  • god shes beautiful. but y doesnt anyone look like they are happy?? they all look bored out of their minds lol

  • @kayllo15 After seing several Oscar clips from these years, I'm starting to suspect that was the style.

  • can we talk about how great faye dunaway was in network? k thanks

  • it must have been the fashion in the 70' to look stern and somewhat annoyed when being presented....

  • Wow, they really applauded Liv! Cool!

  • Comment removed

  • Sissy was robbed that year. 'Carrie' was a tour-de-force

  • Sissy Spacek have to won this oscar she did a great job in carrie she skerd me a lot.

  • Liv Ullman has more class than the whole lot!

  • @SUPERDOOPERTUBER i think liv ullmann is one of the best actresses of all time but it's not like sissy spacek and faye dunaway are just devoid of class either. those two are also cinematic icons, like liv.

  • fletcher looks possessed reading the nominees names.

i hate that ullman had a total sour face on her both reading the names and when dunaway was announced as the winner. shes a talented woman, but shes not nearly a star enough to pull that kind of diva attitude off.

  • @CocaineHabbit I just watched the video and Liv actually SMILED after Faye's name was announced. If you don't like liv, for whatever reason, that's OK, but please don't make things up just to post hateful things about her.

  • Is it one of the few times in Academy Award winning history where the Best Actress was picked perfectly two years in a row (Faye Dunnaway for Network and Louise Fletcher in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest)?

  • I loved her in Bonnie & Clyde, Mommie Dearest and Three Days of the Condor

  • Wow, everyone but Sissy didn't so much as crack a smile when being introduced. That last chick in particular looked pretty rough.

Faye is beautiful, though. I wish actresses now-a-days had that charm and charisma.

  • That was Louise Fletcher's last 15 minutes of fame.

  • Comment removed

  • she is mommie dearest loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool i thought she was its mommie dearest faye dunaway

  • girl who played Carrie was the only one genuinely happy for her the other three girls were bitches

  • Damn Faye, fix ur hair!

  • I'd love to have inseminated sissy spacek, i'd have stuck a creampie inside her.

  • omg....Sissy Spacek looks sooo young!!

  • is a fact than Doroty Faye Dunaway is great Actress,

    and FUCK YOU hilary duff

  • @saprissa30 yeah good comment shes mommie dearest loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool

  • @saprissa30 My father knew Dorothy Faye's mother. Dorothy Faye is a terrific and wonderful actress. I know she hated Mommie Dearest but she was good in that but there was other films which really were good. Eyes of Laura Mars for example and Bonnie and Clyde.

  • I love hot chicks and vintage bush.

"Ever want to fall asleep in a mound of curls?" - Al Pacino, 1992

  • HOTTIE !!!! SMOKING HOTTIE !!!!!

  • Liv should have won, but Faye and Sissy were amazing too! It should have been a three way tie. My ranking:

    1. Ullman

    2. Spacek

    3. Dunaway

    4. Barrault

    5. Shire

  • OMFG at Talia Shires face. Imagine the endless frenzy in the media if that would happen today LOL! Faye, while coming across icey and aloof, was super HOT. wow.

  • Wow great actresses in great movies. I think somebody flipped the coin on this decision.

  • adrian looked a bit upset there. She had a better shot in the supporting category.

  • @QuietGiantProduction , I agree Talia Shire should have been in the Supporting category if she did she might have won.

  • @JamesE1974 Talia Shire's role was large enough to be considered as Best Actress.

  • Liv Ullmann!

  • it's so funny that they all look at the audience like "c'mon and clap for me!". oh and sissy's the only one who's smiling.

  • Talia Shire looked so incredibly nervous, Sissy Spacek so beautiful!

  • i love network SOOOOOO MUCHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

faye dunaway is literally my sexy goddess-hero

  • Faye has no ass what so ever. She actually has less than ass, negative ass if you will. BTW, Talia Shire looks like she wants to kill somebody!!

  • the musical background was terrible.

  • @dobazajr The walk-up music was fantastic. Loved it. The 70s was great for movie scores and themes.
