I'm going to say I think its over as a champion for him(not as a player of course). In fact its great to see him do all that charity work in Indonesia. I wish him a great game for the olympics and I feel rightly honoured to have seen the 4 greats at work over the past decade.
calm down guys people have their bad games. this was just one of them. dont see taufik have that many really bad ones. so considering his career so far hes been doing pretty good.
@1234robinw i don't think so...i mean i admit he's pretty good for his age, but his arrogance will become a liability to his future success. among Danish players, i would say Jan Jorgensen is closer to becoming No.1
taufik hnya tinggal kenangan,,,, perut buncit krna malas latihan,,,,, tp masih tetap d pnggil jg sama PBSI....dya nya udah mo pensiun,,, tp msih tetep d pnggil jg,,, mank blum ada regenerasi stlah taufik,,,
i hate axelson...i mean, he's good but he's so cocky
He should at least know that taufik doesn't train anymore so winning in 3 games vs someone that doesn't train anymore is not something to be proud of and especially all the fist pumping are not necessary in this case
just my thought...hidayat in 2004 would crush this kid under 5
@EternalLead "fist pumping not necesseray", well just think about that : you're 17-18years old and you're playing a former world and olympic champion. Don't you cheer if you win points ? and the whole "hidayat in 2004 would crush this kid under 5" I'm sorry but this is non sense. We're talking about right now : Taufik lost confidence this year , Axelsen took his chance here and beat him. That's it, just deal with it.
@loksanwong i did say it was just my thought...if I were axelson, i should know hidayat doesn't train and by that, means i would pay a little bit more respect towards him by not fist pumping so much. You are right, he lost confidence this year, and the kid took his chance and good for him. But the whole ''hidayat in 2004 would crush this kid under 5'' is fact and you know it, I know it, everybody knows it though its nonsense, but deal with my nonsense :P
@EternalLead The fact that he's pumping himself up(fist pump) doesn't mean that he doesn't respect Taufik^^ Some players are actually a bit "taunting" there opponent by looking at them when fist pumping or shouting and that's disrespect to me but I don't think Axelsen is doing that, he apologizes for his luck at the net and all. And of course in 2004 Taufik would have win without any problem but I just can't see what difference it makes here^^
I'm impressed by Axelsen. His footwork is so quick around the court that he gets to every shot with no problem for his overheads. That and he completely dominated the net, Taufik couldn't even compete with him there the entire game. He only needs more power on his smash, but that comes as he's maturing because he's only 17. He'll develop more muscle as he get's older.
Obviously not Taufik's best, but we don't really ever see it nowadays, it's been all downhill for him recently.
taufik just been weak mentally. lack of focus . maybe thinking its going to be easy game . He looks not so ready to play badminton. However he is actually better than axelsen.
If viktor was clever, he would know he is not better than taufik. Taufik looks almost disabled on court. He cant move his legs at all. I totally understand cos i have one injured knee. Let alone both!
i don´t know what that was from taufik maybe he only wanna play for olympic but loose against a 17 years old kid? i can´t understand viktor is not so good but for 17 he´s good
Just stop saying shit about Viktor. He totaly won from the OLYMPIC CHAMPION. Wouldnt you rais your first every point? And I would not care if he had an off day or not!
Taufik may be going downhill but i bet he still only plays because he loves to play and for him to win tournaments is just the icing on the cake for Taufik.
Felt that Taufik could have done better. But still Axelsen is actually a really good player regarding his young age. He still have a long time ahead of him. Hopefully he becomes better and better.
i think taufik should retire now, hes definitely past it, he should of ended his career a long time ago when he was on a high, this is a sad way to go for him.
@911chinkie indonesia badminton pays him to keep playing since there are no other well known indonesian single players that can market yonex products as well as him
@911chinkie Taufik is/was the most talented player out there, he could pick up anything he learned and use it in a real game 2 weeks after so they always had to teach him something new but right now taufik just doesn't care hes only going to these tournaments to qualify for 2012 London Olympics. Taufik himself is very well off and is really close to completing his new arena so instead of talking down about Taufik appreciate that you were alive when he was.
@AntonioBLi i do appreciate that, im not disrespecting taufik but come on, this really isnt a nice way to go, hes not been in form for two years i prefer to remember him in the old days where he used to beat lin dan.
@AntonioBLi i think you are giving taufik too much praise,i watched the 2004 olympic final there was nothing special, there were no amazing shots or amazing rallies, the BWF 2011 world championship final was soo much better with the two best players of this era Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei battling it out for the gold medal. I think personally people big up taufik to much, everyone says it his age otherwise hed hammer these people, hes the same age as Chong Wei but LCW is still no.1
I dont understand what's so special about Taufik apart from his executing some backhand smashes ? There were many players at their prime in the 2000-2006 and Taufik wasn't the dominant player at all while Lin Dan just emerged as a new player to watch. Just because he won one Olympic gold and one World title doesn't mean he should be treated as a legend. What else has he done apart from that ? I think Lee Chong Wei deserves that recognition though i like Lin Dan more
@911chinkie Just because the best days are behind him doesn't mean he shouldn't participate in tournaments anymore. No matter how good you are, one day there will be someone that surpass you, there is nothing sad about this.
@911chinkie Haven't seen much of him, tbh. One good match against Lin Dan a while back, and no Super Series success like Chen Long....CL is the one to look out for in the next OG, he has shown he is capable of beating the big names and is still young and can improve until then. Impressive that he beat LCW.
@911chinkie Chen Long is 22 and much better - I'm not saying that WZM will not be good, but I don't see why so many see him as the next Superstar. Honestly, he hasn't shown any sure sign he'll be better than CL....anyway, it's gonna be interesting to see who will fill the gaps of BCL, LD, CJ and Fu/Cai when they retire.
