  • shame i can't find kermode talking about little man on here - though i remember it as an ongoing saga for weeks when the movie was released...

  • "Don't fund evil" :D Love it.

  • Better than Knock off Nobby!

  • One of the best spoof adverts on youtube. Short, simple and funny. Video piracy adverts really dick me off with their funding terror and holier than though, appealing to the public conscience on the legal and ethical pitfalls of piracy. Ridiculous, good effort.

  • Why would anyone BUY pirate stuff anymore... don't they have internet?

  • my local bootleg DVD peddler just moved up in the food chain and bought a new car... If I recall it was a 1960's Skoda. The previous owner was a sheep.

  • that was rubbish

  • Ta very much. Kermode could not have put it better himself. We shall do better next time.

  • That just shows how much money there is in this trade. Those 1960's Skodas are collector's items. And Sheep are no mugs, they'll fleece you if they can.

  • 'THIS FILM IS POSSESSED BY THE DEVIL!'

  • There is a god and his name is Kermode. That is all.

  • hahaha

  • note that he has a POTC dvd in there which kermode also hates!

  • And a Da Vinci Code one. TURN THE LIGHT ON!

  • RedPlanetAccidental: Great ad, I can see it catching on, unfortunately people who love their film and are serious about the implications of piracy in this country are the few who know and already follow Mark Kermode's podcasts and reviews

A small but loyal following (as it stands), but Kermode loves film and knows film, and I love the man for it (in a non 300 fashion naturally)

  • mark kermode is the funniest film reviewer ever! He always gets it right, if he says the film is bad, dont see it, end of

  • I rather enjoyed 300 so I thought he was a bit off the 'Mark' with that one

His rant about the homo-erotic undertones in the film was surprising considering he usually knows the history surrounding the films he's slating (and by and large he is spot on with them), primarily the fact that homo-eroticism was a prevalent theme throughout Spartan society (and yes I do realise the film makers might not have been onto that theme intentionally)

  • It's reely grate....

    Hoist the Skull and Crossbones!

    Piracy for ever!

By REAL WORLD Punter V.D. and Scar

  • That ad spells the death of narritive advertising.

  • Hi Ade. Narrative advertising weave stories across media. This was a highly targetted ad made specifically for film fans who were aware of the Kermode Little Man review. It's linked to on Mark Kermode's BBC Five Live Biog page. Thus, for that very defined audience who were aware of Mark's scathing review of Little Man, it was the very definition of a perfect narrative advert. Can you elaborate on what you mean Ade, we're genuinely interested?

  • Ade was referencing the fact that Mark Kermode referred to Ice Age 2 as the death of narrative cinema (and encouraged viewers to leave the cinema loudly proclaiming such).

I guess that, although you consider yourself part of a very defined set of people, you are not a member of the even more specific subset of Kermode listeners that Ade is.

  • Fair play! I'd totally forgotten about Kermode's Ice Age 2 comment. Yep, I've been out-geeked and deservedly spanked...

  • I forgot to mention well done, if your company is not already officially involved in the anti-piracy campaign, then you certainly deserve to be.

  • Ah, I didn't realise the filmmaker was here, now I see why you took me up on my slightly predictible aside! It's a great ad along with the original, the acting in particular. Can't decide which one is best.

  • Much appreciated. To be honest, I like the Litle Man version better. Considering it doesn't have the core DVD piracy message at its core, I think it gets the message across to the intended audience without pissing them off. Thanks for the feedback which has been very useful for us. Stu ;-)

  • Yeah as the man said, just an in-joke for the Cult of Kermode, which I imagine has probably been done here earlier, apologies for being obscure - in fact it's a good ad.

  • Lucky he didn't ask for Norbit-truly the death of prosthetic fatsuit cinema

  • Haha this is great, someone should get it sent into Five Live.

  • Thanks. But someone must already have done that. There is a link from Mark Kermode's page.

  • "A fine piece of work" chrissikins

  • Mark Kermode thinks he's God -- but he's just another sad, over-educated film critic. Big woo.

Having said that, he IS also a God, and he's 120% right about Little Man. Its EVIL ... pure undiluted EVIL.

It is more evil than my socks after 28 days and that's saying something.

  • Thank God he just asked for Little Man, I hate to think what would of happened if he asked for Pirates of the Carribean!

  • Now, get this shown in cinemas and the point is made a lot more coherently than the current rubbish about bad quality.

  • Love the expression of discuss in his face, in true "kermodian" fashion. hehe

  • disgust

  • disgust? EXPLAIN!

  • Hi. Explanation follows, as requested. Let's start with a quote.

I think he meant 'disgust' - it's always good to see YouTube commentators at the top of their game. Regards, nrd

  • It's funny because it's true. Kermode Forever!

  • Ah I see, good work.

  • Love it! Has this link been sent to the good Doctor yet?

  • It's linked on his Radio Five Live page! We're honoured! We just made it for a laugh!

  • Love Kemode! Love the 'Ad'

  • ROTFL! Kermode is a genius!

  • Brilliant! Mark Kermode is great :P.

  • If only this ad was genuine. I genuinely think people would take DVD Piracy more seriously, if it was done with more humour.

  • Thanks for your positive comment. We made it with that very thought in mind. It's a spoof we made of our own ad "The Bar" which you can see in our other videos (it's a genuine ad by the way). We're big Kermode fans and we were just having a laugh when we were filming it, and we thought, "what the heck, lets just post it on YouTube!". If other people agree with you we'll be sure to pass the comments on to the client... So, what does everyone else in YouTube land think?
