I know they look incredibly cheesy and poppy, but they were one of the most talented bands of the 90's both of their albums were absolute genius, Have a very Beach Boys/Brian Wilson style sound with their own experimentation, Absolutely great band!
@joshingledew yeah, I always felt the same way too about their image ruining it for them. Very talented band, but a silly marketing strategy/image. Fair or unfairly, people listen with their eyeballs first. And your spot on, with the Wilson reference. The middle eight section of Ghost #1 might as well be "God Only Knows". lol Anyway, there's a company called Omnivore Records that is re-releasing both Jellyfish lp's on 180 gram vinyl today.
@goesjem actually....alot of beach boys, grateful dead, eagles & the birds influential sound, key note the rhythm and harmony..... All bands from California
@johannquatz Wow, hey thanks man, that was fast! Everywhere I've looked they only had Andy's lyrics for that section. I'm pretty sure you're spot on with them. Awesome. Now I can sing along to that section without having to make up nonsense. :)
@klesh1 Yeah, that was timing, I just happened upon your comment the other night by total chance. You're making me wonder where the heck I learned the lyric from, though?? lol My first guess is that they were on the original lyric sheet/liner notes that came with Spilt Milk. If so, however, how come they aren't translated verbatim to whatever you've seen previously online? Hmmmmm.....at any rate, that's for me to ponder...enjoy!
@klesh1 hey...i'm thinking that these lyrics were on the inset of the original Spilt Milk cassette/CD, but I could totally be wrong. Considering you say no one else has them, I can't think where else I would have figured these out!?!? Yes, though, sure they're proper...enjoy singin'!
@johannquatz a friend gave me the original Spilt Milk CD back in '94; for some reason I couldn't dig it back then, but always have loved Bellybutton. I now have it digitally, so no liner notes for me. Upon listening to a few versions of this tune, I have one suggested change to what I think that section's lyrics are...
for you an invitation to the holy rock and rollers' stage.
@klesh1 Hey....so, inspired, I looked. Indeed, on the CD inset from Charisma 1993 V2-86459 are the lyrics! LOL...my memory didn't fault me, I gots 'em right....o.k., technically they have the word "(and)" before "for you", and have it broken down into 6 lines, not 4....otherwise, they stand....great song! :)
That's amazing, they can't get arrested in the UK now. I wish I'd had a pound for everytime I'd been playing their stuff and people asked who it was, then still say who when I'd told them! Like you say, the existing fanbase has never wavered, just sad that they are not more widely know when they are such quality. BTW ordered Roger's Solid State Warrior on import.....can't wait!
A study of how to be a top-notch rock band. Great gear and sound, well thought-out songs, solid playing, and clever arrangements from trained and educated musicians. 99% of current bands are fumbling amateurs compared to these guys.
@bbishoffproducer Agree completely with your comments -- great arrangements, great playing, absolutely top knotch stuff from the boys. Only negative point is that we'll never see 'em playing again!
@sessyize I try not to dwell on Andy Sturmers aethstetic appeal because I don't want to undermine the music but sod it, he's bloody gorgeous! And I think I'm a bit in love with Roger's voice :)
@dkimuk Hmm I see. I'm with you all the way! Btw, if you don't have any of Roger's solo material i suggest strongly you order it.. all of it. You absolutely must hear Roger's "Till We Meet Again", it's on his Solid State Warrior disc(Japanese import).. ..in love indeed!!!!
@popnutty Thanks, will definitely hit the internet for more Roger work. I'm listening to these round the clock at the moment, timing is a b**ch, they should have been huge !!
@dkimuk They were, and still are!!LOL. I know what you mean. I remember across the street from my house at the time, there were these college students or young adults and the their license plate read: JLYFSH. I kid you not. They did and still have a very strong fanbase.
@dkimuk You're very welcome! The real point of getting this one is that you get 3 tracks not currently on his Land of Pure Imagination CD in which there are 3 other tracks. Catnip Dynamite is fantastic as well! "Survival Machine" is out of this world!!!!
Wow,- now i know why the look so good, play so well, sing so great, write great tunes and are so fantastic.......... because he plays a Ludwig Black Beauty snaredrum...... i think... Great video
"Chalk line dollar sign" interesting lyrics these guys throw at ya

It;s all about the Ludwig Black Beauty snare drum, too. :)

Does anyone know the lyrics Roger is singing during what amounts to the shout chorus of this song @ 2:22?
