FYI. Iran is not a nation built based on ethnicity. For example I am from Bakhtiari origin and I agree that Kurdish and Bakhtiari culture and language have a lot in common but it doesn't make me any less Iranian!

You can take Iran as an ancient union of different nations with similar cultures and languages. Iran's first unification was in 500BC where Persians and Medes (ancestors of Kurds) become united and left a brilliant legacy when they established Achaemenid dynasty.
