Use your low range and you wouldnt have any problem at all getting out of that cause you still have the other two wheels on the ground on the other side and 3. If all else has failed and you are about to go buy shovels, have ur friend put his shoulder in the side paneling and push to achieve a rocking motion to create more friction thus enabling more traction!
@woogster1983 Not to mention that you can use you parking brake and foot brake to make an open diff switch to the wheel that is on the ground. I have been hung up worse than this and used the foot brake and parking brake technique to get me out. You use the parking brake to try to get the rear to switch back and forth, and use very light pressure on the foot brake to try the same with the front. Too much pressure will lock the front wheels and start to put too much pressure on the rear.

I just bought another XJ. This one is a '96 and has 107k on it and looks and drives like new! It has a very minor valve cover leak that I am going to fix, but other than that it is perfect.

ive only worked on ones with the ive only worked on 2. mine (limited) and my buddies (larado). both had the 35, mine was posi his wasnt. i wish mine had the spicer 40 is the back though. those are pretty tough. they put them under some older suburbans.
@FeelTehBa55 Yes, but even without locking diffs, you can still use the parking brake and foot brake to mimic a limited slip while using an open diff. I can make my limited slips act like a locker using this technique.
