  • what do you use as a treat?

  • @vanessalongthorpe

Anything that they like that is healthy. I used mostly rabbit pellets and oat groats to train Zodee.

  • what kind of treats are you giving them?

  • This is amazing~!1 Can you do with with all rabbit or a certain type?

  • Where can you buy rabbit hurdles and clickers?

  • How many bunnies do you have?

  • how many rabbits do you have n how on earth do you clicker train????

  • @J3zZJ3Zz

I have 8 rabbits right now and 2 foster rabbits. I use a clicker to mark the exact moment that the rabbit does something desirable and follow up the click with something the rabbit wants such as a treat or getting pet or........

  • The bunny is SO cute! My bunnys had babies. I tried to teach my bunnys tricks along time ago but it never worked.

  • how do u do clicker training???

  • Hi! where can I find information about rabbit hopping events in the US? I have tried searching on the web but all the sites I find are hopelessly neglected.

  • I don't know that there is an official organization that sanctions events. I have always just trained for fun and for demonstration purposes.

  • What type of rabbit is this? Some sort of english spot mix?

  • That's so cool! I have 5 rabbits, and they're VERY mischievous! I wanna train them! I just don't know how... I'm gonna ask my parents to buy me a clicker. Any brand suggestions?

  • Any clicker should work. Some are louder than others and that might be nice if you train a lot outdoors.

  • this gives me lots of ideas, i love this video

  • he didnt do anything.

  • Animals are always doing something.

  • Then watch the video again LOL

  • what kind of treats do you give your bunnies that make them want to please you so much?

  • You guys are wonderful !

  • Awesome!

  • oh sweet!! i have two rabbits!! i have made a video about them too, you can watch it, if u want!!

  • whats ur video called?

  • wow rabbits are amazing!!!! I have a clicker for my rabbit (ella) I am not quite sure what breed she is... she's not that lazy, she's all gray with normal sized ears that stand up. She's a licker and LOVES food! I really want to train ella, but I don't have the book!! I'll get 1 though! Do you think you could make like a free tutorial for a trick like coming when called?!? And for people who are looking for good treats my rabbit likes the bottom of dandelion greens from the market!

  • I'm working on making a rabbit training video. I may post some of the video on you tube. I'm also thinking of having an online rabbit training class someday.

  • (Continued) How do you teach a rabbit to jump a hurdle? I realize not all rabbits are jumpers, but I'd love to try.

Where do you buy tour hurdles/obstacles? About how much?

How did you teach you rabbit to "get it"? Tha'd be really fun to watch.

Thanks! I really hope to train BunBun soon.

  • I get my clickers at clickertraining. com

They also sell a book about clicker training rabbits. Clickerbuuny. com has info as well.

You can use any food that your rabbit will eat readily from your hand for training. I try to stay away from sweet stuff and use it only for super efforts or learning new things. My rabbits like whole oats which are pretty healthy. I use mostly rabbit pellets for treats.

I make my own hurdles and props. You can use a broom stick stacked on books to start.

  • Thanks- those are all really good ideas. I'll be sure to try them. ^^

  • To teach Zodee the "get it" I started feeding him his meals in the roll a treat ball. I fed him in a box so he could find the pellets easily as they spilled out of the ball. Then I had him target the ball in my hand, then touch the ball when I dropped it and then run to touch the ball when I rolled it forwards. I can't put pellets in the ball when I toss it on the lawn because he will stop to search for each pellet, so I click when he reaches the empty ball and hand feed him.

  • Thanks! I'll be sure to try that. ^^

  • I jsut *LOVE* your rabbit videos. I'd love to train my rabbit. He's so stubborn, though...

    Just a few questions:

Where did you buy your clicker? How much?

What kinds of treats are you using? I was thinking of using lettuce or grass as a treat, but he might get bored of that. He *LOVES* raisins and craisins, but they are pretty fattening, and my mom doesn't like me having BunBun out of his cage more than needed, thus he couldn't run off the calories. =/

What trick did you start with? (continued)

  • I have a young netherland dwarf doe(named Shelby, after Carroll Shelby of Ford Mustang fame) Do you find that certain breeds are more trainable than others?

  • Cool name! I have netherland dwarf now in training and he can clear a 30" fence. All rabbits are trainable. Some enjoy zooming around and jumping over high obstacles more than others do. I like to train active rabbits because there are lots of things to click. The most challenging rabbits to train are the shy ones that won't eat food from your hand.

  • She is absolutely active and in no way shy. I had the roof of her cage open the other day and she jumped and bounced off the wall and out of the open roof( a good 18 vertical inches) and landed a foot away from the cage. Not to mention that when we have happy rabbit time, where she has free reign of the house, she tears around like Big Brown on preakness day.

  • It sounds like she would be perfect to train.

  • AWESOME! u have smart bunnies. first comment and rate! i have a black bunny named Harvey and I taught him how to "sit up"

  • I am taking an online agility class with my rabbit and this is some of the homework that we do for our class. We use a clicker to let the rabbit know when it has done something right and it has earned a treat.

What are you going to teach your rabbit to do next?

  • I want to teach my rabbit how to follow a target thing. But I think I should bond with my rabbit a little more. Even though I let him get out of his cage before cleaning, replacing food and stuff, sometimes he doesn't like it. Sometimes, he's resting with his legs out, and suddenly jumps up like a firecracker just blew up even though I haven't done anything! It's funny but weird. When I come into the room, he also runs and hides. Probably because I am standing up and look like a scary predator.

  • I think that teaching him to follow a target will help him to bond with you. What are his favorite treats? Will he eat them from your hand? Try training him to touch a target in his cage at first. You can use almost anything as a target; a chop stick, your hand, a spoon etc. Teach him to touch the target first before you teach him to follow it.

  • He likes little bits of carrots. I don't feed him too much of the commercial treats, because they are high in sugar. I might get a stick and put a ping pong ball on it.

    Thanks!
