@sakoshooter48 the prototypes flew within 2 years of each other, and besides having the engines mounted on top of the wings(coanda principle) how the fuck is it a "close engineering copy"? You're most probably an internet expert who thinks only americans can build aircraft, and everyone else has to copy them, huh? Arrogance and ignorance, great combo.
@tubatits Cool your jets compressor brain! We flew it first with a Russian COPY following about two to three years later. Go pound sand you asshat. I'm a great admirer of some of Russia's aviation achievements! Facts is facts, we couldn't sell it to the brass, you guys did. I've worked in the industry for almost 30 years and have had the opportunity to have my hands in the guts of the following Russian aircraft: Mig15UTI, Mig -21BIS, SU-23, Mig-29, IL-62, IL-72, Mig-17UTI, and a MIg-19!
@Darkonomist No, Russians. The plant was founded by a Russian - Oleg Antonov, the team is Russian, it was simply moved to the Ukraine in the Soviet times to make the air industry present in each Soviet Republic. But the jet itself is Russian. Moreover, the majority of Ukrainian citizens are Russians. Real Ukrainians are very rare and live almost only in rural areas and have no higher education.
@Heightofhate *sigh* Read the Wikipedia article on the origin of Russian people (wiki/Russians) ... in the end, does it make any difference what nationality is written on a person's document, or where our parents come from?
It is the here and now that matters =)
I could even say that Antonov is actually American since "Americans invented the aircraft" >_>
@Darkonomist Well, if you want your logic to be used, then the aircraft was by an Ancient Greek - Archytas. He built the first artificial, self-propelled flying device, a bird-shaped model propelled by a jet of what was probably steam, said to have actually flown some 200 meters.
I know everything about the origin of Russians. That's why I said Antonov is Russian, not Ukrainian.
@Heightofhate Oh OK, then it's Ancient Greek =) What I wanted to say all the time is that nationality is irrelevant... Still, why does Antonov bear the colors of the Ukrainian flag?
@Darkonomist In Ex-Yugoslavia Albanian were all uneducated peasants living in rural areas. Now imagine, Serbs have a jet plant in Kosovo. Then comes the day when Kosovo becomes independent and now these jets have Kosov's flag painted on them.
The same is with the Ukrainian flag on Russia's Antonov.
"Moreover, the majority of Ukrainian citizens are Russians. Real Ukrainians are very rare and live almost only in rural areas and have no higher education."

Oh look! Another pirated aircraft design. Russians steal another one!

good landing. i dont like the positioon of the engines tho to be honest

WeeMee001,
The position of the engines is not done for looks.
They are placed above the wings for landing on rough grounds. This way no dirt gets sucked in the engines.

@ILTUSU They are put there also for using the Coanda effect and get lift from the fast air above!
