Ok its not nice to be in center of using drugs or being anorexic, but thats gives popularity.

2 THINGS:

1. They were famous WAY before they knew about paparazzi.

2. EVEN if they quit acting, the paparazzi would STILL follow them everywhere.

So don't say they "asked" for this, and don't judge them.

actually "stopping" is not that easy

I think that's a good point. "Stopping" would require a radical change in their lives, something akin to fundamentally changing who they've been for 22 years. Not so easy.

"it's their own problems that interest the world." Good point. If paparazzi were honest, it'd be different. But snapping a picture of MK going to work and then printing "MK goes shopping again" on a tabloid cover...easy to imagine how galling that can be.

Nobody's a bigger MKA fan than me, but let's get real: don't feel sorry for them - this is what this kind of fame brings you. They brought it on themselves. If they wanted to, they could stop it. But clearly they don't want to.

"If they wanted to, they could stop it." But that's not very realistic, is it? To stop it, they'd have to fundamentally, completely change their lives, maybe change their identities surgically and then go into hiding on a remote island somewhere. Is that realistic?

And I don't think it's so black-and-white. I think it's a matter of degree. Some aspects of fame/attention are probably very appealing, others (such as swarming paparazzi) not so appealing.

I agree that the paparazzi shit has created a problem for many. Dakota Fanning became a cheerleader and now the stands are packed with people with cameras trying to get panty shots. The way for the twins (unlike with D & E) to slow it down is to stop marketing themselves as the "next things." They create much of the hype themselves. D & E have active careers - they can't stop the snowball. The twins' snowball stopped with NYM, and the twins are trying to keep it going. My opinion.

Even had they brought it on themselves, which is arguable, I see no connection between that and the contention that they enjoy this kind of attention. We all bring things on ourselves that we later regret or find unappealing. I think it's very possible that this kind of attention, this kind of paparazzi frenzy, is not something they enjoy. I think we're on slippery ground when we make categorical statements about people like the Olsens, who after all are certainly not simpletons.

In a way I think they like the attention, but it can go both ways. I am always on slippery ground - it's more comfortable for me. I would rather make a wrong categorical statement than slip in from the back with something that is weak and borrowed. No they are not simpletons, but I think MK has a checklist of serious psychological issues. Thank you for never letting a stone go unturned, or however you say it, here.

Thank you. I'm always around. I've been getting obsessed with gymnastics lately, so I haven't haunted the MKA videos as much. (There are some pretty good discussions over there, too - there are people like you who are intelligent and bring up points that some may not agree with but that stimulate you to engage them.)

Btw, you've said before they're just "products", "made" by others. But here you say they brought it on themselves. Seems like a contradiction.

You give them little (if any) credit for their accomplishments, but at the same time you blame them for the problems attending those accomplishments.

There were made by others, but for the last few years they are in the position to do something about the things they don't like in their lives. I give them much more credit these days for their accomplishments than when they were younger.

she may be rich and beautiful and be able to travel anywhere she likes but i feel sorry for her. Because the one thing she doesnt have that say most people do have is privacy.

I agree, nwo5000. I also think it's sad that people gossip about something which has zero evidence, but almost NODOBY talks about the good stuff they REALLY do, such as contribute to charities such as:

Orangewood Children's Foundation

Darna - helping children in Africa

OrphanAidAfrica

Ovarian Cancer Research Fund

The painted Turtle Foundation - Along with the Newman Foundation, helps seriously ill children attend summer camp and get medical assistance.

I am allowed to have my own opinion about them. Good or bad. Just because I look at them differently than some of you may, doesn't mean I can't post what I think. They have put themselves in the situation where people will be following them everywhere, and I feel like they haven't handled themselves well at all. You don't have to agree, but it's my opinion.
