  • she is perfect!

  • Will someone please teach the wardrobe department at the Dutch National Ballet how to cut a tutu?!

  • Flowers In The Attic, anyone!?

  • This was absolutey STUNNING!!!!! Amazing! she is so good and she held her balance so well each time! Beautiful feet and extensions. I just loved it!!!

  • honestly, if some of you are getting on her about how long she can balance, think about this dance. The "Rose Adaigo" is a very hard piece, and I'd like to see you do it perfectly. Personally, I think Silvie was wonderful and a joy to watch.

  • its not about the foot work as much as it is for the passion of dance. because if you dont heave the heart to do it you wont get the steps..... heart and passion come first then you can learn the steps to the dances. :)

  • this music is beautiful

  • This scene just seems sad because of all the brown costumes and backdrops.

  • I adore ballet. Both watching and dancing it (more the watching as I stopped before en pointe, so I can't do too much). The only thing I don't like is that the girls are so thin. Maybe it's just me but I don't like that they are very straight up and down. Yes they dance beautifully but...I dunno it just seems wrong that they all have no boobs or waists.

This piece was amazing though. Beautifully turned legs and extensions.

  • @NickyLess the good thing is that more and more schools are accepting girls with curvy figures whereas it used to be only those who were stick thin

  • @GaaraGirl339 That is very good news :) Always glad to hear that kind of thing :)

  • This may easily be the best part of the show

  • SHE IS AMAZING! :)

  • Stunning! Look at her feet!!!

  • is the background music is the sleeping beauty

  • I'm a fan of ballet and by no means a ballerina in any respect (I've taken classes and have danced modern and that is all); but watching this and reading the comments.......if half of you could do what you say that she is lacking; then wouldn't I be watching you up here and not her? Just a thought. I think she was absolutely lovely and graceful and portrayed Aurora well.

  • I've watched a lot of different versions on youtube (the music is enthralling!!) but this will always be my favourite version. sure she wobbles but she chooses to hold her balance for a coupla seconds each time, instead of just instantly grabbing the next guy's hand - now THAT's brave and risky, and i think thats what makes it great. she dances with enough passion to challenge herself in front of thousands instead of playing it safe! <3

  • JUst beautiful.....wonderful production and dancing.

  • she has the most amazing feet

  • Sofiane is awe-inspiring.

  • She is good but not brilliant. Amongst th younger generation, I do prefer Aurelie Dupont who to my mind has incredible grace and technic.

  • Oh my lord she has beyond beautiful feet! She's an amazing dancer

  • The dancer is Sofiane Sylve and one of my all-time favorite ballerina's!! Apart from having an amazing technique, she has an incredible stage presence and combines force with elegance, an unique combination. There aren't many ballerina's like her I find. She's just something else!

  • Wow, the shape of these tutus seem to be reproductions of what they would have actually worn at the Imperial Theatre premiere in 1890! Nice to see that.

  • who is this? shes grogeous

  • @KittyUSF sofaine sylve

  • @KittyUSF i didnt even recognize her......shes my fav. dancer ever!!

  • meh.

  • @myRincon i'm sorry to everyone here but i have to agree.

  • I agree - the opening developees were astounding, I thought! It's true, her final series of balances were not as secure as one would wish. The most amazing sequence of balances I ever saw were from Cynthia Gregory, performing with ABT on Great Performances back in the 70s. She transitioned from attitude to Arabesque slowly and deliberately and then held Arabesque for a few counts. It seems that broadcast has been lost!

  • If you search for Cynthia Gregory's Aurora, dchiapello, you can find her rose adagio. I just did and it was stunning!

  • I can't thank you enough, Lissbirds! Watching it was no let-down!

  • No prob! I'm glad you told me about it so I could see it. Also, Alina Cocjucaru's Rose Adagio is no let-down, either and you might enjoy watching it.

  • The way she developpes is just perfect. The articulation of the feet :-)

  • Well, I thought she was just lovely! I mean, sure, she's no Darcey Bussell, But I'm sure none of you guys are either, so be quiet! She is a phenomenal dancer and anyone should aspire to look like that! Now stop putting down professional dancers and get back to the studio and work!

  • I think the costume is beautiful...

  • i absolutly loved it! i think their work is just beautiful!

  • It's because of the quality of this video that make the costumes go ugly, I've seen this perfomance for real and the costumes and especialy the stage design were to die for!

  • I didn't like this, drab tutu, matches her rather fake personality. I prefer a dancer that will take a risk!! sometimes she was too carefull, sometimes she seemed rather abrupt when collecting her rose after her developpe. Feet are not everything although they do help...need a stronger back . use of her shoulders and her head line please....my god that last prommenade I thought she may not make it!!

  • Fighting for a balance is painful to watch. You either nail it, or you don't. This was heavy,labored,un-exciting to watch. The dullest, ugliest costumes ever designed for this tale.

  • I completely agree!

  • Lovely performance! But I dislike the costumes. o.x

  • she's definitely an amazing dancer. i'd agree with you cat12154 that she needs more of a commanding presence. she's got big town ballet skill with a small town feel..but she's lovely. lol

  • her lines are beautiful! :) and her feet are amazing! I think she needs to have a bit of a more commanding presence, but she was beautiful! :)

  • Her heart-felt lightness is captivating, and wow, those are gorgeous feet and legs! But I have to agree with the other posters who said that her balances were very scary (that's the most I've ever seen an Aurora wobble), and she deserves a prettier tutu that makes her stand out from the other ladies.

  • Perfect.Beautiful.Elegant.

  • i admire her passion to not give up on those balances after her promanodes when she was probalby really dieing, but i was so scared when she was wobbling!!

  • Oh my goodness, I envy her extensions so much. And her promenades were beautiful. It took me a whole two years before I finally got one without falling over. :-P

  • aurora's tutu in this variation is definately not on my list of favorites, but you've got to admit that this variation is quite an amazing one.

  • she is lovely

  • Love the costumes and the dancing! The girl is wonderful!

  • omg! that was so weird when the first guy handed aurora the rose i instantly smelled rose! weird...

  • she is totaly amazing!! but i still prefer alina's rose adagio

  • does anyone know how tall sofiane sylve is?

  • Sofiane is 5'5". Rather short for a principal.

  • Oops! I was off! Sofiane is - in fact - 5'8" tall, 130 lbs.

  • Stunning! Great musicality! Beautiful.

Thank you so much for posting this!

  • wow i lov watching her becoz she is soo musical!!!

  • oh my wow, she is amazing, i couldn't stop watching her!!!

  • she is very gifted. bravo!

  • Question: Who is dancing Aurora?

    Other than that: Lovely!

  • It is Sofiane Sylve, and she is always lovely :)

  • its really hard to balance like that when EVERYONE is watching you...

  • she is absolutly beautiful

  • Mah...è tutta traballante...

  • people who doesn't like silvie just because of minor problems should be ashamed, ballet should be a dance about passion and beauty, not about the person who can put it leg higher or stay on balance! Dear lord

  • Yes! Excellent comment Mim. It appears that most young dancers really dont know how to assess one's performance aside from the techinical.

  • I think which ever company dances this the audience must hold their breath for the last bit on the piont/balance for the girl in question while she takes the hand of the princes one by one,it surely cannot be a easy thing to do?.

  • I love the third prince. He's awesome!! Not to mention Sofiane. It's weird to see this again. It's already four years ago. I was in this ballet too!!

  • im sure her shoes are custom, duh

  • Wow! She is so beautiful!

  • hmm i love the adagio and i know its fucking hard but she dosn't do it that well nfortunately see sylvey do it its just INCREDIABLE!

  • Not to mention this is when she was young. She is so strong and confident now in her dancing...

  • I have such flat feet it's so hard for me to do pointe. I've always wanted to have feet like those, even though it will never happen.

  • What kind of pointe shoes are those? I need those!

    I have feet like that!

  • well she certainly has an amazing arch

  • Her calves must be hard as steel.

  • she was amazing she and zakharova are the best aurora's....

  • may I suggest you watch Alina Cojocaru's Rose Adagio... that'll make you re-think a little bit your statement... nothing against zakharova.. but this was indeed painful to watch...

  • hmm, i don't agree, she is totally shaking when she does the attitudes and the promenades...i've seen maria eichwald from the stuttgart ballet dancing the aurora and she has been the most amazing one, i've ever seen, i really recommend you to watch her!

  • what you don't like SYLVIE???????

  • you missunderstood me, i really like her, but maria does this one better...

  • really?? ooooooohhhhhh....

  • This is the best Aurora I've ver seen...she is brillant, delicate, but also very strong. I like her much more than Alina. It doesn't matter that her balances are a little shaky because her grace and beauty are superior.

  • Maybe on the balances Alina is superior, but otherwise? It's Sofiane all the way. She's just so joyful and light, and to me is the embodiment of Aurora.

  • fucking amazing!

  • Great, but I think no ballerina tops Alina on this one !

  • i thought it was good.. but i totally prefer alina cojocaru's version

  • Absolutely wonderful. I don't think her balances are shaky at all. I saw her very secure. This adagio is the most difficult one for ballerinas. As soon as she comes on stage, she has to dance like that. Atitude derriere for a long time, going from hand to hand. Even the great ballerinas shake a lot.

  • This is true. But I love every minute of this adagio.

  • her balances are a little shaky, but other thatn that, gorgeous
