He hasn't had a chance to even attempt to write his own lyrics yet. He's still very young, and has lots of time to develop into a true artist. He has has an amazing voice and great potential. the kid is not a musician, he is a karaoke singer, singing songs written by other people. his voice is fine, but overall there is much better music in the world, but the show and this kid appeal to the lowest common denominator.

the suckas are the people who pay money to buy the singles and pay money to see the concerts...but, each to his own.

the funniest postings are from people waxing lyrical about what a diamond he is and "how perfect his voice is"...Quality comedy!

I think Archuleta proved this in some of his performances that had very little accompaniment and were very close to acapella (Imagine, And So It Goes, Stand By Me). He is only 17, still in school, and is only just beginning his career. Cook is 25, has already begun his music career a while ago, having a couple more years to develop his voice, make music and be part of a band.

Super cheesy and the poor kid is the victim of Simon Cowell's and Simon Fuller's assault on America's musical taste. Cowell's worth $200 million and Fuller about $500 million and they are clearly the winners...they create an audience for their product, sign the contestants to recording contracts and start selling singles. There is incredible music available in the world and it doesn't take much effort to find it, but this show and this music caters to the least common denominator.

American Idol has lost all credibility. Archuleta was by far the most consistent, greatest voice arguably in American Idol history. Even the judges expected it to be him.

For reasons I don't understand, the producers & judges wanted Cook to win, the "dad" theory is one of them but if that's true they could work around Jeff. Perhaps they felt David was too immature to handle the publicity, who knows? All I know is David was the best singer in the history of Idol & the judges & producers know it but won't admit to it. Cook is also very talented but Archie is unique, at least DA will have more of a say-so in his career & not be under Idol's thumb (like Cook).
