  • "Just ahead on tonights CBS evening news is rrrrrrrrrrrRRRRRR"

  • their shear markers are not traditional VIPIR style markers...the real ones actually rotate and arent fixed.

  • Classic tornadic signature

  • Feb 17 is my birthday

  • Geeeeez, when they went to the radar the first time that is about as classic a hook echo as you'll ever see!! Damn thing looks like a comma!!

  • This tornado is brought to you by Liberty Bank.

  • ha nice.

  • lol at the "Just ahead on tonights CBS evening news is RRRRRR"

  • Believe it or not.....

Los Angeles County, California has had more Tornado Touchdowns than Clark and Champaign Counties in Ohio. since 1950 more than 40 Tornaodes have hit L.A. County. only diffrence is that L.A. County's Tornadoes 99% of the time are weak not strong like in Ohio, Indiana, or Arkansas.

People think that L.A. County, CA is immune to Tornadoes...well Science proves them wrong.

  • i live in mechanicsburg 1.5 miles from 5 points and i stood outside watching a funnel cloud goin over houses

  • Thats pretty neat how he knew when to break in, cuz he came in immediately after the EAS activation concluded

  • so sad i hate tornadoes

  • was this near new york i live in the uk and i dont now for sure were that is so can someone please tell me?

  • It was in Ohio

  • i live in huber heights and do not remember that but I do remember earlier this summer we were in a ornado warning on a Tuesday

  • Tornadoes happen year around, not just in spring. learn your facts before you post. thanks.

  • lol that is sick! i would piss myself if i get a message like that in england seriously WTF!?

  • they say this was in february, right? then wouldnt there b snow instead of thunderstorms and tornadoes????? i mean, tornadoes dont occur in the winter!!

  • Sure they do. The Midwest is a weird place, like that. Hell, we've had tornadoes at Christmas time, before. :(

  • just thought i would let you know, i live where this hit in the mechanicsburg area, and we were having a very mild period this time and a cold front moved through that was workin like the outbreak of 74... so.. yeah this isn't bullshit

  • the mucinex dude was saying and EAS alert funny.

  • Those EAS mockups are so fucking funny!!!

  • What is the worst possible time for a tornado to hit?

  • Usually the afternoon, but they can hit any time of day. Here in Omaha, we had two tornadoes in the middle of the night (2:00 AM)this summer.

  • he did a good job. unlike some of the other stations where they scare you to death

  • Just ahead on CBS Evening News, it BLEEP xD

  • If the radar indicated rotation in the storm, a warning will go out, it doesn't have to be spotted.

  • Liberty Bank....straight out of GTA 4

  • haha

  • that is so cruel

  • Aren't tornado warnings only supposed to be used when a tornado is actually spotted visually?

  • Tornado Warnings can be issued when National Weather Service doppler radar indicates the potential of a tornado or they can be issued when a tornado is spotted by ground truth.

  • Furthermore a tornado warning can be issued at any time if a radar indicates rotation within the storm. Generally tornado warnings are precautionary, but if the storm is strong enough to trigger a warning then you should be taking cover anyways. Tornado warnings may be issued on trained weather spotter reports of rotating wall clouds.

  • it's a good thing they do it this way by issuing a warning if a tornado is imminent or highly likely, and radar indicated tornadoes, that way it gives people more time to take cover then warning people AFTER the tornado is on the ground or coming down, then it may be too late for some.. so it's safer and gives more warning and can save lives. Probably why there is less people getting killed in tornadoes lately.

  • only if a funnel cloud is spotted then a tornado warning goes out or for just a precaution

  • yes a tornado is forming or near

  • Ooh, a tornado on my Birthday. I really must have whipped up a storm that day. What level was this one? An F-3?

  • I was in columbus ohio the day before this happened and I do not remember anything that could have caused this severe weather. thanks for the video.

  • On that day, there was very strong wind shear in the atmosphere, coupled with some instability, those produced a brief low topped supercell.

  • If that happened to me, I would be scared!

  • "Just ahead on CBS news... (BEEP!!!)" that was funny

  • According to Wikipedia, an actual "Tornado Outbreak" consists of 6 or more tornadoes. Good call Ganja!

  • Damn, look at that hook echo! I haven't checked the NWS reports yet, but I'm willing to bet this one produced a funnel or tornado.

  • What I don't get is why people are calling this an outbreak and it's pissing me off. I live in Alabama, I've been through an outbreak before, and this wasn't one. There were probably 3 tornado warnings in alabama that evening and they were all from the same storm, that doesn't make it an outbreak. So please if you mention an outbreak, don't mention Alabama because you're full of shit. JUST BECAUSE THERE ARE 2 OR 3 TORNADOES IN A NIGHT DOESN'T MAKE IT AN OUTBREAK.

  • So will you have video of today's severe snow outbreak?

  • im surprise there wasnt a tornado in that

  • Whoa, look at that hook echo! I watched this on the NWS site and the VIPR overlay from ILN was definitely clear, but ILN is a good 60 miles away from this location, so even at the lowest angle, the radar is a couple of thousand feet in the clouds. Either way, that hook echo alone would have had me in the basement. Very well defined.

Thanks again for the upload Fritter.

  • this tornado warning was right here where I live (mechanicsburg) we had a funnel about 3/4 of a mile away from here at my house, i was outside in the front yard along st rt 161 watching it

  • That's the day of 50th Annual Daytona 500!!!

  • yes it was... and I had a tornado pass about 5 miles to my northwest and it knocked out power from about 4:00 until 9:30... i missed almost the entire race because of it... i was PISSED

  • This tornado warning scared the shit out of me (I live in Marysville). Most tornadoes on that day occurred in Georgia and Albama. I was like "wooo...where did this come from?"

  • This caught me off guard, because over here in Darke Co. nothing was remotely alarming. Do you think the rough weather down south will be moving in our direction in a month or so?

  • Is this the same storm that Indiana got an inch of snow from?

  • Gotta love classics hook echoes.

  • damn thats a nice hook

  • WOW look at the hook

  • Wow-seems like they redid the EAS interruption a bit. I never knew that there was any severe weather in Ohio/West Virginia, were there any more warnings?

  • Yeah, I noticed that as well. But I enjoy it more. The EAS voice is much more clear now.

  • That tornado warning (and the same severe thunderstorm warning) were the only warnings issued.

  • How come that red bar bullentin on the top scroll only one time? On your other videos it scroll across more than once. And the letters that was scrolling changed, What happened?

  • Not too sure... This is the first time I have seen the EAS broadcast on the HD channels. They must have modified it so it runs on analog and digital.

  • When did they change the EAS over there? Sounds and looks much cleaner.

  • Not too sure... This is the first tornado warning we have had in quite some time. The EAS has never ran on the HD channel of WHIO before so they must have something new over there with the digital station.
