I hate Telecasters. They are ugly, annoying to play, and the sound gets to me. I hate them so much. I never liked Fender guitars though, I'm a Gibson and ESP kinda guy.
ha. "punch yourself in the face." i think the best playing guitar i've touched was a tele. who agrees? it's not my favorite at all? but the action was perrrfect.
Jez Dave why must you play so smooothhhhh...gotta say was never really a fender guy...but I get weak at the knees looking at and listening to blondie over there. Take care and thanks for the videos once again.
Dig the Tele, but I really love that strat of yours... is she an american deluxe ash? custom shop? stock pickup's? You CAN'T EXPOSE THAT TONE AND LEAVE US THIS WAY :P
Love the lesson, love the tele, and love the intro/outro song. I'm assuming that's another one of yours... very very cool stuff, I dig the super wide stereo image with the delay, harmonics and piano, just beautiful.
I've been really enjoying these lessons with hybrid picking, I've found lately its really great for string skipping arpeggios, and breaking out of the three note per string. Keep rockin!
Dave, let me say first that I like that Riff a lot, and I most always get something from these videos.
I guess I dont understand how this is not scale like? Rather than moving the riff towards the first fret, couldnt you find the same notes just going up and down, like a traditional scale?
I really like the idea of playing the licks in rythem and that has been helping me a lot in the past few weeks
cause the ibanez hype is setteling down since like a year or so... i also find the good old strats les paul etc more appealing in the last time i must say... its wierd
I will keep a few 7s for use in my music and on tour with Vai. But where I am now as a musician, the Strats and Teles and LPs provide the feel and sound that Iby couldn't.
I wanted to make some joke using a metaphor for breaking up with a girlfriend and how you might want some make-up shredding just so it would be like the good ol days. But then I thought that would be inappropriate.
Dave, did you develop a taste for Lydian playing with Steve so much or were you a fan of it before? I've heard him play so much Lydian that it always reminds me of him.
Hi Dave - you prob already answered this before but what kind of camera do you use and do you use some sort of work lights or anything when filming? Thanks!
I think riffs can be more than just the typical Metallica-style rhytm-riffs. I like the "repeated theme" interpretation which is a definition that includes leads. :)
Uh, anyway.. Nice riff Dave and Blondie looks way sweet!
i think he always used it in public cause he was endorsed by ibanez and now he is nomore so he can now use the tele or strat or whatever he likes all the time ;)
Love the lessons!

@StopRunningKid-
You're the antonym to me... I think personally find Gibson to be too "common" , everyone needs variety, and authenticity..

b/c the notes are not sequential... ok some is. some isn't. But that's what I aim for.

what audio interface do you use to connect your guitar into amplitube?

Right now a Digi 002R. But that pile of crap is being sold as soon as my record is done.

Hahaha, you're very funny, i like that. Dave, do you use the Fender pickups that were with the tele? Or do you use dimarzio ones?

That guitar is stock but I have a couple of noiseless Dimarzio Tele pups I'll be trying out.
