I never heard this before, but wanted to hear it after reading a comment by Andrew Alexander in the Daily Mail 1 Feb 2012: "My first encounter with Delius's music was in the school choir when presented with the score of To Be Sung On A Summer Night on the River [sic]. I was transfixed, then and ever since. Delius is grotesquely underrated." Last weekend was the 150th anniversary of the composer's death.
So gorgeous..WHS orchestra is playing this as a group and I thought I should see what the choral version of this piece was..Little did I know how pretty it was.
If the Angel of God appeared to me and went "la la la" like this I fear I might chortle myself to death. I'm afraid I find the title far more beautiful than the music itself.
How simply marvelous are these two short works. I've played them back several times now, and each time I feel something fresh and hopeful. THANK YOU for posting these! And thanks for including the score! Delius Delius Delius!!!!!
