My dad Charlie was a pipeline welder for 40+ years in South and West Texas. I worked with him as a helper for a couple of summers during high school. It looks a lot more glamorous than it is. It's hard ass work. It had the desired effect on me, though. I decided I wanted to be something other than a pipeline welder. I am a journeyman inside electrician. Dad is retired now and still likes to build BBQ pits and such at 73 y.o.

Excellent video. As a rig welder i love how somebody took a picture of a guy laying on his back in a muddy ditch... Thats why we get paid the big bucks.
