Photo Shop Layers add 2nd photo to layer

I dont get where you add the second photo to be able to merge it. I have specefic photos i want to merge but im not sure how there even downloaded together. I new to photoshop.

Hello! One very important question! Please help. If we are watching your example where 1,2,3 are on different layers: how can i change the color, glow shadow, etc. of the numbers all together? so i want to change number 1's color on its layer to blue, and when I change, then 2 and 3 also change to blue on their own layers. how do i link their layers to change together? pls help

it's there to show people who need to learn how to move a graphic into a new layer . Thus having any affect they desire More than one graphic on one layer, or layering to get the result you want

How do you edit single layers without messing with the whole picture? For example if I'm doing a collage adn I want to change the contrast on one layer I keep doing it for the whole picture and it messes everything up? Please help thanks.
