I heard this song when I was 19 chopping vegetables in a restaurant and I've never been quite the same since. I've been a country music fan and a Gram fan every since and it changed my musical life (I'm a musician). In my world, this is one of the greatest songs I've ever heard.
@sfperkins36 i can relate too, i just met a new friend and started playing some songs together, and we started talking and found out gram is both of our favorites, we have been having a lot of fun playing some of his songs this being one of them, maybe not everyone in the audience knows the songs but they do now
Obviously, this video part is hard to watch, but who cares ? That's how good the song is, and how good Gram and Emmylou were when they were together. A match made in heaven .... and then Gram screwed it up with his self destructiveness. Emmylou sings in Boulder to Birmingham ..."well, you really got me this time, and the hardest part is knowing I'll survive ....I would walk all the way from Boulder to Birmingham if I thought I could see your face" Best goodbye song, ever.
God made woman beautiful and foolish; beautiful, that Gram might love her; and foolish, that she might love him.

Gram had a lot of demons. I can relate. He didn't mean to leave so soon. It just happened. He had a real talent

Emmylou, one of the greatest harmonizers in the history of pop music. Love her duet with Ryan Adams on this song as well

This was fun watching as this was one of the magical combination of voices. They seemed to really enjoy singing together.
