HTC Touch HD - Playing 800x480 video!

Ive got xmen:wolverine on dvd which was legitimately copied to my pc & touch hd (came with free digital copy which can also be downloaded to my phone). It copied fine & playsback via WMplayer. But the frame rate is bloody slow & jerky - can something simple be done to sort this? if not, what? Im not an IT boff, so if someone would be helpfull enough to explain in plain & simple terms I'd be very appreciative. cheers.

HD is just a buzzword. 800x480 is 16:9 480p. That's ED. (Enhanced Definition) Remember don't get confused by the two.

the original HD 16:9 is 856x480 (named 480p)

Touch HD has hardware acceleration, so video quality is very impressive. But make sure your video player is capable to use the hardware. somehting like TCMP soley depends on CPU power and the quality will drop of course.

Im not sure which phone u mean. Touch HD has 3G too ^^ (HSDPA and HSUPA). The only thing i miss is a capacitive screen.

The HD 1 is good in playing videos although you need the good codec to make them play smoothly (I use blackstone video converter).

ABSOLUTE FAKE.! Sorry guys but it is fake. Why modded the video at the time that demo starts?.. Because HD it is IMPOSSIBLE to plays divx/xvid EVEN at 640x480.. nor at 800x600 :).. It is ABSOLUTE FAKE.. trust me.. i have both Omnia and HD.. HD is 3 times slower because of the screen resolution.

Sice mi připadá 98% podezřele vysoké, když ostatní mají 80-90%, na druhou stranu je to furt naprosto nekoukatelné. Video je koukatelné od doby co má v coreplayeru aspoň 115%.

Já radši budu hrát 800x480 1mbit+128 bitrate v kvalitnim h264 codecu ve WMP/Album. To se nesekne ani jednou za celej film.

Video BITrates are in BITS. Decent quality xvid/divx is 1000 kBit/s so this is a good demo.

A few questions:

1. Which source did you use? I've converted the 480p trailer from apple with your exact settings using SUPER and I only get 80% in the benchmark.

2. You say the format is 829Kbps, but in SUPER one can only select 816 or 864, which one did you use?

3. Can you post a video where it's apparent you are playing back the same video? In this one you cut after showing the resolution and then again cut in the end.

AND "avi" is NOT video codec or format. It is video file extension. Use only DivX, XviD or FLV codec. And of course, you can use .AVI video file extension, but it doesn't say anything about used video codec...

The Average Speed of the benchmark is about 98.89%, so it's narrowly.

The exact format of DivX video is: 800x480, 829Kbps and 23,976 fps.

ha, thank you. Have you tested with Zoom smoothing ON or OFF? if the video fits exactely the screen resolution there's no purpose in having this function ON. So maybe there's room for a little improvement. Don't you think so?

This is just about it :o). I forgot to show in the video. Yes, the video is the same as the display, so "Smooth Zoom" is "Off" and the classic Zoom is "100%". Then the video is smooth.
