  • one of the rare true overtaking of the last years at montmelo

  • btw awesome video far away from bullshit drs and kers times

  • can someone tell me why they masde f1 cars less wide after 97??

  • A shame Herbert ended his career with zero points in 2000 at Jaguar.

  • waha! nice one

  • aaaaah back in the days where Sauber was a great team with good results

  • @DVGTS1 Their BMW era was the most successful actually.

  • The Sauber C16 used in 1997 was the last Formula 1 car to have a perfectly round steering wheel.

    The more you know...

  • Lol Painis.

  • When I saw the title I expected Johnny B Goode to start aswell

  • johnny does a senna type throttle blip mid corner :) sounds great.

  • what an astonishing sound from the 3.0 V10!!

I miss so much old F1

  • ah yes this is more like it, back in the days when V10's were used, graveltraps were everywhere and stewards rarely got involved, i may have only been 5 at the time but even so i miss those days :(

  • One of the best era's of f1!! When the pilots make the difference not the cars like today!!!! Can you imagine today a sauber overtaking a mclaren??? or a lotus overtaking a ferrari??impossible. There is to much electronic in modern f1 in my opinion.

  • @gianblood your memory must be a bit screwed. In 1997 there was very much a pecking order of cars just the same as there has always been. Would you have seen a Tyrrel or Minardi posting fastest lap, passing the entire field? Nope.

  • @chrisjones1980 you're right ! but i think that there was more competition between the cars and pilots in this era.

  • @chrisjones1980 Over 97/98 Ferrari, Benneton, McLaren, Williams, Jordan, Prost, Stewart, Arrows and Sauber all scored podiums. Also, a lot of the pecking order was down to qualifying in those days... 60 minutes and unlimited laps, so that usually meant the fastest would eventually be established. Gone are the days of 1v1 championships and overtaking having any value. Such a shame.

  • @WhyGenFM3 But what you are not taking into account there is that at least three if not four of those teams scored podiums due to the much higher retirement rate back then due to the much slacker regs on engine changes. Mechanical, hydraulic and electronical issues were much higher back then.

  • the last year of good loking f1 cars :(

  • barcelona, right?!

  • @SuperCharlie183 Exactly Charlie, when it was still a proper circuit without that hiddeous chicane before the last corner.

  • @GoAround1 barcelona used to be such a lovely circuit, but now...

  • @GoAround1 Thank you Tilke !!!!!!! What a pussy circuit Architect !

  • Dc is all over the place, set it up Dc set it up!

  • is that a fuckin red bull logo on the front of the car?

  • @Lovinatorka Yes, Red Bull sponsored Sauber from 1995 to 2004

  • @blainyrules :O

thx for the info ^^ i born in 96 -.-"

  • that´s fuckin racing!! real overtaking manovers without any fuckin drs ! -.-

    great drive by johnny

  • coulthard loocked up twice at the same corner!!! wtf is he doing

  • Lets face it, Coulthard was one of the worst drivers in modern F1

  • @Roguirio Agreed. Coulthard was more or less a useless driver who for some reason got to drive way better cars than he ever deserved.

  • well, there was his problem, kept locking up the tires entering that left hander.

  • such great sounds, hardly any tech in the cockpit and amazing looking cars...wish it could go back to looking like this!!!!!

  • Funny fight :)

  • best era in f1

  • Love the engine sound too.

  • loved the wider cars we need them back.

  • Herbert did pretty well at Sauber in 97.

  • The sides of the car look so much thinner in the late 90s :)

  • @simoncase 20cm narrower from 1998. they looked better when they were wider.

  • this is 1997. i LOVED that season

  • that's great!

  • hitting the limiter on the straight

  • the pressure blew him off. nice move ;)

  • good move

  • rare video. thanks!

  • great movee..

  • It's Barcelona Catalunya!

Intelligent overtake!! It's Herbert! Wait and See!

  • great looking cars

  • you're absolutely right!!goAround, really nice footage!it's really difficult finding onboard footage from those years...and from sauber too!

  • nice pass
