Im going to transfer to this unversity for their ROTC program and also for the scholarship they offer. It'll be tough since Im trying to get back in shape again, but the scholarship is worth getting!!!!!
The only reason I don't want to do ROTC but stay enlisted in Army Reserve is because officers seem to have all the boring jobs. I'll just do OCS when I'm fairly confident I can be assigned to a combat arms branch.
@guitarhamster102 lol same here. don't feel like getting commissioned into a boring branch. just sticking with psyop spc in the army reserve. Though, I think OCS might be more competitive now because the army is cutting back on everything, including slots for combat arms branch officer slots. make sure you still keep that GPA and pt score wayyy up there because the OCS still looks at college GPA.
@guitarhamster10 Trust me dude don't make the mistake and choose a combat arms job, everyone says they want this. Get a real job trust me, people change there minds more about this job then any other. Plus the money is nothing compared to what you could have done with ROTC.
I'm an MSI with my ROTC Battalion and for those that are on the fence of whether they want to do it or not, DO IT! I've only been a part of the program for 2-3 months now but it has easily become the best part of my college experience. The whole experience of Army ROTC can't be explained in words.
Maybe he got the impression you disrespected him and therefor yelled at you.
Where I live we got a similar vocular school program to become an sailor/private/airmen/marine or a nco in one of the branches and it's tough for us to train with peers and then go to the nco-school hopefully graduate and stand in front of a group who already have combat-experience
You will be #1 the rookie/newbie etc and a leader and while trying to prove yourself you make mistakes see his yelling as s
i am infantry, i have been 2 afghanistan, i have been shot at, i have shot back, i am an enlisted soldier, and a guy who went 2 a college rotc coarse 2 days a week is now in charge of me, he doesnt know anything about being deployed, he doesnt even know how 2 disassemble and reassemble a 240 and he gets payed twice as much as me, makes sense right?
@116skinnyboy - it makes perfect sense. and with all do respect, Im sure the officer knows a lot. sure he doesn't know about being deployed but that's why he should still listen to the NCO's despite the fact that he will be a higher rank.
@fcoronel1 my LT yelled at me cause i tried 2 help him with the 240, he attempted 2 take it apart in a way that could hurt himself, i corrected him and he was pissed, my old LT when i was deployed almost killed an entire platoon of infantrymen with an airstike, luckily he didnt know coordinates, LT's are nothing but over paid glorified privates, i think before a man is ever givin that much power he should have at least one combat tour
if i went to college with a psychiatry major would i be working as a psychiatrist in the army once I'm finishid with colledge and my rotc training ended?
I am planning on joining ROTC when I graduate in 2 years, I hope I will be accepted in the 4 year scholarship. And I hope I will excel at being a US Army Officer.
Wow I'm jealous lol I wanna be an officer but too late leave to fort benning as a 11x infantry recruit march 13th!!!

@Slycops "psychiatry" isn't a major in college. Psychiatry is a medical specialty. The only way to become a psychiatrist is to go to med school.
