I got that model not to long ago. It has a switch that you sllid and makes a hole in it.Theres a hook that connects to the stern but when the water reached the third funnle it presses down on the hook witch releases the stern. Pretty cool huh?

to answer your question, there is a switch at the hull that allows it to float or sink. and to answer everyone else's question, i found it online, and when i bought it 2 years ago it was listed as a collectors item at USD $40. now it is being sold for over $100 in some places. and buyers beware. propellers break off easily and i lost one and now only have 2 of the 3.

i have one of these and i can tell u how it breaks but its gonna be alot of typing. in the front section, theres a hook on the inside that holds the back section, and on the other side of that hook, theres a little box full of air, so when the front section goes under water, that box tries to stay above water and it releases the back section.
