  • from when is this interview, late 70´s?

  • now in the hall of fame !! people need time to understand things !

  • From memory there was Fats Waller, Howling Wolf and Sun Ra. Great interview, great interviewer, thanks uploader. (bad title but thats a moot point, he's really together here.) ta.

  • I couldn't hear him real well: could anyone tell me who Iggy said his favorite musicians growing up were? I got Cab Calloway, but the others I wasn't sure of.

  • Have a look at Tom Snyder interviewing John Lydon and Keith Levene of PIL...three, maybe four interviews, each one fascinating...the earliest very defensive/antagonistic in equal measures, and the later ones more more enlightening in other ways - Snyder begins to empathise with Lydon, and Lydon appreciates the chance to dispense with all the hysteria and talk about his art.

  • I love the way Iggy becomes more lucid as time goes on, to the point where he educates his host, and half the audience, about Dionysian vs Appollonian art..love it :)

  • Since when is Sun Ra conventional? Are you serious?

  • I really like this Tom Snyder bloke, and I don't even know him...

  • decrepit? rock n roll energy more like you deluded asshole. Go watch X factor and fuck off from the genre that people give their bodies for.

  • He's definitely got some great music tastes.

  • Let him catch his breath.

  • Man this dude is has good takin functional has him dancin/ this dude got brains cells dieing ever second

  • wtf iggy pop isnt new wave haha

  • nose bleed fron snorting to much coke wow he is of his dick!!!!!!

  • @Lebenoodle he also has blood where his tooth should be and a fat/bloody lip

  • @Lebenoodle Maybe. Maybe he hit the mike stand for real. Ass of u and me.

  • no its a good question

  • Sun Ra was never conventional! NEVER! Tom you were wrong with that one....

  • He's off his fuckin nut here

  • functional wastecase if ever there was one and i thought keith richards had it bad.

  • I always liked Iggy. A polite and engaging chap. A bit off the wall but that's fine - interesting people are in short supply

  • iggy pop is new wave.

  • has somebody punched out his front tooth?

  • So cool that Iggy is so cool to Tom, and takes time to explain about monitor speakers, instead of mocking his question like many jerky rock stars would.

  • Tom Snyder is just so funny - Dan Ackroyd can't even come close. Great interview with two masters!

  • Dianisic element?

  • did'nt think he would be alive now! saw him three times in 1977,78,79 and he really was good.Today him and his mini me selling car insurence, well I would never had believe that...lol

  • Just a little white lie from this poster,to get more hits.He was definitely under some kind of psychofarmaca here ( to which he was no stranger '74)

Articulate ,but slightly confused and in pain. But prime example that a bit of a fall, and standing up again, can be good for you.

  • My music is 'intrusive' :) Very nice, Iggy

  • A bit coked up yes, but mostly the guy is just naturally one hell of an animal. And he just got done performing and is out of breath. He's no meathead, Iggy is one intelligent fellow.

  • decrepit?! He was articulate, interested, witty and discussed his music in light of Nietzsche's theories! He was miles ahead of the interviewer for christ's sakes! decrepit my lily white a*s*s.

  • Comment removed

  • we all got problems but thats what makes people great you are groundbreaker like jimi hendrix bom

  • Iggy is far from decrepit. he is genuinely interested and engaged with the whole process. In everything he has ever done it's all entertaining-even his interviews. I thanks the cosmos he ever came into being.

  • @cattycakes64 I agree! This is perhaps the most honest and interesting interviews I've seen with Iggy. The Interviewer is obviously interested in what the man has to say, unlike so many others that just wanted to create spectacle, rake dirt or just belittle the art form in general. Whoever posted this doesn't even know the meaning, (Dict.) of the word decrepit. Sad.

  • @NadiaDowton Iggy was all about courtesy and generosity of spirit when dealing with others. To me he is both lucid and engaged with Tom Snyder from start to finish.

  • @cattycakes64 Totally agree- well put.

  • @cattycakes64 well said

  • tom snyder

  • iggy is really such an intelligent person, love his honesty..... iggy and jim carroll may be the truest artists of all ........

  • anyone have the songs from this interview?

  • Decrepit?

  • He has a beautiful smile! :B

  • is that better? kiss kiss.

  • I mean like YOU HAVE! lol

  • no, I have never had sex with man like you. feel better?

  • GET A LOAD OF THE SYRUP.

  • He`s on heroin here. Empty, glassy eyes...

  • @TheHappySuicider How do you know he is? Were you hanging with him that night? Don't say that shit unless you know. I am sick of people guessing what people are doing.

  • @johnnystaccata I sad it before...empty, glassy eyes. TINY PUPILS! It`s clear. I was there too and I looked many times my face in the mirror...

  • @TheHappySuicider yes he was big on the poppies!!!

  • He throws up on his audience??? Ewwwww...

  • homosexuality leads to ... deprivation of the human soul/mind. period. he's disintigrating. and he's not an artist, just perverted. drugs intensifies the slide downward.

  • @Robb9096 and you know this, how? have you been a homosexual? have you tried to make music while under the influence of drugs? if your answer to either of these questions is no, then you should shut your ignorant mouth.

  • interesting how iggy plays the interviewer, SELF RAISING FLOWERS

  • Is it just me, or is Iggy so great also because he BECAME everything that 60 Punk Garage Rock pretended to be, or promised?

  • guitar...people haha

  • just reminds me, what a dolt of an interviewer, tom snyder was. he had the touch of a blacksmith. nuance, was unknown to him. apolonian and dionysian, would have flown right over his bloody dim head.

  • The interviewer just called Sun Ra conventional lol Even now, his music is light years away

  • Strange that he didn't mention Jim Morrison as a artist he looked up to. Early Stooges reeks of it.

  • @SlaytanicMegaforce: he had acknowledged Morrison as an inspiration, especially earlier in his career. He was pretty forthright about it. IMO he went way beyond Morrison, who was usually had a pretentious edge to his act - like he was a performance artist at work. Iggy was more genuine.

  • @BobTheRecordGuy You have a point. I think Jim Morrison was more interesting as an artist though.

  • at 5:12 he reminds me of Dustin Hoffman in Tootsie.

Can we have intelligent rock maniacs again...please?

  • he just got done playing a song, that prbly explains the heavy breathing and shit. He wasn't stoned.

  • @5150zombie lol, again. "He wasn't stoned." How do you reach this conclusion? Were you there? Everything about his actions and appearance and speech suggest that he's high out of his mind. I don't KNOW he was stoned, but you don't KNOW that he wasn't. So don't claim that you do unless you were there or Iggy told you himself.

  • Hahaha!!!! These comments are so funny. "Looks like he blacked out a tooth"? Lmao!!

    Hee Hee hee.....he....no?

  • Iggy completely overpowers the interviewer with his intellect.

  • 06:16 LOL ! and what happened with his teeth ?

  • he speak sof greek myth and philosophy after playing a rock show, dionysus and apollo - this guy is a legend

  • Tom Snyder hosted many groups and provided an outlet for lots of bands, authors, and actors at a time when network television was devoid of interesting cultural representatives. He gets props from those of us who were around then. But the hipster critics here (who weren't even born then), don't even know who he is so they dump on him because of his square image. But hipsters always judge based on the superficial.

  • @bowiemott yes!

  • @bowiemott

nah I'm making an informed decision that he was a square personality himself - although I admire him for bringing interesting folk like Iggy and Leary to his show.

  • Sounded intelligent, repectful of the respectful questions, whats decrepit? If you ask me (and I'd know) he looks great for a guy doing the amount of drugs he was at the time(ish). Iggy's fuckin great man, just wish he'd quit the car insurance ads (dya get them in the states) C'mon Iggy, be the 'Passenger' then you wont need the fuckin insurance.

  • I dont think he seems high or anything. Though I do not think most of you have had the experience of playing loud, live music in front of lots of people. It is very invigorating and certainly stimulates your brain in an unusual way. You might notice he seems a little less wide eyed and calmer towards the end after he has settled.

  • wow, whatever happened to Tom Snyder?

  • Fun House is fucking amazing!

  • I think at the time, Iggy was a male Borderline. Not many of those. He cut on himself, and even stabbed himself on stage.

  • damn he is so high!!! lol

  • Good looking

  • seems he blacked out the tooth for some reason...

  • @simonbath he thow the mic to his mouth..thats why

  • Iggy's definately got the "package" movements for this interview lol.

  • looks a bit like tony montana

  • @Alithecomedian ha! he totally does! good call

  • Comment removed

  • cocaine eyes

  • @3chrds You think? ;)

  • Downright compelling! Quirky - but sweet too, & totally original... Tom Snyder's a really good interviewer, too - he keeps pace, goes with the flow, & helps make it interesting but fun (i'm even OK with it being called "decrepid" even tho it -mostly- isn't... for some reason it makes the vid seem even funnier) But - those are THE bluest eyes i've ever seen, so i don't know how that commenter saw them as black!?

  • Iggy...Little blobs upon the skin, produced of an ebullition of the blood.

  • Decrepit, My Ass ...RE-TITLE this video !

  • what a legend.rock stars all kiss ass nowadays.nice guy that tom snyder.bit mislead.why should middle america ??welcome iggy?what will you do for them?become bland like them?jesus .iggy is a model of restraint here

  • A true, life artist, Had more than his fair share of luck though.

  • "if you toned it down a bit , do you think you would have more fan...why are you bleeding? " haha its great.

  • Im not gay and still, i would totally do Iggy

  • he's kinda hot here

  • Gotta love Tom Snyder. he always treted artists with respect.

  • I do cocaine

  • I thought this was a very good interview. They were respectful of each other, and Iggy was articulate. He didn't appear to be stoned or whatever.

  • @bosszerobo...He's High as Kite. Flying so hig.......higher them me now.

  • That's Iggy Pop? He looks like Spock on meth!

  • @bosszeroboss

not stoned?? look how hard hes breathing at the beginning

  • @KIDAmnesiacBends He just got done playing. He talked about not being able to speak articulately right after playing. He was probably tired. - Scott

  • @FearOfSilenceTV

    this is iggy pop though...

  • @bosszeroboss He didn't appear to be stoned? Have you ever been stoned? He's breathing heavily, very easily distracted, talking about minor details of his life, and bobbing his jaw and mouth around like crazy. And he's Iggy Pop.

  • @dannoj98 And... he's Iggy Pop, lol.

  • @bosszeroboss Look at his eyes, lol.

  • Iggy just performed a song and knocked a teeth out

  • i look at this vidio and only can think "iggy on coke"

  • interesting interview - quite respectful of Iggy and what he had to say and he in turn, respected the interviewer

  • theres more lol. and worse!funny how i love ig at his worst¿!?!
