guys, it's a saute basque, no matter what you say... i think it came from russian folkdancing since they do it, but turned in... and i think it was made for this solo, u rarely see it elsewhere, so u could call it a corsaire saute basque or soviet saute basque or whatever.... but its definetely a saute basque
@MrNocco Yes, it is a variation on a saut de basque. We usually just call it the 'corsaire jump' because you're right, it's almost exclusively used in this solo.
Hey guys its Joseph GATTI the one in the video... check out my new video of me recently performing in CITY CENTER NYC "Walpurgis Night Ballet" stop looking at this one cause its too old the video!! hahahaha check out my recent dancing and also my NEW SATANELLA!!!!
well its a certain variant of saute basque, the most common is only with one leg, not two, so i guess this cold be called a saute basque double-retirré
yeah, i was going to say just that... it is deffinately a variation on the saute basque, and i think double-retirre saute basque is the best 'official name' for it!
@periodictable47 , actually, it should be called a pas de chat en tournant. Saut de basque is a different step in wich one of the legs stay stretched.
Beautiful variation baby !!!!! I'm so proud of you.You deserve all the best.I really enjoy very much dancing "Le Corsaire" with you and of course all the other ballets.I love you !!!!!You are AMAZING !!!
He is really, really good.

How exquisitely controlled!
Ballet people out there, what's the technical name of that jump he does - legs turned out, knees bent, feet brushing together in midair?

What a beautiful balance he has! He could stand with one leg even in the end of dazzling turns.
