  • Holy Shit.

  • Adoro isso! isso que é arte de cantar e tocar!

  • Just one word...KILLER....now i'm gonna look myself in the mirror and ask if I still wanna play the F&#@ guitar

  • he REALLY GOT RITHYM!

  • 0:26 He had the pick on his mouth...

  • @jose044 Well spotted! How the hell does he sing with the pick in his mouth?

  • Phenomenal!

  • wow i get to perform with this guy in a week

  • How the frick does he move his middle finger like that at 1:01?

  • @MrDrewbies

A lifetime of study, impeccable 'guitar genetics'. His father was a renowned Jazz guitarist too, so we can assume that he was started very young but more importantly, started right... When that happens and the person sticks with it over their lifetime, it usually results in abnormally impressive skills.

  • Those 9th, 13th, i'm guessing what are 15th chords are beautiful. I can't stop watching this! Also don't quit guitar from this! He's just going up and down the fret board lol

    Still sounds kick ass, though.

  • Bad mother fucker......

  • Can we do a Vulcan Mind-Meld? I could use a few of your moves. Very nice.

  • I can't play these jazz progressions to save my life. I can fake very compelling and sophisticated 12 bar blues stuff. What I find useful in Mr. Pizzarelli's performance is a kind of left hand movement that mimics the hand of a jazz player without any of the technical knowledge. It sounds silly, but it helps my playing and I've even fooled a couple of people into thinking that I'm actually playing this stuff. John is amazing.

  • Wow! Great!!

  • Buddy Holly was not born until 1936 !!.

  • changes? anyone?

  • @seamonkeyguitars

The typical rhythm and changes chord progression

  • Buddy Holly originally sang this in the 30's but this is kickass.

  • @TheSirTurquine Gershwin wrote it actually

  • What Guitar is he playing, the Head Looks like the City of New York with its buildings

  • @Schlappa19 it's made by Bill Moll

  • Wow.. 13 jealous people? That's it??

  • this is awesome..the most impressive thing to me is the bassline. how the hell is that working?

  • Omai o_o <3

  • :-) John picks his pick from his mouth, wtg! :-D at 0:28

  • @jacobe888

Yes, but I want to know how can he singing and keeping the pick on is mouth???

  • :-) John picks his pick from his mouth, wtg! :-D

  • Best ever. Period.

  • This guy is fantastic and his dad is just as awesome!

  • best version of I Got Rhythm EVER. @Valii2 - i hear ya!

  • 7 string guitar. bad ass

  • take that George Benson LOL

  • @tinman5680 nothing to be scared of ))) if you notice he plays 4-5 cords in different positions ;-)

  • fucking terrifying...

  • Mind=Blown

  • jaco pastorius on guitar !

  • @JuliFunkikero Nope...John Pizzarelli on guitar. I don't think a comparison between two extremely talented, extremely different artists is appropriate.

  • It's really fantastic!

    10**********

  • I'm still amazed by all the people who get blown away by his singing & playing together. Don't they understand that that's how its done? Singing through your instrument that is.

  • @TheGhoulardi Yes, but it takes a ton of practice and great aural skills to do such a thing. That's what's impressive.

  • His voice sounds like Chet Baker... his playing's excellent though

Should I get "So hard to forget" or the "Freddie Green tribute" CD?

  • @busessuck1 the tribute to Freddie Green is Bucky Pizzarelli's album if my memory is treating me right. Both amazing players, how bucky still manages to swing so hard and keep that quintessential grin across his face is beyond me.

  • AMAZING!!!

  • i quit playing guitar after this

  • @Valii2 i took my guitar and practised for years ;)

  • @Valii2 tht's awful stupid. i got inspired to play guitar more after watching this

  • This cat can sure sell a tune.

  • What a mind blowing performance! I did actually transcribe part of his solo from 0:31 to 0:58 and there is one part where he isn't spot on pitchwise matching guitar to vocal, the line around 0:45. But that is still the most incredible thing ever, I wish I could transcribe the comping, but even slowing it down is too hard for me. This would definatley rank in my top 10 amazing guitar performances I've seen in my life. As well as such a great tune!

  • Blows my mind. Nice voice! Awesome playing!

  • WOW

I could probably play the guitar part if I had the music, and at least 3 years to learn it, but to sing that great as well??

  • that last chord...

  • Does this man have an album?

  • @AshmanGT Oh yes, my friend. I strongly suggest you check out "Meets the Beatles", and "Bossa Nova". Pizzarelli is indeed a hidden gem.

  • wow that's awsome!

  • 12 people are rythmless

  • @DarthMeymar Shut up.

  • @NavaJane blow me hard

  • @DarthMeymar Grow a cock before. Enjoy this wonderful music instead of talking about people who doesn't like the video.

  • this is brilliant... what a great musician.

  • ueeeedannnnn co'.... fuck'n awesome.....

  • everytime i watch it i feel like stop wasting time on internet and get back to them exercises. a fabulous bop player (chord solo SO based on his fathers' concepts), and a nice singer. in one. too much win

  • so good

  • He'd probly kick my ass in a fist fight as well..lol

  • what the fuck

  • bamm ! great !

  • I reckon I could take him in a fist fight.

  • ....who can ask for anythin' more indeed.....

  • Comment removed

  • this guy's amazing...!

  • greeeeeeeeeeat solo!

  • @grantclerehugh You better be trolling because if your not, immediately check into a hospital becasue you suffer from severe mental handicaps. And possible deafness...

  • Mamma mia... :-|

  • what kind of guitar is that...thats gonna bug me all day

  • @llbuono: I don't know the exact model, but it's a Benedetto. He spent a mint on that one.

  • @LovelaceCPA eh it helps lol and it did bug me all day XD

  • @LovelaceCPA - Actually, John plays Moll Custom Guitars. That one in the video is actually his signature 7 string.

  • Awesome! Who could ask for anything more?

  • John make a great performance, ever!!

  • Yea, pick in his mouth till solo time--I wont ask for anything more

  • I bought one of your CD's a decade, at least, ago. Heard a young girl singing " IGR",looked it up & saw your name. You are extremly good--I play guitar, but nothing close to your skill. WOW! Ron E.

  • WOW!!!

  • Wow! Fantastic! Wonderful guitar, great voice! We enjoyed it.

    Bonnie and Willy Leeman

  • He ought to be wayyy more famous than he already is. He's an entire full blown band rolled up into one incredible talent.

  • this is pre-Brioni endorsement

  • is that some flatpicking i see there ?

  • Mind Blowin'!

No more to be said. better than Benson. even.

  • sick...holy hell.

  • this guy is da swing master

  • what a solo!

  • What.A.Fucking.Hauss.

  • @KrummyBear

    what is a hauss?

  • Haha, it's kind of a football term, but it is liken-able to a "beast" or a "monster".

  • @KrummyBear

hehe yeah he's one of the biggest hausses around :)

  • xD truth be told.

  • that sounds SO cool when he sings along with the solo! how is that possible?

  • @wilkiemart I think it's much hard to sing a melody and play a harmony at the same time, personally.

  • I can play technically complicated things, but for the life of me can't just do a 1234 strum and sing simultaneously.

  • this guy goes from gflat into minor pentatonic scales into sharp 9s and 7ths and e dims chord change to jazz euphoric runs.. a genius.

  • where can i find mp4ify? rips youtube video to mp3 or mp4 and it is free? i was told to lookup on any search engine 'mp4ify'

  • que bueno!!!

  • John Pizzarelli, é o cara!

    John Pizzarelli is the guy!

  • Superficial?? look out the jazz police are about

  • All right then, now you gonna tell me that John Mayer is not supercial and has a good voice. Please...

  • WTFFFFFFF

  • LOL best comment ever

  • I love that he can scat what he is improvising on the guitar. A lot of guys who are playing over changes are thinkin' "Is this a chord tone" or just kinda riff over the changes in a pentatonic or mode but don't really know what going from F-E-D# is going to sound like (at least not exactly) before they play it. I love this guy.

  • what are his chord inversions for this?

  • it kills me every time i watch it. perfect video to go the hell back to practicing the instrument, but sometimes it even demotivates ;)

  • apple doesn't fall far from the tree

  • yup, he got rhythm

  • He should watch out he doesn' t swallow it..... Probably a very small pick.

  • Where does he get that pick from?&^%$#...

  • At :28 he pulls it out of his mouth and uses it a few seconds later...before i saw this comment i thought he was just scratching it or something...

  • no he doesn't... he is wetting his fingers because he's been finger picking, i mean, don't you think it would affect his singing slightly if he had to pull a pick out?

  • Haha, you make a good point. But I guess he was pushing it against his face to grab it with his thumb so he could use it, like the person below said. Or maybe both. . .

  • I raised this b4 and was told he was holding the pick...he isnt its in his mouth!// the evidence?check this in the you tube search bar.....John Pizzarelli Exploring Jazz Guitar

  • oh he got it between the index and the middle finger.he pushed it against his face to grip it with his thumb

  • what a gun

  • his singing style reminds me of Chet Baker, only Mike is a much better singer ... and a pretty good guitar player..!!!

  • és én még azt hittem hogy minden nagy gitárost ismerek!!! ő az egyik legjobb !!!!!!!!!

  • ohhhhhhh jjajjajajaj si sobre todo eso y q rkm y ken Y, viva el maestro!!!

  • I love that he scat sings along with his solos. WOW!

  • im amazed he can do it so well!!

  • does anyone know how or where i can get this song? its absolutely insane!

  • I feel good now!! :D:D

  • what a fcking ninja with the pick in his mouth! he sing and takes it out nigh unoticably! Admirable

  • @mikeandmike I was at a clinic of his, and he keeps his pick in his palm. What he does is licks his fingers so he can grab it.

If it makes you happy, he talked about your post.

  • super efficace ! rien à dire

  • jonh pizareli é o melhor !

  • Fucking terrifying!

  • R.K.M & Ken-Y Con El Torito En Republica Dominicana

  • great!!

  • Hi ! When you play guitar and you look at this video, you wanna stop playing guitar to play ping-pong !!! He's really awesome, and he sings while he plays those chords so quikly that you can only tell to yourself that you need to work hard to have half of his level ! Cool video, thanks for sharing it. I've really enjoyed. 5*, of course ! BYE !

  • Half of his level??? Lol... Anyone who had half of his talent could be considered a king. He's probably the best guitarist ever.

  • Hi ! I've learned, when I've started to play piano, at the age of 3y.o., and when I was older, that the talent is a thing, the work another one, and you can have a big talent, if you don't work, you won't do nothing at all. That's why I've "only" said half of his level,& not half of his talent. There's so much greats guitarist than saying that "he's the best guitarist ever" is not really the truth(don't forget Wes Montgommery, Lee Ritenour, G.Benson, and many others).I agree that he's awesome..

  • @lorenzino1 only thing i have to say is.....you're right and i feel very pathetic at my playing skill now

  • @Colombiateenreborn :Hi, man ! We're feeling the same thing, he's too awesome with his guitar that when you hear that, you wanna stop playing to change of instrument...But since the comment that I've written, I've changed of way of thinking ; there will always be someone that's playing better than us, like there will always be someone that's playing better, there will always be persons that play badly compared to you. So we'd better go on with our playing skills. Hope to read you again. BYE !

  • @lorenzino1 I totally agree with you, and I think there's also other thing to it: true music is not only a matter of playing skills, but of inner expression. Monk, Dexter Gordon, Miles, James Blood Ulmer, Ornette Coleman, weren't (aren't) wonderfully skilled players, but their music expresses their inner voices, and that's why they're so great.

We as musicians should try to find ways of expressing ourselves more than playing as fast as possible. I believe both Pizzarellis achieved that.

  • I'm affraid of him :|

  • ¡¡¡Este tio es la rehostia!!! ¡¡¡ Que bueno JOER!!!

  • i love the part that starts at 1:00

  • What is the thing on his guitar's heatstock?

  • tuner

  • it's a tuner

  • Sweet. His dad, Bucky Pizzarelli was an amazing rhythm guitarist, and he was the outstanding soloist.

  • he IS

  • I thought Bucky was John Pizzarelli. Im confused.

  • bucky is john pizzarelli's father

  • Clearly, zom. :) That's okay though.

  • Awesome, man.

  • could someone tell some groups with this style of music. some big band classics.. ?

  • dizzie gillespie

  • i hate how he looks so chill and relaxed. this is some serious skill i love john

  • Man ur really good

even in person when i played with you in connecticut!!! Great friend

    Dennis Vangel

  • I saw him live... He put on one hell of a show.

  • that's good to hear. i'm seeing him live in june. where'd you see him?

  • He Got Rhythm.

  • Holy Shit....
