I have a .500 AHR, which is a little smaller, and it seems economical in comparison for a $225 box of 20 rounds. @GaNgStAr646 Accurate enough for what they're designed to do. A lot of the big-bore rifles are equipped with express sights to get a quick shot on a charging animal rather than for long-range precision.

Mine's built on a CZ-550 action, which has a built-in scope mount, and the previous owner fitted it with a low-power Leupold scope. It's not a precision rifle, but it'll put a bunch of thumb-sized holes in a palm-sized group at 100 yards. The cast bullets, a little looser group.

@470ruger Mine is a .500 AHR, which is similar to the .500 Jeffery, but with a rebated rim and case dimensions blown out to the maximum that will fit in a CZ-550 Magnum action. It fires a 535 grain projectile at nearly 2,500 feet per second and makes about 8,000 ft/lbs and weighs 11lbs with a scope, so recoil is unpleasant. While it doesn't make as much energy as my .50 BMG Steyr HS-50, the light weight and lack of a muzzle brake make it considerably more unpleasant to fire.

Nitro Express, it was named after british trains that could go very far and very fast, and were just big. the Bore is just another name for diameter, Like caliber and millimeter. just kind of something extra for the name.
