Actually Toyota owns 16.5% of Fuji Heavy Industries, which makes them a major share holder of the parent company of Subaru. Any ways it doesn't matter..... Toyota makes a lot of decisions within Subaru now and that's about it for now. We will see if they will pick up FHI in the future.
I just saw the BRZ in person at the Pittsburgh Auto Show. I don't think it is very pretty, but I wouldn't call it ugly. My only real complaint is the "air vent" above the front wheel arch. It is a fake scoop, and the gray texture looks like a piece of friction-mat for a car's dashboard. Subaru should either make it a real air vent or omit it entirely.

@craniumdesigns Actually since it is a mid-mounted Front engine lay out its like the opposite of a midengine rear mount set up. So from there they are somewhat similar but the key that makes this better than a Elise, is that once you lower it just 1' you have THE lowest center of gravity on any production car currently available, including their own LFA and Rx-8, And Porsche. And that my friend for around 20k is cool.
This car won't be fast, a Camry will keep up with it. The point of it is just to be a driver's car like the Miata. But trust me RWD is fun far more satisfying than an under steering FWD

There could be a turbo in the future but the fact that it is a 2.0L shows that Subaru is looking to scale back the American spec 2.5L down to the Japanese 2.0L for the WRX/STI also for fuel economy.

The fact that it needs a whole 1.5 L extra in the cylinders to get an extra 48 hp over the maybe-2-L BRZ should tell you it's no race winner. And the Camry is only a 2.5 L / 178 hp car if you wanna talk "scale back" and "fuel economy", dude.
@RingSight91 Looked up on Motortrend the 248hp Camry 0-60 is 5.8s and the BRZ 0-60 is 6.2s. But that 3.5L is rated for 30MPG and the 2.0L BRZ is est at 27MPG right now. So yeah it's going to be no street performer but good for Autocross like the Miata. Subaru has been hinting for awhile that they're going with 2.0L at the biggest in the future which I'm a bit disappointed about, I have a 2.5L Turbo Subaru

The price will be $ 24,000 for the premium model and $27,000 for Limited. If Subaru offers the blue color for premium model i will buy BRZ but they don't offer the blue for 24k. I will buy FR-S for $20,000-23,000.

In Sweden, the official subaru page is running it with a different (and perfect) song. It seems to been made for the movie as it fits perfectly with the scenes and gives the right feeling.

The fact that they arent even gonna offer a AWD or turbo trim package really speaks volumes over who is in control of this joint venture. i think im going to go with the BRZ over the FR-S the BRZ looks better and more refined than the FR-S. the FR-S looks like its meant for younger guys while the BRZ looks like its aimed at a slightly older guys. though im thinking of waiting to see if a sti model comes out.
