Nicely done. 2:06 - end is really solid, IMO. I like how you used the white-out cuts, just need a bit more tweaking to get it just right. I'm thinking faster cuts, with no lingering whiteness. From my experience, in a high action flashback context, fast white cuts seem to work best, or just straight up flashes of the scene. But it's your video, ultimately. You're the artist, and you've done well. Keep it up! - a video editor
@EmpathosProductions Thanks a lot! I'm well aware of the problem with cuts, that it shouldn't have cut to black, and the lingering white. Both of which weren't supposed to be there in the first place, the first as I hadn't ripped enough of that clip, so had to slow it down unbearably, so I had to make it do something, anything! And the white was an accident that I stupidly didn't realize was there until it was too late. Perhaps had I had longer on the computers, it might have never happened!
The course was BTEC Music Technology. I told the lecturer about the mistakes, even including a photograph of some cute kittens in the essay. Whether it was due to the rest being of enough quality, him understanding what I wanted to achieve or just calmed by the kittens, I got a distinction in the end. I'm now doing a degree in Music Journalism, which calls for more video editing work. Depending on context, editing like this violently can be used for entertainment, perhaps even comedic reasons.
@LuciusMare Thank you. And you are right, there are some parts that don't fit. We were only able to cut out around ten minutes of the film from our DVDs because of time constraints. They were select parts that I picked out that had explosions and gun fire which fit to the music, and machine gun fire next to drum fills etc. With these taken away, I was very limited, so I had to arrange it as fittingly as possible. It didn't work so well, but unfortunately it had to do. Bugger!
I forgot about this. If anyone watches this, let's play a game. In this clip, for no reason, I did throw in a Wilhelm scream. For those who know what that means... can you find it?
Apparently Warner is going on Warner Music genocide, so if you have some of their music, your videos could be coming down. So this is a mercy plea I guess, this was coursework, and a few friends wanted to see it, and since then, a few others have enjoyed it. So leave me be!
Obviously a cynical Muse fan here! The world really is a bit of a shite hole isn't it?
It took about three months, as I had 90 minutes a week on the project, and that three months included actually learning how to use the software and ripping the video (which took an age).
awesome job bro! Was thinking of a similar idea of Saving Private Ryan with Apocalypse Please, but you did a wonderful job. This video definitely deserves more views.
It's a horridly graphic film. When I thought that I'd make a video for it, I thought about its themes and thought a war film would be good to sync it up to. I borrowed Saving Private Ryan, which I'd seen once aaages ago from my uncle and ripped it, and it was perfect. It was nasty when doing the syncing as I had to watch the same horrible bits over and over. Such as the entrails shot at 0:57.
Music Technology. It consists of everything to do with music. Writing it, performing it and recording it. About the music industry. Right now for coursework, the class has to put on a charity gig and try and raise £1000. Genre studies, stuff about music distribution. You name it, it is probably there. While it wasn't part of the coursework, I did make porn music. I might have to get a sex scene from a film and put it to it...
this video is amazing.....WOW

I applaud, this is really well done, although there are some parts where the music does not fit the background, generally it is just great.

Well done. I would hope you got an A on this project. (Assuming your school doesn't give out A+'s)
