  • This song rocks. It's all like "fuck, you don't know me!"

  • I feel like from 2:40 to the end he's playing a part of a Hendrix song, I think maybe from Band of Gypsys, but I can't remember wich song.

  • nice

  • this is fucking radddd!

  • I'd do bad things to get that guitar.

  • This is the best line up John Mayer ever had.....

  • Suit Up!

  • could anyone please tell me the name of this DVD? I must have it

  • @BstUserNmevah Where The Light Is: Live in LA

  • Incredible !! he just inspired by the master ... Hendrix

  • that's a HUGE sound for just 3 people. WOW

  • @MrGuitarMods I lie to myself saying that John hired 2 extra guitar players hiding behind his prompter sitting cross-legged and playing riffs filling the speakers up. Things we do to get sleep at night..

  • I can get how he can sing. I can get how he can improvise on the guitar. I can't get how he does both well at the same time.

  • A little bit of Jimi's 'Hound Dog'?

  • I just filmed a cover of this tune! JM trio is toooo legit.

  • 2:36 - 3:25 Jimi rolls over in his grave to hide the boner john gave him. Straight outta Hendrix' book.

  • He wouldnt be so good without steve and pino...then again steve and pino would never play with him if he wasnt so good.

  • listen 2:35

    and now 1:10 here -> /watch?v=bGWZAdVcOsY

  • Holy macaroni!!!! This rules!!!! Thanks for keeping strats alive John. The bass player and drummer are also smoking hot players.

  • SRV was reincarnated in john mayer....

  • The best thing that ever happened to John Mayer is Steve Jordan and Pino Palladino!!! Listen to this!!!! ..Does it get any better as far as a rhythm section goes????

  • @funkydrummer14 steve & pino is the tightest rhythm section i've ever heard

  • I can listen Jimi Hendrix play in this video.

  • I used to be able to sing like that, but i took a arrow to the knee

  • 1:45 ~ 1:47 just like Donkey Kong

  • Steve Jordan + Pino Palladino + John Mayer = Real Music

  • @Jonnyorange17 exactly ;)

  • Who cares who the people are that disliked it!?! i liked it because it is BEAST.

  • this is what get my day started with EVERY SINGLE DAY.

  • this is my straight jam

  • clone JM plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • his blues musics are amazing but i think he must stop playing the pop musics that he plays in his shows

  • @luuizcn John Mayer uses pop to get his exposure, then spreads blues to the pop fans.

We need more people like him!!

  • does anybody know the bass tab and the guitar tab for the end outro after the drums come back in?

  • @laxplyer71 been trying to find it for 10 minutes, im just goin to try by ear

  • Does Pino not play the entire show? Just the trio part?

  • Comment removed

  • @WorshipBassist He plays during the Trio portion of the concert, as John Mayer went through all his previous band stages during that concert. At the end of the concert, Pino joined on-stage with John's other bassist DeLa in the awesome ending performances for the concert, where John has two bassists and two drummer on-stage, but like a pro, both he and Trio drummer Steve Jordan didn't outplay John's usual bassist and drumming, letting them cover their usual turf of those last songs.

  • I swear one of these days we will open up a floor tile and find extra band members down there..there is no way a trio can be this good..

  • @TheFifthTake Wow.... That doesn't sound EXACTLY like a comment on the official video for this song.

  • @ColinBrooksHuntley I love you too. :)

  • @TheFifthTake Haha! Nice... Spread the love!

  • uhhh, simple question, now adays he could get more ass than a donkey herder, but what would happen if he came in the 50's, the girls vagina's would have exploded and none of us would have grandmothers.

  • shane harper sent me hes really cute wonder if shane knows that ;D ?

  • every generation can appreciate a blues song like this. for example, my dad hates most new bands but LOVES this song and john mayer.

  • @theshaneharper sent me here...oh and I love John Mayer; he rocksssss <3

  • @theshaneharper sent me here (:

  • i was sent here by @theshaneharper :) thumbs up if you were tooo

  • Love the John Mayer Trio! The Musicianship is fantastic! I bought the blueray of this show, I don't watch the POP band part, just the musician parts! Simple Minds listen to the radio, thinkers look for the musician.

  • Gods alarm clock plays this

  • Ive been listening this performance little more than 2 years and never get tired, is amazing how just 3 guys make all that sound! just 3 f*ckin dudes! haha lol

  • My ears just got multiple orgasms...It's really a big mess here.

  • OMG there is no limit to how many times I can listen to this version ..pure synchronicity............rockmyworld! JMT

  • i have listened to this more in the last day then there are hours. also the bass makes this song.

  • More soul than James Brown, more blues than B.B.K I love a white dude that can redefine R&B.

  • this is like a slightly less heavy and more talented version of my band xD

  • Can I Get Pregnant For This?

  • Pino stands so still cause his fingers are moving so fast he cant spare any extra body movement.

  • Monster trio.

  • JESUS FUCKING CHRIST CAN I HAVE HIS BABIES PLEASE? CAN HE MARRY ME ALREADY. SHEESH

  • @kersa96 I doubt he's into immature potter girls. Neither is he into the screaming girls that ruin his live shows.

  • My new alarm clock tone

  • what an incredible sound for a 3-piece band, so talented those three. gotta love it. <3

  • john mayer proving that in the past life he was jimi hendrix.

  • @supergamer87 Ha. A couple awesome blues songs aren't enough to forgive him for "Battle Studies." Mayer has all the talent in the world and could easily have been a blues legend but he let the blues community down. We want him back but he has to choose his own path in music.

  • @MrSmithMD Half of My Heart is an excellently written song that should have won him the Grammy instead of Lady freakin' Gaga, so STFU. Also, dude was going through some depressive times during the making of Battle Studies, so STFU again. And finally, even Mayer himself said that Battle Studies wasn't his best album, and he clearly knows there's more better music in him as he's making a fifth album right now, so STFU one more time. Also, he has no obligation to serve "the blues community."

  • OH MY FREAKING FUCKING GOD! thumbs up, if you think that john mayer is a music king.

  • People dislike this because they are pissed off they cant rock like that haha

  • @AUM1LLER And all 31 of them agreed with you!

  • This is ridiculous good...tone is out of this word, he sounds just like Hendrix with the licks he was playing during the solo to me. If u have the time listen from 3:00 on, i was drooling after it haha

  • did anyone else notice at 2:39 john mayer playes a lick from a jimi hendrix song called power on soul when he playes it live at Filmore east? skip to 2:16 on the live video and see for yourself :D

  • Great Groove!

  • Pop is his body..Blues is his SOUL

  • That drummer is SICK! And Pino is Pino. Wish he was higher in the mix though. John Mayer is the closest to a Hendrix my generation has. He's rough around the edges, but I'll take him over Bieber any day. A true musician and ARTIST.

  • I love John Mayer, I love this song and tone.

  • I think this video just got me pregnant...

  • @StephenWilson142 toooooooofunny ..ditto !

  • Respond to this video... this is ONE of those songs that EVERYTHING happening in it ..is perfect... nah nah nahnahnah.........smooth ...hear jus a lil SRV?? ...grin

  • Comment removed

  • oh god, i had orgams playing this song!!!

  • This riff is so good, I remember exactly where I was when I first heard it. I remember thinking, "I haven't heard something this good on the radio in forever, who is this?" When Mayer's voice came in, I thought to myself "should have known"... Too bad he's got that pop reputation that he can't get away from, even with songs like this.

  • don't get me wrong I love John! But the Gel that Pino and Steve got is so SICK! Love it! Makes you wonder why there are soooo many covers of this song, but only A few Bass covers! so sick!

  • 2:42 is stop before the solo!!!Sooo cool!!!!

  • @simmytam that's not a solo, that is a different song. it is a cover of jimi hendrix's song, entitled "power of soul".

  • The drummer lmao..........

  • I think... I like that guitar of his even more than the Black1. There. I said it.

  • @TheNeutralTerritory Too bad its not originally his.

  • @SubsistenceSC That doesn't make me like it less.

  • oijfoewajgsa;dfj;kewajgpoiewahg;lkd

Sorry, I was wiping the jizz off my keyboard

  • PINO!

  • I DONT LIKE HOW UNDER RATED HE IS... HE IS AMAZING AND A HELL OF ALOT BETTER THAN ANY SHIT ON THE RADIO

  • this is how to start a day!!!!

  • he went the right way. so right, man. and i'm so glad that his teenage girl fans may get a bit educated with some serious music.

  • John Mayer is so....John Mayer :D

  • Steve Jordan knows. He's just one of those people who knows.

  • 1:40 Like: HA! take that!

  • yeah, john is great.... but this song is awesome ´cause of pino´s bass line, and you all know it!

  • "you good?" One dude said no, so John started playing

  • DANM MAN, HOLD STILL THAT GUITAR! HOW THE HACK AREEE YOU PLAYING THAT?!?!

  • Jesus!!!!!!!.no wait....its J motha fukin M!

  • This is why Pino is one of my favourite Bass players :D

  • Hendrix actually survived and is now the drummer for Mayer.

  • @extremersfreak Right...'cause they both look extremely alike? I'd say Guitar Hero made a better Jimi impersonation, and I hate that game.

  • @Pandolin11 chill man its just a joke. hendrix is like my god... i ain't makin fun of anyone.

  • @extremersfreak I know you were joking. Hahahahahahaha. See...;)

  • unvibe pedal

  • how the made that¿¿

  • Thumbs up for Pino's great facial expressions

  • Whats the effect he uses around 3:45 and on to get that slushy overdriven tone? Envelope filter? Auto-wah? Something very subtle. Someone help me out.

  • @kevlar1818

I think he's just going through his pickups very quickly, Hendrix used this trick too. Basically you just flick your pickup selector switch back and forth very quickly.

  • @RandomGuitarist96 Ah yeah you're totally right. Was too busy writing that comment rather than look at the damn video haha.

  • @kevlar1818

    univibe pedal

  • one of the best performers in the world today!

  • That is the sickest guitar. WHoah.

  • Why don't they call it Monster Trio?

  • john mayer=A terrifying guitar creature

    steve Jordan=A beast

    pino palladino=A monster

    John+Steve+Pino=the perfect balance+monsterous music

  • ballsy to use a Hendrix strat, but I guess he can pull it off...I guess it doesn't hurt to have Steve Jordan and Pino Pallidino backing you up.

  • ballsy to use a Hendrix strat, but I guess he can pull it off...

  • STEVE JORDAN IS SUCH a BEAST!

  • STEVE JORDAN IS SUCH BEAST!

  • i swear i feel like all these views are my own! haha this is real music

  • at the beginning of the video, in the first second 0:00 , there's an acoustic guitar playing...i knew they had someone else playing!...he's probably hiding under the carpet... well anyways amazing playing!

  • This stuff rocks! Holy macaroni! These guys are good. Each of them are masters of their own craft. The drummer has perfect timing and feel, the bass played is just plain crazy. And as for our hero, Fender Guitars don't give just anyone their own signature Stratocaster, he earned it. What a tremendous display of hard work and talent! It's been a while since I've had the pleasure of looking forward to an artists release. From one guitar player to another, thanks John, well done.

  • John Mayer, while great in his own right, cannot have asked for better bandmates. Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan are beasts on the bass and drums!

    John Mayer Trio FTW!

  • i honestly dont think alot of people get how difficult it is to play this live and sing, perfectly as he does. ridiculous

  • Check out my cover of John Mayer! :-)

  • THE MUSIC WILL BE REBORN!!

    BROTHERS:

JUSTIN BIEBER IS GOING TO BURN IN HELL!!!!

  • 1:02 : The bass player got bored of his simple bass line.

  • @biscuitshire That's Pino, he's awesome :D

  • power of soul!!

  • Biuti :)

  • What fucking bass . ! Awesome !

  • The riff at 1:11 is just awesome, love it.

  • WTF does he play in the last minutes. After the break. - Band of gypsys something? - where is it from, and is there any tabs? :D

  • @kristoffermunck That's right, it's "Power of soul" by Jimi.

  • Three musical giants at the top of their game!

  • 4 minutes and 11 seconds of pure awesomeness!

  • 2:40 - Marcus Miller - Power Of Soul

  • @ThomasJsen you're right :D

  • @ThomasJsen Actually its not even from Marcus Miller. Its from, once again, JIMI HENDRIX! Band of Gypsys (1970), 4th track, Power To Love. Amazing Song, but Mayer made it orgastic.

  • @ThomasJsen jimmy hendrix

  • each time pino slaps that bass, his wallet gets fatter haha, sickest ever

  • is that drummer still with him?

  • @BassGuitarUke Steve Jordan was just with John during their trio days, and reunited for this concert (tour?). He's not John Mayer's main band drummer...unless they revive John Mayer Trio, which would be awesome!

  • Is this an original? im almost positive it is but other people have told me it was an old big band song, and others have said it IS stevie ray vaughan, although anyone can obviously tell its heavily influenced by srv.

  • @mungo6000 It's an original by the John Mayer Trio

  • When John Mayer dies (hopefully many, many years from now), and they do a documentary of his legacy, and all the people who labeled and discredit him as "That soft Wonderland guy" get their first glimpse of his development throughout his awesome career, they'd better call that program "Who Did You Think I Was?" and have the opening credits run to this performance from the Live in L.A. concert here. They can end the film with "Heart of Life" for the ending credits.

  • @SuperGamer87 You know, the Beatles started out with sappy songs, bad haircuts (not the MopTops), and turtle neck sweaters. They soon flourished into deep rock & roll music which went against the mainstream of the late '60's-'70's culture. There are two main differences between their story and Mayer's; 1, This isn't the late '60's. 2, there are no turtleneck sweaters.

  • @TheMusicvent Um, why are you talking about The Beatles with me? I didn't bring up The Beatles. I think you made a mistake or something. And actually, I wouldn't even say John started out with sappy songs. John was an amazing talent even before him becoming guitar royalty (which, by the way, he wanted to be from the beginning). I loved his whole "Room For Squares" album. John started out pretty amazing from the start. Have you heard one of his earlier songs called "Breakaway"? Excellent!

  • @SuperGamer87 The reason I brought up the Beatles was because the Beatles are an incredible band and equally influential. I also brought them up because in my opinion, John Mayer started out writing sappy, acoustic love tunes. Sure, there were a few gems here and there, but until about 4 years ago, he never really matured.

  • @TheMusicvent A matter of taste, I suppose. I think he had more than just a few gems. Sure, he matured, and I love his matured work, but I enjoy his early years, too.

  • @SuperGamer87 nah they'll end on Gravity. no doubt in my mind.

  • @SuperGamer87 Someone's a homo...
