  • A great Piece of History...

  • @DosPalantos true, true, true...but i´m little sad, this is only history...where is such music today???

  • Just beautiful! Saw him last week in Germany...great man

  • Ohhhhhh!!!!! Isso é Bom demais!!!!! Gostaria de ter nascido nos anos 60 pra nessa época me acabar!!!

  • This is The best woodstock---------ROCK

  • amazing<333

  • 4:57 - 5:00 =] !!

  • wyattjameson he was the stage manger i am pretty sure about

  • Who is the tall balding hippie at 4;15-4;20,was he the stage manager or somthing,he's in the movie alot here and there.

  • he looks like peter grant :P

  • he had a verse or two in across the universe, and he's still really great.

  • i never thought i would say it, but this is the only version of a Beatles Cover that i like better than the original.

  • "With a little help from my friends", ain't it nice to have them when you need them ? I'm lucky enough to have several really great friends & this song is for you...Thanks

  • I was reading the Something Awful forums one time, and there was this thread called "What do you hate?" or something. There was some pretty good replies, but the two I remember were both one-liners. One was "Bose." and the other was "Joe Cocker." Now, I don't have anything against Mr. Cocker since I'm only aware of ever hearing two songs that he's sung (both of which were covers), but I *do* find it funny that somebody out there dislikes him in such a directed manner.

  • I've seen some previous comments about how kids today dont appreciate music like this. I beg to differ because I'm 14 and love almost any music from the 60's because today's music has no soul to back it up and me and my friends all agree on that because all we listen to is from the 60's and a few from 70's and 80's. Lol you just gotta love that stuff its unbelievable. Haha.

  • i think its funny how he says "i will try not to sing out of key" at 1:32 .

  • good times,from brazil.

  • This, Santana, and Ten Years After are some

of the best cuts from the Woodstock album.

  • I saw Joe Cocker live in Gainesville, FL in 1978.. I still have two of the pics I took..He was fabulous...

  • Yeah, I'm 14 (I know, my profile says 20) and I have a couple of friends that are into the same music as I. Janis Joplin, Joe Cocker, Jimi Hendrix, Santana, ... Love them all =)

  • this guy rocks!

  • Awesome - I love the way he gives his ALL to this song - every fibre of his being is completely in the music!

  • I agree, and would add, just like Janis Joplin. Peace.

  • This is one of the greateset performances ever.

  • It's sad that today's teens can't appreciate this. I showed my kids this video and for them it's the dumbest thing they've ever seen/heard. All they say is "OMG, what a retard. He looks like a bum. What's wrong with his voice." [sarcastic giggling throughout]

I first heard this song as a teen in the 80's but even then I immediately recognized it as nothing short of brilliant. I've been a fan ever since. I guess for my kids he doesn't sound enough like 50 cent. Very sad...

  • not all kids are like that. im only 16, and ive been into classic rock all my life. i cant stand todays music: rock, rap, and all the rest. my familys a classic rock family, and im probably the most into it. i wish i couldve been at woodstock and been a hippie in the 60s. it wouldve been the greatest experience of my life.

  • That's really cool. I always listened to classic rock around my kids but it didn't matter. Rap has permeated its way into every part of their environment, so there's no hope for them liking music like this. It's good to know not all teens are like my kids.

  • it's also good to know that classic rock is still alive and not going anywhere for quite a long time.

  • haha. Well maybe if theyre still young, theyll grow and mature a little and be able to appreciate more intelligent music.. who knows

  • Great Performance!!!

  • for those that were there I so think your such lucky people for the rest of the world that wished to be there, enjoy this, my god this is it, joe has left a peice of himself in that felid in up state new york,i'd sure love to see it one day even though all that i'd see is a feild but I bet one could still feel that energy he as many others left there, you rock joe cocker, I love the beatles, but man they have never seen anything but this guy's tail lights!!!! this really is the shit man.

  • happy accident, look up "lets go get stoned", "cry me a river","I put a spell on you" THese are all great

  • okay thanks a million (:

    i'll check those out!

  • Doidimais...

  • God love him. Soul. Period.

  • This is to reach orgasm without physical contact ..

    Without words ..

  • Isso é chegar ao orgasmo sem contato Fisico..

Sentir saudades de uma epoca que eu nao existia...

    Sem palavras..

  • Even on acid he still amazes me. The breakdown in the end is the greatest, personally you can feel the energy of the music control you.

Must of been great back then...

  • you can see half way through the acid kicking in "do you need anybody? AHHHHHHHHHHHHH LORD!" i need 2 get my friends omg i need to get my friends has anyone seen my friends?!

  • EPIC

  • And another thing, I thought it was real cool how he was air-guitaring through alot of the song. Nicely done. I woulda looked stupid doing that. Haha. He rocks :)

  • Cocker trademark. Always playing air guitar, to this day. Love him.

  • Agreed. Joe Cocker's the shit.

Do you know of any other songs he's performed?

I'm interested to see more :D

  • nobody looks stupid when they're playing air guitar.

  • hah, well, you haven't seen me do it.

i even play real guitar, and i still cant air-guitar ! lol :D

  • it's not supposed to look realistic, it's all about feeling.

  • Wow, love the song ! Joe has a really unique and cool voice. He can scream right on pitch :D

Not many people can do that mannnn. Awesome !

  • i was talking a bout the back up singers

  • simply amazing.

  • There's nothing new, or interesting, about disrespectful children. Cocker has what these mouthy kids don't...loyal fans;)

  • there are one too many haters on Joe Cocker

  • How can you people say he can't sing after hearing this performance? Just the first few notes give me goosebumps, his voice is so powerful! He certainly doesn't look like a voice that sounds like that would come from him.

  • wtf is this if this all it takes to sing then I'll be a fucking millionaire

  • Well, are you?

  • probably

  • mai loco q o rafael do polegar!

  • nem tava doidao...

  • Is it just me or do the background singers suck big time

  • Its just you. Hes got a great voice.

  • Oh yeah, the "sucking" background singers being Neil Young and Jimmy Page. It's understandable how you could say they suck. It's not like they became famous rock icons anyway. Please, if you can't be respectful of different types of music, don't look them up. Also please try and refrain from your nasty comments on videos you dislike. It's childish. This concert was about peace, show some respect.

  • If you see my other comments you can see that I love this video and come to it often. Im sorry I didnt know who thsoe guys were. They seem like they cant sing. I geuss Im wrong. geezus krist. Calm down

  • Perhaps I jumped the gun, so to speak. I apologize. I didn't see your other comments. I take your word for it. Peace.

  • are you sure that's neil young and jimmy page?

  • I am positive it's Neil Young, I know Jimmy Page was on the album with Joe Cocker. While I keep looking, I can't be positive it's Jimmy with Neil. Sorry.

  • he has sweet sidburns

  • Senhoras e senhores!!!!!

    Sir Ringo Star!!!!!!

  • Sem palavras, de fato a melhor apresentação de Joe !!! "Anos Incriveis".. du caralhooooooooooooooooooo

  • P.S., then I'll leave this page because I am commenting too much...recently, those boots Joe was wearing were up for auction. They sold for $2 Million Dollars. WOW! Peace all and Happy New Year!

  • As you can see by my screen name, Janis Joplin is my very favorite artist. I believe Joe Cocker is the the male Janis. Incredible performance and much like her, he puts every ounce of himself into the performance. Peace.

  • He was trippin' on LSD during this...

  • I think Joe Cockers performance here has been revered as one of, if not the best, of this whole event. I'm sure it made an everlasting imprint on everyones mind. I remember when I saw it on screen and that was what I thought. At that time I was just and average fan until that point. I think everyone knew this man was special. Kinda looks like he's trippin though, especially because of all the sweat. Acid does that to you. I know.

  • this man is fucked up on acid.. complete awsomeness

  • Is that Neil Young on the electric guitar..?

  • It's Jimmy Page.

  • And Neil Young. Jimmy is on the Album.

  • I was up in New York just before Woodstock Exploded into the scene. Then it was "10cc's", The Rock Group and Bob Dylan but when Joe Cocker sang at Woodstock I think he made one of the most lasting impressions on everyone with his music. I visited Grenwich Village and that area of New York and it was a ummmm...shall we say..."A Mind Blower"...???

  • i've never seen this video before... still the same vioce, great!!!

  • muito boa essa musica.. traz muitas lembraças da infancia..!!!!

  • this song is the friggin balls, please excuse my lagguage. the who were good there to. see me ,feel me. alot of killer songs there sly, good to.everyone was the balls.

  • This performance is brilliant!! It gave me chills and put tears in my eyes.

  • i dont think is polio or turrets (genius) he has lsd

  • Good eyes man...would have been great if the Doors were there...i would love to see Janis Joplin go head to head with Britany Spears...who do you think would win that battle?

  • In 4:15, there is John Densmore, the drummer of the doors.

  • Wow, never noticed that before.

  • He had polio and he knew it from an early age.

  • Crazy this version is the BEST! The emotion and feeling you can feel.

  • he actually has turetes which explains his stage antics

course he didnt know he had it till he was about 50

    great song

  • This performance is untouchable and so real...it hits hard

  • better than the beatles version

  • greatest performance - amazing guy !

  • he looks paralysed .. :-P

    nice song though ...

  • old beatles tune :P

    awsome, great job guys!

  • isso ae eh do anos incriveis?

  • yup =]

  • ...\o/ ....best

  • HIPPIE-FEST 1969

  • the first ever air guitar, great job

  • AWESOME!

  • Beautiful!

  • legendary! amazing! too bad we can't time travel.. what a trip to be able to BE THERE and relive these moments. awesome!

  • no man joe cocker is always spazzing like that, john belushi imitated him on SNL it was brilliannt

  • You can tell he was tripping on A LOT of drugs!

  • Nice job sir Joe...you're the best of all time...you are a legend also Led Zep...

  • Bester Liveauftritt aller Zeiten. Andere MEinungen lasse ich nicht gelten ;-)

  • maravilhoso...........

  • dlassik rock & legend of dinosaure in rock, woodstock is an very dream of legend

  • Why would you be an alcoholic when theres so many other awesome drugs availabe?

  • He looks like a wolf. Great voice... but how can you sound like that when you're so young? Seems he'd had an exhausting lifestyle...

  • i love this song!!! go joe!!!!

  • I was born in the wrong time period. T_T. I wanna live through 60's!!!

  • who doesnt

  • yes, Who?

  • soooo high

  • One of the all time classic performances!

  • a true performer!!

  • classic, pure classic man

  • i love it!...do you prefer him to sit there like a stone and sing his parts....thats lame.

  • What an artist, what a performer! This is legendary. lovin his sideburns right now too! lol

  • MAAAAAAN someone is on druggies, but noone at woodstock wasn't lol

  • This is the most amazing performance I ever seen..beautiful..

  • look at them.they are watching the music and not yelling drunkly at the stage like the idiots today!

  • Isso é muito bom!!

  • Music with meaning neeeeeds to find it's way to 2008.

  • Eye so agree...

  • Unreal... Cocker is the man, I wish I coulda been there.

PS: I love 4:17-4:22 They go outta focus of the band and the shot of the guy in the background is priceless. This was a true time in history where music meant something to people.

  • Agreed. That guy, his appearance and movement, is a snapshot of the era. Joe Cocker's performance just blows you away. I even like the dodgy off-key falsetto backing singers at it adds to the rawness and genuine content of it all.

  • yeah. Love that part to. Just a guy standing on stage listening to the music. Today he had been gunned down by guards or something like that..

  • It's like if you took the Beatles song, and added soul. Amazing performance.

  • Chills..............

  • amen!

  • Oh hell yes brother...sing it...this was our time!!!!!!!!!

  • Most memorable cover of that song there will ever be. I am not a big vocalist fan, but Joe Cocker's energy and performance are off the charts. Excellent Video! ;)

  • wow joe's on some serious acid lmao

  • it's obvious that Joe's male bandmates are throwing down the bgv's. not the female studio singers who recorded on the album.

  • Whats up wit the background singers? Do they sound horrible or is it just me? Especially at 2:23

  • i know lolololololol

  • Best Beatles cover EVER!!

  • holy shit his energy is incredible

  • Yeah, I know, eh? I can't understand a thing he's saying, but I get this great, warm and fuzzy feeling...

  • Does Joe use his power for good or awesome?

  • i thought william shatner did the original version!

  • im gettin those boots... if i ever wear anything patriotic

  • joe cocker = god and my role model

  • good song

  • so who sang it first joe cocker or the beetles i was just curious anyone tell me .

  • the beatles. sgt peppers in 1967. 2 years before this

  • The Beatles. But Cocker's version is better, in my opinion.

  • Well its spelled The Beatles not "beetles"

and they did but I personally like this version

more it has more energy and emotion to it

  • im feelin it!!

    crazy but alot of soul

  • Gotta say it: a million times better than Ringo's original version in every aspect.

  • Ringo Starr didn't make the original. Lennon and McCartney wrote it for Ringo, who performed it.

  • Fantástico! In live at 1969 ao fim dos séculos jamais se perderá tamanho momento !

  • "Yeah, legend

Actually I live in the 60´s

Such a great time, music and feeling "

whoooaaaa mannnn. how do i get a time machine??

i want to live in the 60s too.

    grooovy

  • this is beatles's cover song

  • Legend

  • Joe Cocker does not have CP, google it dude, you are completely missinformed. He was wacked out on stage from drugs.

  • Fuck i love his song. Any way for those who dont know joe cocker suffers from cerebrial paulsie which is a join disease or somthing along the lines, granted hes probably on like 3 tabs of acid too, he is still a hero to me and everyone who attended the 69 stock.

  • nascí no país errado.

  • omg

hendrix gotta be jealous of joe playing that guitar

  • Hendrix could play rhythm/bass/lead at the same time.

this is great guitar, but primitive in comparison to some of the shit that he did at Woodstock.

    no reason for envy

  • ahahaha

i was joking bout joe's air guitar

  • lmao

still great guitar in this video

  • Omg ill just say

  • Awesome! Just missing some great great backing vocals (as in later versions by Joe Cocker) - musicians filling-in in falsetto voices don't quite sound like talented 'gospel sisters' I'm afraid, especially since this version definitely has a gospel feel to it and definitely was intended to soubd like it (BTW: love that vintage Hammond organ!!!).

  • this is fuckin awsome

  • The best version of this Beatles song!

  • For me this version is the best!

  • he has always own style ;)
