lol "when they say you have your fathers hair, they actually mean 'you appear to have inherited a gene or genes from your father that instructs your hair follicle cells to produce hair that curls like your father's"
haha 4 years in science class of a teacher trying to explain what a gene is and not understanding a word they say, only to give up the subject. but now i understand. man i go to a crappy school.
I'm going to make a Biology graduation exam in two weeks, and this video helps me a lot in understanding Genetics, so THANK you very much for posting :)
I loved this video. Nice anamation. Nice narrating. Makes Biology easy! Takes me hours to just study what this video talked about. This only took 4:25! That simple!
I want to be a geneticist of some sort. But I find the whole advanced area of DNA quite daunting. Are there any genetics jobs that don't directly and closely deal with such things... like biochemistry?
There are 22 pairs of chromosomes that normal people have. if you are a female then you have 22 pairs but two "X"'s; making 23 pairs. A male has 22 pairs with one X and one Y chromosome. Making most "normal" peoples total number of chromosomes 46. Also hair "curliness" is controlled by the shape of the hair the straighter it is the more round it is.
Thanks for a great series of videos :) am using this one and part 4 with two of my classes. Extremely clear information in what is a difficult area for most students! 5/5
HAHAHAH when someones says u have ur fathers hair, what they mean is 'you appear to have inherited a gene or genes from your father that makes a protein that instructs your hair follicle cells to produce hair that curls like your father's. I know thats wot i mean when i say that :P. But the video is great keep up the good work
Hi great videos thankyou. You say "most genes are recipies for making specific proteins" may I ask what the others do and where can I fine out about them?
Amazing video..this is informative and the information in the video is more than perfect. Usually people say chimps and human have 99% of similar DNA but that is the old version and your video has the new and updated facts! This is so great I love watching them!
I feel resentful that after years of bland texts books in school I can understand a concept far better via a cartoon. This is a very powerful learning medium, thank you for sharing.
super cute!

I don't get it when they say 20,000 Genes so do they mean it in the whole body or just one cell ?
5811396 1 year ago
@5811396 Every cell in your body has nucleus with 23 pairs of chromosomes therefore every cell n your body has 20000 genes.
