  • Good video, shame about the screaming, jibbering, clucking putrid children deafening everyone with their screams for attention.I was never allowed to be as noisy as that as a kid, parents thesedays must need eardefenders to protect their ears from the high pitched screaming and jibbering. That Maudsley is a fast engine on the go,very nice.

  • Glad that you like the video - children were, unfortunately, not optional, although I daresay we were all young once ;-)

  • would the larger engines you meanchen be the 90 and 100 inch?

  • Yes, that's correct :-)

  • Impressive machine. It's huge, yet quiet. The machine in motion looks powerful.

  • Glad that you found it interesting :-) The Kew Bridge Steam Museum has a number of similar engines, including one that is substantially larger again than this one (well, two, but only one runs).

  • @jamespetts2 Yes the 90 inch engine is the largest working beam engine in the world

  • Respond to this video... Just to clear up something, the talk is given by Ivan one of our volunteer drivers and not a curator
