what PCoy OC or depot para OC at the time? the OC of the depot was Poraj Wilczynski, that particular PCoy OC wasnt with us he had left, and therefore didnt do it by the time they got too us about 5/6 weeks later, the new OC was a big fella, big chest, you do see him in the background on the odd clip, dont know which clip, (many moons ago for remembering names!)all the other DS where, the only name that anyone consistantly remembers is their PTI!!
It was Oct 91 all arms, I was there at the time of filming as a para reg recruit (570 plt), it was just before our build up phase for P Coy which was in Nov 91
This is defo 1992, before it went to Catterick before the army did the options for change, where alot of regiments were almaganated. P company went to Cattererick, after that. My dad was 2 Para, remember watching this on tape. To the guy that asked, yes one of the sgts on this was known as Spanner..the thinner one with the tache! I think the other sgt (Carter) was still serving a few years ago and was a Major by then.
It was filmed in Oct & Nov 91 it was all arms PCOY, just before I done it with 570 para reg recruits, we thought the cameras where for us ha ha!, if I rightly recall Carter was the youngest serving soldier to be sent to the Falklands, thats what he told us anyway,
Buy the 80s and 90s style Para training T-Shirts online from Silvermans, (these are the same design as sold by Duboras of Aldershot in the 80s and 90s).
@patrickmaky42 phase 1 training is 14 weeks, that not called basic training, basic training is what the regular american military do and can then choose to train more such as become a sapper or something.
the second instructor sat on the bench AT 1.08 looks like my old section corporal Cpl Spencer [spanner ] does anyone else recognise him , he is obviously a Sgt now
It was filmed in Oct & Nov 91 it was all arms PCOY, just before I done it with 570, we thought the cameras where for us ha ha ,,got injured and failed btw, if I rightly recall Carter was the youngest serving soldier to be sent to the Falklands, thats what he told us anyway,

I was 564 platoon at Browning 91. Not ashamed to admit it, but I shat myself doing the balloon jump and jacked. I recognise the OC did he not become 2Para's CO? When I jacked Olly Olson and Erik SeKwallor (sp) were in the same block as me, I remember on fatigues one day about 10 of us struggling to lift the sled they used for the Olympics, 4 of them carried it! We werent weaklings, we just werent as strong as them.
@SecretTrollAccount1 you obviously havent looked into them, the paras rarely enter a zone via parachute anymore since the world wars, but they are still THE elite fighting force (some would argue marines are better) believe it or not its very rarely about jumping out a parachute and shooting..
I was thinking about joining either the marines or the paras I was wondering what differs between the regiments?? And please no crap like oh Marnies are shite....
That PTI is a legend :) "your being idle! YOUR BEING IDLE!! - catch him up catch him up catch him up - bend the knees not the back, bend your KNEES not you BACK, BEND YOUR SHAGGING KNEES, LISTEN TO ME!!!!!"
You have to earn you right to wear the maroon beret, these boys are the best and will only work with the best.. I did a paras insight course and its is so undoutably clear that this regeiment sets the standard for all other regiments to be based off.. Except maby special forces..
I THINK THIS PARTICULAR COURSE WAS EXTRA HARD DUE TO THE CAMERAS, IF IT WAS LIKE THIS WHEN I DID IT, I TOO WOULD HAVE PILLED IN BIG TIME. GREAT FUN THOUGH....NOT!!!
@trimcatchris He is not a RM commando. He is a cpl in the RAOC who passed the All Arms Commando Course. Staff is suspecting he's faking it to get 2 weeks off before he's RTU'd.
This IS NOT P COY it is "Hat P Coy", in the Para Reg we do P Coy in 3 days (well in my time) with almost zero sleep for the entire 3 days.
This is a walk in the park in comparison,,, if you aint been there then you can't argue,,, these people will eventually become airborne soldiers NOT Para Reg there is a huge difference:))
@simplysi8 how heavy are the bergens they run with? coz i wanna join up after sixthform and i go jogging but without weight and id like to know how much i need to put in my backpack.
@simplysi8 lol I wouldnt say its a walk in the park I'd argue that its probaly harder than standard p coy, as its run by "real" para's. They dont want any old muppet to wear the maroon berret, so they try and break you and work you harder.
you can join straight in. go off to the recruiter, tell em you wanna be a para, pass the tests, go into training for the parachute regiment, then BOOM! do some jumps and be a lad.
this particular course is an all arms course. this is where those regiments with airborne regiments within their corps can spend 3 weeks running/tabbing with large weights to jump out of a plane and where a maroon beret with their respective cap badge..
i didnt quite answer your question directly.. oh well lol

you can only join the SBS if you are marine anyway, and ofcourse his fitness will be better than that of a para's because he was special forces.
