well, that's what XC is all about... either that jump could have been done as a wide corner oxer, a bounce, or a reaaaaalllllllly short one-stride. It seems that appy was deciding between doing the 1 stride and the bounce, then decided to do a bounce.

I looked at your videos, and you have videos of you jumping about 2'6, which you call "huge". So, I'm not totally convinced you have ever jumped prelim, which is about 3'9".

But i agree it's a reflex and I used to do it. Not so much anymore, since I fell off a green horse, got my hand stuck in his reins/bridle and broke my hand. So sometimes it's not all bad to just let go. Plus they may drag you if you're holding onto thier face
